"VERY disappointed dark and dingy and lacking a lot for a 4 star hotel"
We arrived at about 10pm no bell boy to open door or help with bags to room, no minibar no ice whichare all normal services for a 4 star US hotel.. where was the 24hr free coffee''' We asked got told about a water and vending machine in gym. Phone didnt work properly from room so concierge made calls that I am capable of making!! Very noisy A/C and you can hear the ac of all the buildings. bathroom Ok bed small and matress needed to be changed Lastly we needed a 2AM wake up call which we booked at reception desk for early airport and they forgot !!!!!! I thought we had a booked a quirky 4 star hotel with character it was just dark and old very sad about our stay here.
"Good location, average facilities"
Just stayed for a few days. This old-fashioned hotel is unpretentious and good value in an expensive city. The location is its biggest positive point - most of midtown Manhattan is walkable. The rooms are quite small, but fine if you need somewhere simple to sleep on a tourist visit, but it does not really work as a potential business visit choice.
"Wonderful Stay at The Mansfield Hotel (NYC)"
Several people have described me as being someone who is virtually impossible to please. That I set the proverbial bar too high. Possess unrealistic expectations. Spot-on, accurate perceptions – indeed. My learning history requires nothing less from me. Indeed, I apply lofty “demands” to all I know – just ask my family, friends, and colleagues. Not surprisingly, I also judge my own decisions by high standards. Always have and always will. So why wouldn’t I require the absolute best from the hotels I select when traveling' Well – that’s precisely what I did when I planned a trip to my home city (New York City). I wanted to select the best hotel based on location, quality, price, and customer service. Not surprisingly, I researched about a dozen properties. Narrowing the number down to three or four was relatively easy – but how would I select the best one for my upcoming journey' After considerable research, which included reading a hundreds of reviews and speaking to several customer service representatives, as well as a few general managers – I selected The Mansfield Hotel. Located on 5th Avenue and West 44th Street – the property is just a few blocks away from Times Square and the Theater District – and all the excellent restaurants imaginable. A perfect location. I’m pleased to report that The Mansfield Hotel met even my heightened expectations. Fantastic room (upgraded), delicious continental breakfast (complimentary), appropriately priced, and accommodating staff from the front desk personnel (Albert) to the General Manager (Erwin). The property satisfied all of my criteria. Summarizing: I strongly encourage you to consider The Mansfield Hotel if you’re thinking about staying in New York City. I’m not accustomed to offering such high praise – but the property is that good. Absolutely so. It exceeded my high demands and I’m confident it will yours, as well.
"A classic throwback"
Nothing but positive things to say about this hotel. If you like a rustic, classic New York vibe then this is the hotel for you. Staff Is incredibly friendly- Enjoyed my time. Close to time square but reminiscent of old NY
Loved the espresso machine! The staff is friendly. The hotel is in a terrific location. We plan to come back again next year. It is an older hotel but we loved it. It is close to Grand Central Station.
