"Brittany M in guest services saved our family vacation to FL!"
My husband, my one year old daughter, and I initially drove from Atlanta, GA to Hollywood Beach FL for a family vacation. Upon arriving to our 'resort' we were both horrified an disgusted with the state the resort was in. My husband was leaving half way through the trip to go home to continue working and I began to cry thinking about having to stay in the dump that was our 'resort' by myself with my baby. We packed up and drove down to Fort Lauderdale Beach, as I've stayed there before I knew we would find something, and we began looking on TripAdvisor for a place to stay. We found Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort and pulled in. I walked into the lobby with my app opened and Brittany M greeted me with a sweet and sincere smile. She saw the tears in my eyes and I explained my story. She took me to the computers in the lobby and straight away went into looking how she could get me the best price since we were so last minute with booking. Once she found me the best price she took me to the front desk and gave me the best arrival and check in I've ever experienced at any hotel, (and my husband and I travel quite a bit to some of the best hotels there are). Knowing my experience before I arrived Brittany went the extra mile to ensure I had a pleasant stay. She took me to 3 different rooms that were available in the price block that I chose, and told me to pick whatever one I felt most comfortable in. She then helped my family to enjoy our stay with some complimentary drinks and breakfast at the hotel. She called for our luggage to be taken to our room and within a matter of 20 minutes my family vacation went from non-existent to amazing and comfortable. Our room had floor to ceiling ocean views, the breakfast buffet was wonderful (as was the service), and the staff throughout the hotel were always warm and friendly looking out for me and my daughter when my husband left for work. Everyone offered help whenever they saw me on my own with my daughter. Brittany also went out of her way to ensure our family dinners were easy and pleasant by handing me a map and writing down her specific favorites, and they were all very good. When I checked out Brittany gave me a huge hug and told me to please come back again. I told her she could count on our family business again anytime we were to visit Fort Lauderdale.
I loved everything about this place from the warm greeting upon arrival and quick check-in/out to the complimentary drinks. I am guessing that either everyone is very happy with their jobs here or they are well-trained in smiling and being friendly and going out of their way to be helpful. I am talking about everyone: room service people, restaurant people, cleaning people, front desk people. On our first night wee were exhausted so we took the often fatal step of ordering room service. OMG! The Caesar Salad is one of the best anywhere in the world (check my other reviews - I am a Caesar Salad professional!), the chicken wings with dipping sauce and the Chicken with pineapple were some of the best food we had on the entire trip. So much so that we ordered the exact same thing the next night and Caesar Salads for every night we were there! Those who belly-ache about fees for this and that are cheapskates. Sure there are extra fees but I was made aware of them upfront so it is the cost of doing business. Not like they were some surprise foisted on me at the last minute. I am a beach/ocean person and the sands of Fort Lauderdale are tough to beat. There is a pool for those so inclined with a bar available. EVERY SINGLE ROOM in this hotel has a fabulous ocean view. Not the "ocean view" that requires you to strain your neck to get glimpse of water - a full frontal ocean view. In fact, there are no rooms facing the rear - everything faces the ocean! This was one of the prettiest rooms I have ever stayed in. Take a look at the pics and drool...I did. Kudos to the management. This place is clean and well run. Beautiful location, pleasant people, big smiles and fantastic ocean views coupled with some pretty damn good food! A+ in my book. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to a return visit.
"$$$BEWARE OF PARKING FEE$$$"
We booked this hotel for a last minute trip to the beach. Although it had several redeeming qualities what stood out like a sore thumb was the $32/ per day valet parking fee which is the only parking option there. This added on another $100 to our hotel budget and we debated about renting a car which we certainly would not have done had we known about the fee. When going back to the website we booked it on it mentions that "valet parking" is a service they offer but mentions nothing about the extra $32/ day charge. Now, that being said. It was in a fantastic location. The views from our room were the best I've ever seen. Our room was spotless and housekeeping did a great job every day. Beds were very comfortable. Yes, the pool is small but what do you need that for when you are on a stunning beach and you get 2 free recliner chairs a day with your hotel stay. I did not eat at the restaurant but there were also plenty of other small restaurants walking distance & bikes you could rent. I would stay there again, just not bring a car.
"A quick 4 day get away!!"
What a great 4 day getaway... The hotel was great, great rooms, great friendly front desk, and amazing location right across from the beach... Only problem is you have to pay $32.00 a day for valet. This must have been in the very very very small print.. The hotel should be ashamed of themselves for not making this clearer. By the way didn't tip the valet workers at all... Sorry but $32.00 a day hopefully they are making enough thru salary. Watch the details if you are staying there, they are sneaky about this!!
"What a let-down!!!"
I was there on a work trip and was highly disappointed. Customer Service' what is this, no one smiles, no welcome, no greetings...one morning before 7am, I stepped into the lobby and 2 Front Desk agents were behind the desk, no one else was in the lobby or around, as I walked up to the front desk, no one looked, smiled or said anything. When I then said Good Morning, the male agent said Hi but the female could care less, extremely rude, inappropriate and disappointing service. I had called a few days before the conference to assure that we had a king bed as I was bringing my husband along and Danielle from FD confirmed that we only get a double bed. When I asked if she could switch it to a king and explained my situation, she could care less, answer short that this is what my company booked for me and hung up the phone on me. My husband and I decided to stay elsewhere. At the conference I found out that some attendees had a king that did not need a king bed as they were single travelers. The catering department did not do better, no smiles, no greetings and when I asked for more vegetables or dessert on different days, the answer was no, your company should have ordered more or just plain no...no apology, no let me go and check for you, terrible service! I run a business and would not hire one person out of 10-15 people that I have met during my conference. The rooms are not great, dirty, not well cleaned, the view is beautiful but you could not open a window in order to hear the ocean. I have many friends and family members constantly looking for a beach place...this Hotel will never be on the list! I don't entirely blame the staff, it takes leaders to built a great team, not managers!
