I stayed here in January 2018 for 3 nights. Everything about this hotel is top notch. The staff is ultra-friendly and knowledgable and go out of their way to ensure that your experience is 5-star. The location of hotel is perfect. It's not directly in the "hustle, and bustle" of the squares (so noise is not an issue), yet it's minutes from everything (see below). The room was fabulous. The attention to detail is incredible. I travel quite a bit and this hotel rates at the top of my list for comfort, amenities, and overall wonderful experience. Breakfast buffet is huge and has just about every type of food you could imagine. If I come to Madrid again, this will be the place I will stay. A few points of interest that I researched prior to my trip: 1) Taxi's are right outside of the hotel and available 24 hours a day. Overall, taxis are quite inexpensive. - Time to Atocha station was ~5 minutes via taxi (~10 euro) - Time to MAD airport was ~15 minutes via taxi (30 euro flat fee) 2) Walking time to attractions (very easy): - Puerta del Sol - 8 minutes - Gran Via (shopping) - 8-10 minutes - Plaza Mayor - 12 minutes One additional comment (not related to the hotel) - allow extra time at the MAD airport as it is busy and HUGE - I would plan to leave the hotel around 2.5 to 3 hours prior to your departure. If you come to Madrid, stay at The Westin Palace; you won't be disappointed.
"We Loved the Hotel"
A great hotel to stay. Perfect service, a great staff, a great restaurant. The rooms were large, quiet and so nice. The location is also great. The hotel staff was very nice -- we asked for adjoining rooms that they found.
Positives-Old world charm, clean, comfortable and quiet rooms, cozy bar, good location and attentive and helpful staff Negatives-food was just fair and the check in, check out and concierge always had long lines. Not enough staff for the amount of people. Strangely there wasn't a chair to sit on in the lobby. The negatives are obviously small. I would definitely return.
"Family vacation on New Year's Eve"
The location and the interior of the hotel are very nice but the management and the staff which are responsible for the payment processing & credit card administration should be replaced because of a "strange & unique approach". This behaviour does not fit to a 5 stars hotel. Personally I would not recommend to stay in the hotel till this approach will not have been changed. I will complain to the group headquarters in Switzerland.
"Well located...a few issues"
We booked two rooms with king beds for 6 nights. The rooms are very nice as is the bathroom...with a few glitches. One of the sinks (there are two which is a plus) leaked water from the hot water handle no matter what water was running. Reported and got that fixed the next day. The bed was comfortable BUT whenever you sat on one of the sides it squeaked loudly. Reported that but never got it fixed. Just annoying when you have a partner sleeping and you sit on it. The armoire had enough drawers and hangers to accommodate all of our things BUT the doors swung shut on you very quickly. I got banged in the leg, butt and head several times and it was very frustrating. I reported it twice, but it was never resolved. I will say that after I reported these problems after the first night, they offered to upgrade me to another room but we were already completed unpacked into the bathroom and armoire and were headed out for the next 12 hours. Our room was also next to the other room we had booked and as large as the footprint is of the hotel when moved we could have been 10 minutes away. It was more convenient to stay...just wished they could have addressed all the issues.
