"Great location. Character. Charm. Service."
I did my research so I knew what to expect when booking the Mansfield. It probably isn’t for everyone; if you’re looking for a big box hotel it’s not for you. I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. Great location if you’re looking to see a show but do not want to stay in Times Square. Great location for shopping. On to the accommodations...the hotel makes the most of the small spaces, attention to detail & comfort. The king sized bed was very comfortable as were the sheets & pillows. The bathroom is small but the shower was divine. Stone step in with quality appliances. My room did not have a view due to the construction of the exterior facade. Normally this would have irritated me but it worked well to escape from the hustle & bustle of the streets below. Noise level may be a problem if you have loud people stay in the rooms nearby. I definitely could hear them coming & going but could not hear conversations or TVs. Could hear the typical sirens & street noise of NYC but it wasn’t overwhelming from my 3rd floor room. I did not eat in the hotel or use the bar. Continental breakfast was $10/person & did not look worth it. Too many other dining options outside of the hotel. I didn’t use the gym or business center, either. I did sit in the “chess room” which was very nice quiet space that maintained the integrity & history of the property. My one suggestion for the hotel is to offer free, faster internet to its guests. This small luxury would’ve given the hotel 5 stars. The free internet offered is slow & you have to pay to upgrade to faster internet. Overall, I would stay here again. The hotel is reminiscent to hotels I’ve stayed in in Europe. Charming but super small elevator & creaky floors. Front desk staff efficient & helpful. Stored luggage before/after check out & arranged transport to Laguardua for $55.
"Good location on Club Row"
When I stayed, it was rennovating. I've stayed in the unrenovated and renovated rooms. The unrenovated are fine -- traditional older building feel; of course the renovated rooms have more a contemporary feel. I stay am looking for the deal so choose the less costly rooms. The rooms I have stayed in are small but efficient. while not right next any subway station, a block or 2 from many!-- GCT, 7 train, BDFM
"If you are looking for luxury, this isn't it"
While we didn't go to New York to be in our hotel room, there were several issues with this one. The only actual light in the room was one small table lamp and one corner lamp. The only decent lighting to get ready in was the bathroom and there was no space to put make up, curling iron, etc. There was no iron in the room, I had to ask for one to be brought up. We came back to the hotel during one of our very exhausting days only to find that our room key did not work. We had to go back downstairs to get new keys. The elevators are old and slow. I would not recommend staying here.
The Mansfield hotel was the best hotel I’ve visited so far. The location was perfect and the personnel was incredible!! Especially Robert and Albert were amazing! They’ve helped me and my friends so much and made our stay in the city that never sleeps perfect!
The hotel is small but cozy, we had a delux room and it was pretty big with pull out couch! The hotel is a good price considering the distance to all mayor tourists stops! I would stay where again, one street from 5th ave.
