"A very secure hotel in dakar"
While I did enjoy my stay with the room private sit out , I was made to run to the reception atleast 5 times in my 4 days of stay for the electronic locking system conked and it was not easy to walk to the reception which was atleast 100 meters away from my room, over all good experience with Casino and swimming pool well maintained. break fast was below par.
Be very aware when using a credit card with this hotel. I was overcharged as they took money from two different cards. When I sent proof of this I was initially ignored and when I pressed the matter I was told that the Terrou Bi doesn’t overcharge - despite the proof I sent. Now two months later I have no choice but to post here to warn other travelers and I will also contact the tourist police in Dakar.
First, it stinks. I don't know how they 'bought' their 5 stars but I've been in better 2 star hotels. Then, the AC doesn't work anywhere in the building. Hot water is warm so get that in your head. The facilities are a joke (except the pool). Gym is smaller than my room. Breakfast is terrible. But above all of this, the service is truly atrocious. You can expect lazy feet dragging staff to chit chat at the reception for hours before they come. I truly hate this place and spending 5 days of my life here is a real regret. I will never come back. I heard the Radisson is better but I don't know...try it before trying this place.
"I’m not handicapped, am I'"
After checking in, the first room I tried had a faulty door, so I waited a while for a solution. They eventually booked me into another room. As I was getting ready to shower, I realised something. The showerhead was at hip level, there was a seat in the shower, the basin was also hip level…..this is a room for someone with a wheelchair! After I pointed out the error, I was moved again, thankfully for the last time. At least I can inform my wheelchair-bound friends that Terrou Bi is well prepared for them. Even the TV is tilted downwards for easy viewing and the bed is harder than the other rooms. The room I eventually ended up in was spacious and the bed was comfortable. There are some very nice restaurants around, have dinner on the deck. The lagoon is also beautiful and it’s very relaxing to lie next to it for a bit of chill… TV – Yes not bad, but too high, also struggling to connect for some reason. Pillows – Medium, could make it work with two. Room-service burger – Not bad, but not really awesome either. Meh Gym – Another poor attempt, seems like an afterthought. Couple of cardio machines and a bench or two. Could not really get anything done. Then again, you could just run out the gate and use one of the many exercise sites along the beach. Very well thought out, safe and popular! And also another great pool for training. WiFi – Not bad, stayed connected well enough.
"Great business hotel"
Great hotel, but got a dose of food poisoning. Be careful what you eat. They went through a big rigmarole to try and explain why I got sick from a shrimp salad. Waste of time. None the less one of the better hotels in Dakar.
