"Very Good but Claridges is better!! "
Stayed here as it’s a sister hotel to Claridges which I adore so wanted to give it a try. The location is the best! I love Mount St and you’re right in the heart of Mayfair. The staircase is stunning - a real feature. Initially I was given a room in the contemporary part of the hotel. I would highly recommend requesting a room in the original hotel as the ceilings are higher and you get a lot more original features in the room. Both rooms seemed recently renovated. I had expected the hotel to be more discreet and quiet but it was the opposite. Always buzzy and couldn’t find a seat at any of the bars (it was a Saturday night). It’s a solid 5 star hotel option but lacks the magical atmosphere of Claridges and the personal approach. I know where I will stay in future...
"Impress her for Valentine's Day"
On the actual Valentine's day I was in Hong Kong. So the weekend before we went to the Connaught for the Hélène Darroze restaurant (will get it's own review). The hotel and location are amazing. The service is second to none. The rooms and building are gorgeous. The cocktail bar is as it should be. Couldn't find any fault. The doormen are fab.
"I wouldn't stay anywhere else"
The staff of the Connaught treats us well and spoils us. The rooms are comfortable and elegant. The food is delicious - who else serves a full Japanese breakfast' Makes the best martinis with bitters (and i don't even DRINK martinis!)' The hotel is so pleasant we just don't want to leave.
Stayed for one night for business at The Connaught and had dinner in the newly refurbished restaurant, Jean-Georges. Its hard not to be impressed with the service, attention to detail and luxurious feel to this hotel. My room was furnished with feather pillows on request ahead of time and while I was waiting in the Coburg Bar for a colleague to arrive, I quickly received my drink and was offered a selection of newspapers to read. Nice touches all the way through and its why it is my favourite places to stay in London.
