"St Regis Brunch is amazing!"
Went for brunch on my last visit and it will now be a regular visit whenever I'm in Bali. The pre cocktail drinks were delicious and the sitting room was lovely to relax in the cool air conditioning. As soon as your drink was almost finished, a new one was ready for you. The food selection was divine, so much to choose from. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The hotel is beautiful also, a must see. Highly recommended for a lovely treat!
Stayed here for 3 nights a week after spending the weekend at The Upper House Hongkong. While The Upper House left us with such a good impression, St. Regis definitely fell short. At $1,800 per night for a 2-bedroom villa, it was quite a letdown. Nothing special about the villa. Housekeeping wasn't thorough, the toilet sometimes emanated a faint whiff of urine smell. Cabinetry was cheap, to the extent one of the wardrobe didn't even work properly and the glaring fluorescent light inside the wardrobe would not even switch off at all, leaving the bedroom way too bright for a good night's rest. Response from the hotel was that's how it was supposed to be, that the light was supposed to be on all the time. Imagine that! When we showed our displeasure then they offered to remove the bulb and had a switch installed the next day. The only positive thing is the good breakfast and the friendly staff at the restaurants. That's all.
"The best of the best"
I know this hotel sins 2007 when it was build. And I can say till today this is the best hotel in Bali. If we are talking about VIP top class level. There is absolutely fantastic everything. Service, rooms, food, staff, everything. You will feel like a king or queen. And there is the best breakfast I ever have in any hotels before.
"High Expectations Set"
This resort has incredibly positive reviews so I was looking forward to staying there but found the sister hotel, the W to be an overall better experience, not even taking into account the value for money but when you consider that, the St Regis pales in comparison to the St Regis in my view/experience. Positives: Airport transfers were included in the room rate Staff were consistently friendly Breakfast is superb - probably the only area that surpassed the already good W standard in my opinion Several areas for lounging outside, often quiet and available Spacious room When I wanted to book a package at the spa and was told the hairdresser was on a day off so they could not give me that service, I asked about whether they had a backup stylist. The hairdresser came in on his day off just to do my treatment. While I consider this a plus, it is strange to me that there was no on call person given it's supposed to be a luxury resort Nice bathroom with good range of amenities Wiwin from the King Cole Bar was extremely helpful in setting me up for a meal even though I had multiple special requests. She was incredibly gracious, competent and a tribute to the team. Also the King Cole Bar makes a fantastic milkshake. The beach is private Spa experience goes beyond regular massage - they did a paraffin wax and scalp treatment for the massage that was part of my package. Of course you pay more than you usually would at even another five star hotel in Bali for this, but at least it's a positive point of differentiation. Nice gift of straw hat and beach bag Less than desirable aspects: SPG platinum upgrade was not great - ocean view was mostly of trees with a rather ugly empty lot next door and instead of a better room, it was just an ocean view rather than garden view. "Suite" was not really a suite by any other hotel standard. Yes it was big but the living area was the same as the bedroom area with a wispy curtain you could pull a little to "separate" the two. Suites are supposed to have bedrooms sectioned off from the rest of the space. This was frankly no better than my regular room at the W Seminyak which also came with a sofa area - it was just smaller in size. Butler service was very busy. I sometimes couldn't get through on the phone. When my tea came there was no milk/lemon offered. So I called back to ask for some milk to be delivered but found it difficult to get through and had to keep calling back. When I eventually reached someone, no matter how many times I tried to explain in various ways I already had tea and just wanted some milk to go with it, she couldn't understand me. Eventually she told me that it would take twenty minutes to deliver my tea. I asked to speak to someone else who understood what I wanted but I said if it's going to take 20 minutes further (by this point the tea had been delivered ten minutes prior) then the tea would be cold by the time the milk comes. I eventually cancelled the order. May I recommend that if tea such as English breakfast are ordered, have milk/lemon ready to deposit with the teapot as was the case the other time I ordered the tea - successfully. Given that the St Regis brand prides itself on its point of difference being the butler service, this aspect should really add to the guest experience, not make it more frustrating. I'd rather pay less per night to not have a butler service than pay St Regis prices for one that is not very good. Library had a poor selection of magazines and inappropriate seating for a place to sit back and enjoy reading - nothing like the offerings available at the W Seminyak Lighting is poor on the balcony. I wanted to sit outside my room and read at night but the only light was directly above the uncomfortable hard chair instead of the sofa I was really looking forward to this stay but it was not a patch on the experience I had at the W Seminyak which I found to be a better location for getting out and about as well as pretty much every other aspect at the W being superior. The St Regis isn't terrible, but it's expensive for what it is compared with other options in Bali and my view is that if they want to charge the high rates, the point of differentiation needs to be there as well. It was good to go once, but I won't be back.
"Beautiful Hotel and Unbelievable Service"
We were in Bali earlier this month for our honeymoon and heard amazing things about the St. Regis Bali. We saved this stay for the end of our trip and splurged on a Villa with a pool. The St Regis did not disappoint. It's a beautiful hotel on a gorgeous stretch of beach. But even more than the beauty, we were touched by the unparalleled service -- which must be attributed both to the St. Regis brand and to the kindness of the Balinese people. Unfortunately, my husband was sick for most of the stay and we weren't able to take full advantage of the hotel, but we were overwhelmed by the kindness and attentiveness shown to us. A big thank you to Carlos and all of the Butler Staff, as well as the staff at Boneka and the Gourmand Deli, who were all so lovely. Please pass on our thank you to Dr. Dani, as well! Sincerely, the Eislers
