Excellent stay, rooms a little dated but clean and very quiet even though the hotel was full. Staff can't do enough and excellent location.Comment of G. Christine , Canada the 2015-11-07
Comment of K. Patrick , Germany the 2015-02-27
Sehr nettes Hotel in zentraler Lage. Ausgezeichnete Bar/Restaurant im Erdgeschoß angeschlossen. Die Zimmermöbel zeigen schon deutliche Gebrauchssuren, sind aber voll in Funktion. Personal sehr freundlich, engagiert.Comment of H. Otto , Austria the 2014-09-08
"Bait and Switch / Terrible customer service"
I booked on Expedia, as I usually do, this time the Expedia rate and the actual rate I had to pay were very different. Plus wifi was extra, very expensive. When I received the receipt I was shocked at the price of one nights accommodations, The clerk did nothing, I asked for the manager, the manager did nothing - he was dismissive. Not even an attempt to correct my experience. Terrible customer service.
"Just ok for me "
The hotel had many glowing reviews on TripAdvisor . Perhaps it was due to this that I had high expectations before I checked into the hotel . Sometimes, these high expectations fall Short . Pros - Great location ( bring next to the Super market was the best thing ) , Super comfy beds , helpful concierge . Little shop in lobby was well stocked , including sandwiches , fruits n coffee . Wine shop next door , great hotdog stand outside the hotel . Fancy lobby . Ice water with lemon slices in lobby is a nice touch . Cons - I can't understand why the hotel has yet to look into it's wifi - Pay- per- day policy despite so many comments . They should just add this to the room rates . WIFI is free only in the lobby. Room was small for North America standard . Even the coffee maker was tucked under the cabinet . And the closest available electrical plug was on another desk . V inconvenient and I ended not using it . - for the fancy lobby and room rates, the range of toiletries were disappointing （eg.no shower cap )And I am comparing to the hotels I stayed in Victoria and Nanaimo. - the bathroom needs renovation - maybe I am spoiled by hotels in Asia , a fancy hotel would offer at least a pair of complimentary bottled water Sutton Place has all the hardware but seems to lack the little things for the Traveller. I really hope that they can look into it.
"Incredible Hotel - And So Reasonably Priced"
The Sutton Place Hotel is a real five star hotel. Compared to anything anywhere and their attention to detail is top-shelf. The staff could not be more welcoming the Bellman the doorman the concierge front desk the beautiful Lobby the overstuffed chairs the people checking on you to see if everything's alright the first class restaurant connected to the lobby using fine Crystal and making excellent cappuccino the second floor is filled for meetings weddings and whatever other group functions you would like but now let's go to the room the room is so detailed everything down to a emery board cotton balls and things that I would never use but by golly they're all there. And the view out the window across the skyline were stunning it was like having a 6 foot by 10 foot TV showing the skyline of the city. We literally sat there and watch the sunset and watch the buildings and we were in heaven. The bed was so soft and I love that the towels were equally soft and I love that too. The price was so reasonable I want to come back and just spend a week staying here. Located near everything in the downtown where if you can't find it you probably didn't need it. A short connection to all types of Transportation and we just generally loved everything about this place. It was a good place to stay after 2 a cruise ship to spend one day chilling and preparing ourselves to fly home the next day. Can't say enough good things about this place. I think you get the idea.
"Lovely rooms "
The rooms are really good. Took a king room and it's not a typical single room like other hotels. There's a sitting area. The downtown view from the room is awesome. Free parking as well. And the hotel is conveniently located to visit a lot of places downtown.
Stayed at the Sutton Place hotel for one night on May 18th. Found the hotel to be outdated and overrated. Requested a room on a higher floor hoping to take advantage of a Vancouver view/skyline. Was given a room on the 14th floor but facing the West End, so got a view of nothing more than back alleys and old buildings. Room was tiny and cramped, and bathroom was old and outdated. Biggest gripe for me was having to pay for wifi (which itself was pretty average and kept cutting out). I've seen other reviews highlight this, and the management response is to simply copy and paste a generic response of "wifi is included in one of our premium packages" or some similar lazy copy and paste effort but come on - it's 2017 and just about every hotel includes this in their bills (especially when paying higher end prices like the Sutton). Great location, but do too are many other hotels in the area. If given the choice and a hotel of a similar price point...I would opt for somewhere else.
