"If you want a pool don't book here"
Just back from a great week in New Orleans but the principle reason we booked this hotel was so we could chill around the pool in the afternoon in the heat. We arrived the find the pool was closed and never really had it explained why the pool was closed. In addition neither the company we booked through or the hotel advised us in advance so a real disappointment upon arrival. That said, after asking the receptionist she managed to pull some strings and phone the Meridien which is a 5 minute walk to allow us to use their pool. So it resolved our issue but the Meridien has a smallish pool with only around 20 sun beds so getting a bed is difficult over a weekend. Positives are the staff were very helpful, it's centrally located and it has a decent bar area. It's also close to Bourbon Street. Downside apart from the pool is the rooms/common areas could do with a freshen up. I'd rate it a 3.5 to 4 but overall we had a decent stay and a great time in NOLA
"Unorganized with good location..."
First and foremost, when someone books your venue for a wedding as well as blocks rooms for a weekend and prepays for EVERYTHING in advance, you expect a smooth and relatively stress free check-in process.. you also expect rooms to be ready, and in somewhat relative location to one another.. also, you do not DOUBLE charge the blocked rooms that were pre-paid... that was just the start to the weekend.. thankful it was not MY wedding but as a bridesmaid, it was a burden that was shared with the bride.. the rooms were only average.. expected more for some reason.. they were clean tho! OH THE VALET... we sat in line for 15 minutes, at the kiosk without being attended.. we are not one to just hop out and throw our keys, to strangers, in New Orleans - or anywhere.. not a glace from any of the 3 attendants.. we self parked as we were on a timetable.. i was glad we did... we were not the only ones with valet issues.. the wi-fi did say "guest" but it had 3 options: guest, credit card, voucher.... made me nervous to use.. with the issues at check-in, prep for wedding, rehearsal, i was gun-shy to use it for fear it would be a charge... i would not stay here again..
"Great place to stay..."
They allowed us to check-in early at 11 am. Room was clean...good view..and great price for Memorial Weekend. It's definitely a great location plenty of shopping, restaurants within walking distance and bars!
"Old over price "
My experience here wasn't what I expected from a Starwood Hotel I won't visit another one for sure..the rooms need upgrade every looks old there's nicer rooms for less money .. I had key issues I was transferred to security and security had no customer service training they were very aggressive maybe they thought I was staying for free so I was a client ..bring your own was rags hotels does not have any also no garbage bags for garbage bins ..sucks pictures below shows rust old pics and stripping walls
"Location location location "
Best location in NOLA. On the edge of the French Quarter, 4 blocks to Burbon Street, adjacent to the Mississippi River. Close enough to everything, but far enough away that a short walk gets you a quick, comfortable, QUIET, hotel. Standard Westin, but a little on the old side. Reno's needed in a few years, but still clean and comfortable.
