This is my second stay in the marmara pera hotel and I will surely make it every time am in Istanbul. The hotel is in the city centre about 100 m from the famous istiklal street where u can make shopping and enjoy the food and the Turkish tea and shisha. Very gentle staff and welcoming , we had 2 connected rooms in the 17 floor , great view of the city . Very clean room , toilet amenities, every day they offer 2 water bottles for free with the tea and coffee that u can enjoy looking at the city.variety of the breakfast very tasty. everything was nice. U can enjoy the swimming pool on the rooftop, the gym , and the restaurants in the hotel.i front of the hotel u u can find a taxi whenever u want day and night. I look forward to stay again on my next visit.
"Definitely not value-for-money, poor housekeeping service, over-rated room, great views"
It was my 3rd stay in the hotel and the worse so far. I chose the hotel due to its great location, amazing views, great rooms size, service and amenities, but despite my great previous 2 experiences, this one was by far the worse. I decided to stay for 13 nights and experienced all sort of different housekeeping services. I was always placing the cards to have the bed linens cleaned, but it came to my attention that a few times the bed linens were not changed at all as evidenced by the wrinkles on the sheets and there were not ironed nor cleaned. I even found hair on my sink, which was not mine!!! The first two days the bathroom sink was not removing the water and had to call the hotel engineer to fix it. Every time I tried to communicate with the housekeeping staff, they did not understand english and we had to use the reception as a translator. The toilet paper was not placed in its write place. Housekeeping forgot to bring few times one or two towels. Garbage was not removed. In my previous two stays, in my room there was a portable palm device called "Handy", which is very helpful for sightseing, phonecalls, wifi connection, etc. In my 3rd stay it did not exist in the room. Mini bar prices are extremely high.... The hotel provides complimentary water bottles. More than once, the housekeeping forgot to bring those bottles and had to call reception to arrange it. Every morning, the housekeeping was doing huge noise while cleaning nearby rooms or passing by the corridor. I used to hear loud talks, calls in mobiles, etc.... and they were always waking me up with their voices and noise despite the "do not disturb" sign. It was a no smoking room, but I could smell the smoke from other rooms.... Seems that the no smoking sign was not respectable.
"Good hotel "
It was my first time in this hotel however i didn’t regret it, at the begging i didn’t like the Hotel but later i like how close it is to taksim and the staff are nice, didn’t try the food. All in all i recommend it.
"Fantastic Views , located on istiklal street"
This is a good hotel with an amazing roof top pool with great views of the city . The breakfast option was just ok not much variety but the best part was the location . It's a quick walk to Istiklal , love it could stay there all day , many cafes around and clubs too. The hotel is clean and easy access for cabs .
"Great views, great service"
Typically, I like to spend the last night of vacation is a fancy-shmancy hotel to treat the family to a night of comfort before the long haul home. Marmara Pera delivered in spades. Not only was the view from the room breathtaking but the room was comfortable and service was impeccable. The following story can give you an idea of how awesome these guys are. Well, two stories, actually. We had taken a cab over to Uskudar from the hotel to experience a less touristy side of Istanbul and after spending a day walking around the neighborhood mistakenly went to a taxi stand to get a ride back to Pera. I should have known we were in for a ride when they assured me they knew exactly where we were going and to hop right in. Twenty minutes later we are cruising at speed way off the map. Long story short, we get back to the hotel (finally) and he wants to charge me FIVE TIMES what we paid to get to Uskudar. Now granted, this is what the meter came to but I called him out on it as soon as we got out of the cab. The two hotel staff standing outside came over when they saw what was going on and proceeded to calmly explain to the driver that he isn't going to get paid the extravagant rip-off fare and to take what I was offering (about 1.5 times what we paid the first driver). Many thanks to those guys for diffusing a situation where my New Yorker attitude was quickly escalating. On a separate occasion, I left my phone in another cab. The guys at Marmara Pera were able to track him down, retrieve my phone while we were out at dinner and even paid the cab fare for me. I mean, really. Besides me being an idiot twice in one visit, what other hotel would go out of their way like this' Rest assured, next time we are in Istanbul, we will be staying with our guardian angels at the Marmara Pera.
