"Villa for Days"
We recently stayed at The Shore for a period of 3 days. The hotel is a solid 45 minute ride from the airport, but when we arrived we were blown away by the room itself, the view and the effort that had been placed into preparing prior to our arrival. The swans shown so many times on reviews were also awaiting our arrival. The pre-organised breakfast was one of a kind with more delicious treats than anybody could ever eat! The hotel staff are lovely and accomodating to all requests. We particularly enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea service offered, this was a nice touch. The resort is fantastic for relaxing and is out of the hustle and bustle associated with Phuket. The only consideration is that local restaurants and amenities are limited as Katathani pretty much own the entire Kata Noi beach . Additionally you'll pay an extra 25% on the cost of a local massage. Overall however, this is a fantastic couples location and we would recommend it for anybody looking to treat themselves to a one of a kind sunset experience with wait for it.... no kids!
"A little bit of paradise."
I stayed here with my partner for two nights as part of a celebratory holiday. From the moment we arrived, the service couldn't have been any better. Due to an early arrival, we were offered a complimentary buffet breakfast in their harbour restaurant whilst we waited for our room to be ready. Once ready, we were taken to our room by a buggy which was absolutely amazing. Before arriving, you are sent a questionnaire and from this you can pick the scent of your room, flowers and fruit you want on arrival, which pillows you want on the bed and if you want music in the room. You can also pick to have breakfast in the room (or on the terrace) from a huge list of choices and they really do give very generous sized portions! It was my birthday whilst we were staying and my partner had booked to have a candlelit dinner on the front but unfortunately it was raining. Due to the rain, the hotel put us in a private room, with lots of candles which was very romantic, and the food was excellent. They also gave me a huge chocolate cake which was a very nice touch! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a romantic break away. The rooms are beautiful and have everything you need and to be able to watch the sunset from your own private pool is amazing. The staff were fantastic and really do go above and beyond to make sure your stay is the best possible.
"the Harbor Restaurant"
We had tapas at this restaurant for our anniversary. The view was amazing over the lit infinity pool with the beach in the background. From there it went down hill in every aspect. We were staying at the Katathani Resort where the staff are amazing. This particular dinner at The Habour at the Shore was part of a package and we were treated as less than paying customers. The staff attitude was slightly intimidating which is extremely rare in Thailand. The food was not good. The tapas was different - 3 tiny portions each - the pork belly morsel had thick fat through it (obviously not twice cooked) the soft shell crab was inedible with no actual crab meat and the tacos were cold. Other guests at our resort gave similar reviews. Very disappointing.
"A Wonderful Experience"
I just can't speak more highly of our visit to The Shore. If you have worked hard for your holiday and you are rewarding yourself, you will not be disappointed. My wife and I enjoyed our first real holiday in years at The Shore and it exceed every expectation. It was money well spent! It's rare these to be able to say that, but from the VIP ride from the airport, to the room, to the staff, to the surrounds. Just magical!
"Best of the Best"
Superb service every minute of the day from the time we arrived to the time we left. ALL of the staff from reception, ground maintenance, villa staff, restaurant, buggy drivers, security at the main gate, EVERYBODY were excellent. The villa (beach facing with pool) was incredible. Start the day at sunrise in your own private infinity pool and finish watching the sun set or the waves running along the beach in the moonlight, again in your private pool. The finishing daily touches of flowers, fresh fruit, local products, floral decorations on the bed just made you feel extra special. Excellent idea that you could eat (set menu - still a good choice) drink and use any of the facilities at all of the five or so locations (we booked half-board) along the bay/beach front - the Shore buggies would take you and pick you up. Even if you decided to go a-la-carte, the set menu allowance gave extra choice for at least two courses, often three. Even though June was supposed to be in the wet season, the time we were there (first two weeks) saw very little rain - 80% of the days were hot and sunny. Must see trips for us were the Big Budha (07.00 to catch the sun rise), the Chaithararam Temple (buy and set off fire crackers in a special kiln - crazy!) and the Lard Yai Walking Street Sunday evening market (colourful, exotic smells and many buskers (most of them very good)). For all of these we took a taxi from the hotel - take you there, wait for an hour or two and bring you back. We also went to Fanta Sea (just the show) - enjoyable and relaxing. The only disappointment we had was the outlet centre - Bicester Village in the UK and those we often visit in Germany, France and Barcelona are much, much better. Did not do any boat trips, diving, jungle treks etc as similar to previous holidays (been there, done that). The main street running behind the hotels contains many grocery shops (e.g. 7 Eleven), restaurants, tailors, souvenirs and of course, Thai massage. We had foot/leg massage nearly every day plus the occasional Thai/Sport massage. A short taxi ride to the next bay gives even greater choice. If ever there is a hotel and location for a Groundhog Day experience, this is it. Thank you to EVERYBODY at The Shore for a truly memorable experience - we will be back!
