"A great experience at the Stewart Hotel, NYC"
I checked into this hotel for 6 days in early June. 'Andrew' at reception was extremely welcoming and helpful, even upgrading my room as I was staying longer than most and he wanted to ensure a comfortable stay. I ended up in a lovely suite, with bedroom, separate living room, kitchen and two bathrooms! Space is not normally something one expects with NYC hotel rooms, but this was certainly the exception to the rule. The room wasn't fancy, but it was spacious and very clean. The bar downstairs is a very friendly place, with great service and is perfect for a nightcap before retiring for the evening. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.
"Great renovation and location"
AND, on site restaurant! Can walk to the flagship Macy's and Herald Square. Very upscale decor, lovely staff. The bathrooms are "old school", but fine. The rooms are great spacious and ours had a little side office with a refrig. (I guess it used to be a closet in the day). Love what they did making modern comfort and welcoming and maintained the integrity of the original era. The restaurant, Niles, was superb. Loved it!
"Bring Earplugs and confirm your room in advance"
Just returned from a four night stay in The Stewart Hotel, NYC... Overall I had a very poor experience, particularly with my room and the front office dept. I booked a Queen suite for my stay, when I arrived I was told this room was not available due to power cuts, the power-cut happened two days before my arrival, the hotel had plenty of time to email be informing me my room was not available and let me decide if I wanted a downgrade, this did not happen - I was therefore downgraded to a room with a sofa and work station, the room was good in terms of size but that was its only positive feature. I agreed with the front office manager I was happy to take the downgrade if it was reflected in the final price... This discount was applied after a long wait on checkout and much debate with the front office team... The room itself was very tired and needs attention, however above this were the noise levels - It was nonstop... I was on the 17th floor, the roadworks below felt like they were next door - I understand you cant control roadworks - but don't allocate rooms to people directly over construction work. The old AC unit was equally noisy and obviously needs upgrading. The constant banging of doors from other rooms on the corridor also added to the noise levels - Its so simple to fit a soft closing devise to each door to stop this.... Even the earplugs I had to buy did not help!! Hotels are in the business of selling comfortable spaces to sleep and relax - In My opinion The Stewart hotel fails on this fundamental principle.
The hotel is in a perfect location right across the street from Madison Square Garden and walking distance to Times Square. I want to give an EXCELLENT rating to the concierge Angie Castro! Very knowledgable and what a great personality! She made our stay at this hotel excellent!! Shower and bathroom a bit small but room was a good size over all we had a king size bed with a pullout couch.
I have to say that this hotel is a great venue for conferences, trainings, etc.... food is so tasty and the service is super, I have attended a training program in the past and the experience is the same, I want to mention Katherine and Isabel for the great service and also to Alex Baret one of the banquet managers who has been delivering great great service and always on point, I always recommend this hotel, once again thank Alex and his stuff
