Excellent stay, rooms a little dated but clean and very quiet even though the hotel was full. Staff can't do enough and excellent location.Comment of G. Christine , Canada the 2015-11-07
Comment of K. Patrick , Germany the 2015-02-27
Sehr nettes Hotel in zentraler Lage. Ausgezeichnete Bar/Restaurant im Erdgeschoß angeschlossen. Die Zimmermöbel zeigen schon deutliche Gebrauchssuren, sind aber voll in Funktion. Personal sehr freundlich, engagiert.Comment of H. Otto , Austria the 2014-09-08
Excellent !! Kinda sums it all up in one word 😊 Rooms are lovely, front door men are helpful and always smiling, stagfing is superb, food in room and restaurant is delicious and is in the center of downtown close to restaurants stopping Robson St, Gaston, Coal Harbour, English Bay are only minutes away
We stayed here because it is a partner hotel of the Rocky Mountaineer and we could get picked up and transferred to the railway station as part of our package. It is in a very good location just minutes from Robson Street and the main shopping nightlife area and also has very good proximity to the Sea Wall trail. The room and bathroom were well appointed with everything we needed, good quality spa products, robes/slippers, decent towels. Fridge, water and mini bar if required. Enormous comfortable bed etc etc. Our room looked over the front of the hotel but was very quiet. The staff were helpful especially the older and younger gentleman who were the concierge on duty whilst we were there. The pool was delightful and at 6 o'clock in the morning I had it mostly to myself. There is a small shop on site selling basic things and coffee. Lots of public areas to sit and relax and the reception area is quite stunning. The on site restaurant The Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar is amazing a do not miss dining experience. Having stayed in Vancouver before at a different hotel I would definitely stay at The Sutton Place again for all of the above reasons.
"My hotel of choice - top notch service "
As a Vancouverite I have stayed at many hotels, if I have a choice I will choose Sutton Place every time, we always book rooms for after our Christmas party and everyone loves it. We always recommend to and visitors to Vancouver book the Sutton. The rooms are comfortable, beds heavenly and the service professional and warm/friendly. Restaurant on site is wonderful. The Grand Residence side is perfect for a home away from home, nicely furnished with everything you could need including a fully equipped kitchen. While you are here, walk over to the grocery store to stock up on snacks, and on the way back pop in to the on site wine store. I am booked first weekend of November and I can't wait.
My wife and I stayed recently for our trip to Vancouver to go to the Kings of Leon concert. We live in Victoria and it has been tougher and tougher over the years to attend concerts in Vancouver due to sky rocketing prices of hotel rooms. It wasn't that long ago that you could stay for a third of today's prices. This fact wouldn't be as tough to swallow if the hotel delivered on the value for the cost. Sadly this hotel did not. The cost was $300/night...booked 4 months in advance..otherwise it would have been more. What we got was a dated and very average hotel room. The biggest surprise was being charged $20 a day for wifi.....this is embarrassing. In a time when basically everywhere offers it for free the fact that an "upscale" hotel still charges was disappointing to say the least. And hotels are complaining about Airbnb....we went to the Coldplay concert a few weeks prior. For $200 night we stayed in a beautiful Airbnb condo about a 3 min walk from the venue. It came with a full kitchen, free secured underground parking (Sutton charges $40/night) and free wifi! This is a turning point for us. Only Airbnb from now on. I am sorry Sutton but you don't get to charge more for less. See ya!
Not sure if the deceit was deliberate or it was inability of the front desk to understand the English language. When I asked questions about our 1 bedroom "Premium Room" I got answers that were nonsensical. The one regarding view was" hotel fully booked". I asked again was told it "had not been renovated" (though it was a premium ) Third attempt was answered all rooms "City View". Got to the top floor "premium View' was 10 feet to a cement wall. Suggest training be provided to staff on Honesty, Knowledge of the property and how do deal with guests questions
