The Roger New York is located on Madison Avenue. Just blocks from Grand Central Terminal and the Empire State Building, and a short stroll from fashionable SoHo and Madison Square Park.
We stayed here for my families wedding weekend. We were put in a room right outside the elevator and floor phone. When entering the room we told the bell hop we did not want this room due to the noise. He told us there will be no noise - no one ever complains. Well that was a lie. The elevator opened all night long and kept waking us up. Saturday night a group came in drunk at 1:30am and had problems on the elevator, couldn't get into the room then called downstairs screaming on the phone about their room key. Needless to say, our stay was awful and we were exhausted all weekend from lack of sleep. If you are going to put a family into a room like that they should be told ahead of time and it should cost less money. We will never stay at your hotel again and will let our friends/family know of this.
"Cute, well located boutique hotel"
We have stayed at the Roger a number of times over the past several years, and returned recently for a three night stay. The hotel is conveniently located in "NoMad", with easy access to other parts of Manhattan. The Roger is a cute, friendly, boutique hotel with very little staff turnover (for example, our breakfast waiter remembered us from our last stay several years ago). The only significant downside is noise, both street and HVAC. In recent renovations to the hotel, apparently someone forgot to improve the soundproofing of the windows. And the HVAC is noisy as it cycles on and off. So, bring your ear plugs -- a good idea for most NYC hotels.
"Perfect for me"
I stay here when traveling to New York for work and I always have a great experience. Actually, the customer service gets better every time. Some rooms are very small, but that's typical for New York. Their restaurant has some really great food and their dirty martinis are to die for! I'll be coming back for sure.
"Good very central hotel"
the slat blinds in the room didn't work. so we couldn't have full light in the room and where also not able to open the windows. very nice was the daily happy hour at 5pm. there you meet other customers to talk with them
"Great boutique Hotel"
I regularly stay in hotels in NY and stayed here for 4 consecutive nights. The room was on the 5th floor. I had asked for a room with 2 queen sized beds and it was a fair size, quiet and clean. The room was efficiently serviced every day. The bathroom was modern with a large walk-in shower. I did not have breakfast at the hotel, but the dining area seemed very pleasant and welcoming. The front entrance was manned and the door always opened for us. Overall a very nice stay.
