Nice , Clean hotel. Excellent front desk staff that answered all our questions. The only down side. The bathroom and shower are on opposite ends of your room and the sinks are in the hallway. We were told our room was upgradeable. All the rooms in our category. Didn't see that happen. The floor plan was the same at another room. Gross , no sink in bathroom area. Privacy is another issue. The toilet is 2 feet from the bed. We didn't spend much time in our room so it was a minor issue. Housekeeping. We had a mini bar. I like Diet Coke. The refrigerator had everything but. I had to ask 3 times 2 different days for Diet Coke. You might think it's free .The staff at the pool and beach area Very polite and attentive. The also rent Jet Ski's Nice beach. We had complimentary breakfast included. Buffet style , omelettes the usual. Service is Hit or Miss. in the 5 days we stayed here. Either overly friendly and attentive or TOTALLY ignored. Our last dayI literally waited 35 minutes to close my tab. Which , by the way everything in South Beach 20% included in everything . Never came. The waiters were ghosts. Begged for coffee, napkins etc.... the worst experience . These people seemed over worked. Couldn't care less. We weren't the only people observing their misery. After 35 minutes I went to the front desk to tell them our experience. The Valet staff and house car. Excellent and over the top polite. A very quiet hotel especially where it's located. South Beach is Not Cheap. 2 drinks at our hotel $60.00. Tip included of course. We enjoyed our stay but I doubt I'd stay here again. Too many other hotels around that seemed very accommodating.
"Peaceful and elegant"
Total relaxing experience for our honeymoon. The hotel was kept in excellent condition, clean and well-appointed. The welcome is unique and totally memorable. The tea they give us totally delicious. Poolside service was good not great. Aside from having to wait for drink refills, the hotel did everything right.
Spent 3 nights at the Setai in mid October 2017 (supposedly low season, but the hotel was actually packed). I have mixed feelings about this hotel. First the positives: - Excellent location, in the top spot of Miami South Beach - Building reconstructed recently but reproducing an historical art-deco manufact - Rooms have state-of-the-art furniture which recalls the best Asian luxury hotels (to which the Setai is declaredly inspired) - Food at both the hotel restaurants is excellent, particularly at the main one, which boasts a creative Asian fusion touch - Service at both restaurants is top-level: the waitress at the main restaurant not only remembered my name from the night before, but also what food I had ordered and which wine I drank - unbelievable! - The beach is well equipped and very well served Here's the negatives: - Rooms in the main building do NOT have any sea view (the building is actually 150 metres from the beach, even if directly connected to it via a private path): this is somewhat frustrating, when you consider that the cheapest rooms retail for US$ 650/700 per night without breakfast off-season... - Despite having booked through Centurion (and thus in theory guaranteed early check-in), my room was not ready until 4:00pm, and it was materially different from the one I thought I had booked - Check-in procedure took forever and to be honest the lady I dealt with (who was by the way the manager in charge) was utterly unpleasant - I left one pair of trousers to be dry-cleaned: I received a bill that instead of posting US$ 18 (the official rate for trousers) was at $ 70: I complained the following morning, they told me that that was due to the fact that I handed the trousers after 2:00pm (which is their fault, given that check-in took two hours!) and that they were charged extra also because they are good quality.... Speechless, it is the first time I have been billed a "Loro Piana luxury goods charge", I kept the bill because I could not believe it.... - The SPA is minuscular, when considering the size of the hotel and the fact that it also serves the Setai residences nearby All in all, certainly a luxury hotel, and obviously a good address in Miami Beach, but very deceiving interaction with some people at the front desk and some significant areas for improvement....
My husband and I were there for 3 days and what we think about this hotel is: Wonderful hotel, fast service, cozy atmosphere and very attentive staff. My room was very nice also. Great location! And, the breakfast buffet is complete and marvelous.
"Not sure what all the fuss is about"
I recently stayed at the Setai and kept waiting to be wowed. Not sure why this place gets such high ratings. We were in one of their best, ocean-front rooms - a large two bedroom. It is furnished nicely and the big windows that face the ocean seem terrific when you arrive, then you realize your neighbors are looking right into your room from their balcony. No privacy at all. We were next to a family that thought it was a good idea to let their screaming child run around on the balcony every morning while they had their coffee. The outside area - where the reflective "pond" is - and breakfast is served looks beautiful but once you are out there you realize a few things - the cushions are old and stained, the backs of the sofas are no high enough to use without stacking up several stained pillows, and the area is really enclosed yet they allow smoking. Don't bother with lunch on the beach - our fish tacos were dry, overcooked and the portion was more snack than lunch. We had one glass of wine, two tacos, a salad to share and two coconut waters and our bill was nearly $200. I wouldn't mind if it was good, but... The spa and gym are small. No steam and the sauna is lovely, but really tiny. The massage therapists are average at best. The pool is nice and designed for a tranquil experience, but the property next door plays mind numbing music all day - with the base too low. Upon our departure we called for our car and told them three times we are at the residence not the hotel - they delivered our car to the hotel and we waited an additional 15 min for our car. Why do I remember telling the gal three times the residence' Because her attitude made it clear she was not listening and didn't care. The restaurant is terrific both in terms of decor and food - the service is really good, too. Next time I'd stay at another hotel and come here for dinner or lunch.
