"Terrible...in bad need of update!"
The lobby of the hotel is quite nice and the staff is friendly. The rooms however are very old. They have tried to put some newer furniture in the rooms to make the decor a bit more modern but the bones of the hotel are falling apart. The toilets barely flush, the bathrooms are very old, and the balcony is crumbling in many of the rooms. I would never stay here again.
"A decent business hotel in a good location and with excellent wifi"
My initial impression of The Capital was that its proximity to a main road meant that the rooms were very noisy, even on the 18th floor. I think that initial impression was a little harsh, not helped by an overnight flight. I wouldn't say the executive room I booked was particularly executive, other than a table to work at, while the rooftop pool is more like a paddling pool, the depth of which barely reached my knees. If you are looking for a place for a swim after a day's meetings, this is not it. Still, the wifi was fast and the (free) breakfast decent enough.
I liked the stay at The Capital. Clean rooms, good service, nice and helpful staff at the front desk. I don't speak Portugese, so they facilitated my meal orders with the neightboring restaurant. Only point of attention might be that although staying in an appartment there are no facilities to make coffee.
"Should be good but lacks attention to detail"
A collection of small details not being in place stop this hotel being as good as it should be. Collectively, they added up to a disappointing experience. The good: Lots of staff Nice lobby Rooftop pool is lovely and a quiet oasis from the bustle of Sao Paulo Comfortable beds The bad: I stayed in three rooms over 10 days in and out of the city. Lot of items in the rooms are chipped, stained or broken. One of my TVs was loose and at an angle, another fuzzy. There were chips on tables, or stains on worktops. The balcony doors in 2 of 3 rooms wouldn't seal shut, meaning my room was noisy, particularly on the 8th floor and on any room on the West side, where I was woken avery morning by extremely loud music from the ground floor fitness studio next door. The wifi is close to unusable. It's meant to be a business hotel but I couldn't work there as the wifi was so slow. Once I was unable to run a speed test as it was so slow, the other time it clocked under 1mb. I had to wait 30mins to send an email with a modest attachment. Breakfast was mediocre. I've had far better at low cost pousadas in Brazil. Bland cakes and hard pastries. Front of house was haphazard. I had asked for an early check in after landing on a long flight, I was told I'd need to pay for that. I said OK. When I arrived the room wasn't ready. I said I'd wait. After waiting I was told I'd need to wait another two hours. Eventually I borrowed a towel and showered at my office. I came back in the afternoon as I'd given up on sleep and after waiting for service, got to my room, but someone else was in it. Eventually I was given another room. My overall experience was disappointing because the hotel looks set up to deliver a great experience but I was left wanting more.
"Needs urgent renovation"
Old hotel, rooms are small, corridors stinks, Towels and amenities cheap, blackout doesn't work, noisy, pictures do not show the real hotel, needs to close and run a urgent renovation on the entire property.
