"Great location and friendly staff but..."
I’ve recently started staying at the intercon on a more regular basis because it is so conveniently located to our Melb office and I love the feel of the entrance / foyer area. I am reconsidering this choice of hotel because I find the rooms tired and always with small maintenance issues - particularly on the “automatic” blind. I’ve had a couple of rooms with very high street noise including industrial bins being emptied at 4 am on my most recent stay. More frustrating is that every time I stay I get asked if this is my first time at the hotel despite my ihg membership being on my registration and it seems that the rooms I end up with are getting further away from everything and more poorly maintained. Not what I expect of a premium hotel offering and as others are suggesting there are probably better options.
I stayed in a Deluxe King Room on the Rialto side but a view of the atrium with a balcony would have added more value to the stay and made it perfect (so would recommended asking for this when you book). The hotel is visually stunning, a real treat and the facilities/amenities are second to none. It has a very genuine luxury feel and the staff are immaculately dressed, attentive and diligent. So close to all major attractions yet also a quiet peaceful location. Really enjoyed my stay.
"Good location. A bit unique but no view "
Located in the lower end of COLLINS st. It is the old wool stores converted. Good service with doormen to meet and assist. But there is no views from the rooms. The decore is starting to age and the hallway carpet needs replacing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Meals very dear with breakfasts $42 per person. Beds and rooms were comfortable and spacious enough.
"very nice experience !"
Stayed during Melbourne cup week. booked a suite with interconnecting room for our adult daughter who had travelled in from overseas separately . Found the staff to be very helpful and friendly although all of our needs were taken care of Kishor from the club so we didn't have a lot of contact with many other staff. Nothing was too much trouble for Kishor and his colleagues and we found him to be very accommodating with early/later check outs etc. Apart from breakfast in the club we didn't eat anywhere else in the hotel so again unable to comment specifically. Made contact with the hotel prior to arrival for issues such as interconnecting rooms and hair makeup artists for wife and daughter and again service was first class. We will stay again. Room 521/522 at front of hotel so had daylight entering windows and sound of busy Collins street traffic not too distracting.
"4th time stay for a short trip"
The hotel has been the same everytime i have visit. Service is generally pretty good. Staff are friendly. I have only ever stayed at the junior suite so that room has always been nice. The hotel is in a good location as you can go anywhere by trams. The room we stayed in was abit noisy due to construction work in the morning and a bar outside at nightwhich i couldnt blame the hotel. However it would be nice that staff do warn us as i was woken up at 8 am everyday including weekend from noise. I feel that as a IHG platinum member i dint recevice any benefit at this hotel in particular. Not once have i been upgrade or offered free breakfast unlike of intercontinental hotel i stay qith in the past
