"Ruined last part of holiday "
We found the stay at the hotel Comfortable and convenient as it is very close to a metro station which allowed us to access all the sites easily. For a 4 star restaurant the room was very small and dated and we had trouble with the toilet, though it didn't majorly affect the holiday. What encouraged me to write a review was the way in which we were treated on the last day as we were checking out. We had an airport transfer booked for 6.45 pm and understood after a conversation with the reception staff that we would come downstairs to leave from the hotel at this time. At no point were we informed that we had to check out at 12 with all of our cases and come back to the hotel which was a massive inconvenience but I understand if the Rooms are needed for other guests. My issue was with the way the staff dealt with this matter, the cleaner who spoke no English was knocking the door trying to remove us from the room even though we hadn't even began to pack or get ready, as we were unable to understand what she was saying we were left very confused and forced to throw all of our things in a case. A man I assume to be a manager followed afterwards and hounded us out of the room with 0 effort to appease our stress, as a result we left the hotel in clothes we'd slept in the night before and were forced to loiter around in nearby bars for 6 hours while waiting for transport, I felt very embarrassed. We were also taxed €74 upon check out which left us with no money for the rest of the day, while I now I understand that city tax has to be enforced, I feel as though we should have been told at an earlier stage by the hotel. After the rude harassment and unhelpful behaviour we faced from the staff which ruined the last day of our holiday there is no way we would consider returning and would encourage others to look elsewhere before booking their holiday
"Lovely Hotel "
Came to the church palace as a surprise for my 30th Birthday. The hotel and grounds are stunning. We especially enjoyed having drinks in the outdoor square. The guy who worked on the bar through most of our stay was lovely and really attentive. Our room was good. Huge bed and very clean. My only flaws were the lack of wardrobe space and the air con was on the floor so didn't really do much cooling. Other than that the room was spot on. The cleaners were in every morning with clean bedding and fresh towels which was nice. Breakfast was good, lots of different types of breads, pastries, Jams, cereals, fruit also a hot section which I didn't bother with. Coffee machine and juice machine. We also ordered sandwiches from the bar one lunch time and we were pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was huge!! Plus it came with a heap full of chips so for the price it was well worth it. So tasty as well! We also decided to eat in the little square and our favourite bar man brought us out little tables. We used the hotels transportation a couple of times (Vatican and airport) really nice cars and the driver was very smartly dressed. All in all I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking.
"Overall a good experience"
We stayed in this hotel in May 2017 for 4 night. One of the main reason for us to choose this hotel was its location near metro station. It's also quite close to Vatican. The hotel itself is from the outside and in common spaces absolutelly stunning. Staff was very friendly and we were happy with the breakfast. The standard rooms are nicely equipped, but very very small. Nothing else than a double bed and small bathroom could fit in there. The maintanance of the room could be improved as well, it may be small details, but overall they worsen the hotel reputation.
"It was okay"
I'll start with the positives. The staff were lovely and very helpful when need be. The buffet breakfast was great and the surrounding location is stunning! The ground floor bar and terrace is quite a cool place to relax and grab a drink at too. The location isn't too bad either, it may seem quite out of the way but the underground is a 5 min walk away and gets you to all the good spots in no time. The reason I've only given 3 stars however is because I'm not too sure how this hotel has been given a 4* rating... The room kind of let the hotel down a bit...we stayed in a deluxe room which was very basic, no tea/coffee amenities and our only window faced the bins outside. The shower didn't really work very well with the water spouting only from two holes' We also found it a bit odd that there was no storage space for clothes etc - we had 3 people to a room with only 6 or so hangers. On the last morning, we were looking forward to a bit more of a lie in after a few really early starts only to be woken up abruptly by loud banging coming from the staff in the corridor which lasted about 10 mins or so - not much consideration for sleeping guests at 7am there. I really wanted to love this place but wasn't wow'd by any means. We did expect a bit more from the room facilities given it's a 4* hotel.
"Great hotel ; little things..."
We really liked the hotel and where it was with a metro station nearby. Lots near to see & shop. The service was good and the drinks and food were good too, Breakfast was very good. The only things, rooms were small, lots of door slamming ( you must close door firmly to close) ; A handy phone with free internet is included -a great thing !
