"Another Great Kimpton Experience"
Full disclosure: we love Kimpton Hotels and stay at them in NYC, Philadelphia and Baltimore. We've come to rely on the combination of quality, service, friendliness, location and the overall value they provide. The Kimpton Muse delivered in all of these areas. It's located on 46th St between 6th and 7th Ave. That's an absolutely great location for the theater district and not bad for Madison Square Garden (where we would attend a concert that evening). The area traffic is a bit much ... but it is midtown Manhattan. We arrived just after noon on a Saturday, and were checked in, although the room would not be ready until about 2pm. We left our bags and used the time to have a light lunch at a very good Cuban restaurant across the street. The room was on the 16th floor (no view) and was perfect. Everything had been updated and was very modern. Particularly enjoyed the bathroom touches such as the walk-in shower (no tub), rain shower head fixture, glass shower door on barn door hardware, appropriately strong water pressure and new toilet. The king size bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for a seating bench at the foot of the bed as well as a desk and comfortable office chair nearby. While we did not take advantage of the included wine happy hour, we did enjoy the complimentary coffee and NY Times Sunday morning. We also enjoyed a continental breakfast (for a $10 per person fee). The hotel served GF free bread rolls on request with this breakfast. The only complaint we had, and which we shared with the front desk at check-out, was the rush by the cleaning crew to get into our room Sunday morning. With check-out at 12 noon, we did not expect a knock on the door at 9:30am to see if we had left and when I put the "do not disturb' sign on the door after that, a return knock on the door at 11:15am for the same purpose. The front desk took the complaint seriously and promised to report it to the manager. I also want to acknowledge the door man's hustle to secure a taxi Sunday morning. Due to the traffic congestion, there are no left turns permitted from 7th Ave onto 46th St, which means only cross traffic from 8th Ave already on 46th St comes through. The door man had to trot up to 7th Ave and bring the taxi back after waiting 4-5 minutes with no empty taxis.. Appreciated that!
"Weekend get away !"
My wife and I checked in 11/11/17 for her birthday weekend. My buddy travels frequently for business and suggested the Kimpton chain. I had previously called the hotel around noon requesting early check-in which they stated they would accommodate. Checking was quick and easy. We were assisted by Daniel Hutt, what a great guy...Friendly, helpful and definitely a major asset to the Kimpton. He told us everything we needed to know: free wine happy hour 5-6 pm, becoming a Kimpton rewards member, bar hours, nearby eateries and assisted us in broadway show details! The bar and restaurant hours are limited in the winter which does suck but the hotel is located at 46th and 6 which is near numerous restaurants and bars. The room was clean, up dated and sleek. Mini bar for a surcharge, safe flat screen and so on. If you forget tooth brushes or other essentials the front desk will gladly provide those free of charge. Ask for a higher floor which have better views. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely helpful and friendly. Daniel made us brunch reservation for Blue fin eatery nearby which included a complimentary dessert compliments of Kimpton for my wife's birthday. We booked through the hotels website.
"Almost a great stay "
Everything started off great. Check in was quick and easy, which was good because traffic caused us to be late for dinner. We ran to our room, dropped of our belongings, and out the door to dinner. When we got back to the hotel around 11pm we were disappointed to see there was no late night room service and were left with snacks from a drawer. This was not the real issue but a bit disappointing. The REAL problem came the next day at check out. We called ahead as the valet ticket stated, gathered our belongings and headed doorstairs. After checking out we were informed our vehicle had not arrived yet and it would be here momentarily. After 20 minutes and watching several other people get cars that called after us, the valet asked us for our ticket. He called it in again to discover the front desk never called for our car when we called from the room. Another 20 minutes pass and still no car. At that point I became frustrated and the valet escorted me to the counter so he could get a manager. When the manager came out I asked where the car was located because at this point I would walk and get it myself. Instead of offering to have her staff get it, she proceeded to tell me the address of the parking company and blame them. By the time she was done blaming everyone else, the front desk person had reached the parking company and advised the car had already left the garage and was on its way. I asked the manager to refund me the $59 parking fee since the parking service was so terrible. She asked my room number and advised she would. At that point our vehicle finally arrived one hour and 3 minutes from the first call. I was delighted to see when I got home my $59 parking charge had been refunded, but not a word of apology from the manager.
"Perfect NYC Hotel "
The muse is everything you could possibly desire in an NYC hotel. LOVE LOVE LOVE. 1.) friendly efficient check in (thank you Daniel!) 2.) clean spacious room 3.) fluffy bath robes (essential to any hotel stay) 4.) AMAZING SHOWER PRESSURE - honestly cannot speak highly enough about the shower experience overall. The bath products smell incredible- first time in my life I️ could consider buying the products used at a hotel! 5.) convenient location and if you forget any personal items during your stay the muse will deliver them to your room - tweezers, chargers, you name I️t! What more could you ask for' The muse is my home away from home and I️ cannot recommend I️t enough!
May daughter and I just returned today from a 3 night stay at Kimpton Muse. We were excited to stay at this hotel and appreciated the location to Times Square. For some reason we were assigned to a handicap accessible room which provided slightly more room. With that said, room was clean and in decent condition. A couple of bath need replaced. I also thought the sheets need freshened up as they seemed dingy. The hotel staff were not friendly at all. No greeting...how may I help... Price warrants a higher level of service than what we received.
