Set in the historic center of the city, this sleek, elegant hotel is 2 km from the Grand Bazaar, 3 km from the Hagia Sophia and 5 km from Topkapı Palace.
"Not bad, but not memorable either."
We stayed at Wyndham Istanbul Old City for 4 nights. The first impression was extremely good, as the entrance was amazing, the main hall, the styling, etc, was like entering to a magical world. But then, the reality was that the room was average (we had the Executive room), and the service was not really from a 5 star hotel. The second day they forgot to leave clean towels and toilet paper (toiletteries were also basic, no conditioner at all, etc). The third day they took one of the bathrobes and never replaced it. Then, I asked for a bottle of water that never came. The restaurant is cute, with average price. We ordered a lot from the room-service since there are almost no restaurants in the vicinity. There is an indoor pool and sauna. The room was quiet, fortunately, but you hear the prayer from the nearby mosque anyway. There is not so much soundproofing, since i could hear the next-door people talking -fortunately, it was our last night-. In all, it was nice, but I think I will try something else next time in Istanbul.
"Very Good Hotel with small rooms"
Almost everything in this hotel was very good, it was clean, breakfast buffet was nice also with a lot of options to try Except for the single room size it was small and the staff although they provide you with good service but they dont smile
"bad experience in Wyndham old city hotel"
Starting from reception, only one staff was there with gue of people waiting for check inn The room was not ready When I entered the room I found staff of other guest The staff opened the door and entered the room without knocking the door even I complained for that but no feedback given to me no one listening to you Resturant for breakfast was terrible no cups to drink tea, late cleaning of tables
"Not a 5 star hotel for sure ... extremely disappointing !!!"
I usually stay at hotel around Taksim area when I visit Istanbul. I wanted to try something new and after reading the reviews from Wyndham Istanbul I booked two nights on a standard room. I arrived very late and I was taken to a loft room and I was told they were very busy but they would move me to another room the next day. Terrible night sleep as next door people was making so much noise and at 6:00 am there was a guy shouting to wake one of the people up. Breakfast is terrible. I stood up for over 15 minutes until someone asked me what I wanted. The food looked unappetising. Not enough plates or coffee cups. No juice anywhere. I returned to reception after breakfast tô enquiry about my room change and I was told check out was after 14.00pm but there were other guests leaving. I supposed I needed to wait I quite did not understand and I walked out. I came back after lunch to once again ask for the room change and I was told as the hotel is very busy they could not move me. I guess no one came to speak to me as they thought I would not bother. I am not sure why some of the fellow reviewers like this place so much. It is a conglomerate of bad taste, poor service and inadequate rooms. For me is never again!!!
What a great hotel from beginning to end, lovely service, good rooms, great breakfast. In total an all round super stay. I can well recommend it. Well located easy to reach sites and near everything. Great views over the city.
