"A lovely few days visit spoiled by unhelpful checkout staff"
We stayed here for a few days recently while visiting Ibiza. On the whole it was a very good experience but it was let down at the end by the unhelpful staff at checkout. The hotel itself is stunning and well located on the beach. The reception and the common areas in the tower and the main reception has the most amazing scent piped in. The hotel is very glamorous and chic. We stayed in the Superior Double which overlooks the stage area and by sheer good luck there was a closing party on the first evening we stayed. The room itself was very spacious with comfy bed, good quality linen and view over the pool and the beach. A walk in waterfall shower with plenty of space and large towels easily accommodated my him indoors who is a bit of a giant. The bed was maybe a bit short for him, but I was comfortable enough. The lights in the bathroom are motion sensitive which came as a bit of a surprise the first time I wandered in there during the night. We didn't take breakfast during our stay (50 Euro pp) but I understand that the choice and range was amazing. It also runs for 3.5 hours. We visited the steak restaurant, Italian restaurant and sky bar during our stay. The staff were all unfailingly polite and helpful. When you arrive you are required to charge a minimum amount against your credit card which is then attached to your bracelet. This works as your room key, access back into the hotel from the beach, and as a way to charge your drinks. One thing about this, where and when you can bip the bracelet to charge against the credit limit you set up when you arrive is a bit hit and miss and seems to change hourly. One night a friend in our party bipped for drinks at the sky bar; the next night I wanted to bip for my drinks in the same place but was told that I couldn't. Also we were not able to bip for our meal, but we had been told when we checked in that we could. All a bit odd. Generally the stay was great and the levels of service provided were high. Apart from checking out. When we came to check out, we did so and asked about the free airport shuttle that they advertise as part of the service. We were told that none were available (3 were parked outside) and that you have to book it the day before. We were not made aware of this. Fair enough. I asked the Customer Experience Advisor to order me a taxi in that case. She said she would, but instead walked back and started chatting to her colleagues. I waited for about ten minutes to see if any taxi arrived - obviously none did. There were no taxis at the rank across the road. I went back to reception and asked the chap who had checked us out to call me a taxi to the airport. He pointed out the taxi rank across the road and said to get one there. There were no taxis and it was 80 degrees (27) outside so I told him that I wanted to call me a taxi to the airport. He then told me that it was against the law for them to call a taxi for me and that if I walked along to the Ushuaia Tower (100 yards away) that they might be able to call one for me there. What a lot of nonsense! I have never in my life been told by a hotel that they can't call me a taxi to the airport. I went outside and after a while, I was able to flag one for myself. So, despite being terribly proud about their customer experience it seems the attitude changes when they have your cash. Couldn't care less. Very disappointing. One other thing. The hotel is directly under the flight path to the airport. The planes take off and land right over the venue. I found it added to the experience. You might not. On the face of it the hotel is spectacular and the whole thing is slickly carried off. Will I go back' Not a chance. Will I recommend it' Nope.
Have been to Ibiza many times, this was my first stay at Ushuaia and am pretty sure it wont be my last. I am already looking to book for next year. Can't fault the hotel or the staff or the party :)....and the breakfast was amazing!!!
I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Ms. Kimia Rahman for her immense help which went beyond her professional requirements. She is indeed such a valuable asset to the hotel industry by the way she treats clients with full dedication and devotion in pleasing them the most she can. I wish all hotels would be lucky to have a General Manager like her.
My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful week at Ushuaia Beach Hotel. The staff are what makes this hotel, there are too many amazing people to thank - Patricia (hostess) who helped us when we were checking out on Monday afternoon with luggage, hairdryers etc. Fatima at breakfast was so lovely and welcoming each morning (and always remembered the table we liked), Manuel who made the delicious pitas was so friendly and cheerful. Emilia - customer service (hope I spelt this right) always checked we were enjoying our stay each time we saw her at breakfast and was very helpful. The housekeeping team also did a fantastic job, the room was spotless and they were very prompt with any requests we had. We can't wait to book our return visit next season. Thank you to everyone at Ushuaia for making our holiday so great!
"Best parties of my life"
If there is one place you must stay at Ibiza. I would suggest ushuaia is your best bet .So basically there are two options as per the location and construction one being the club which is old as in older as compared to their new building but it is the area where the open theatre is so this where the gigs happen so you are basically staying where all the action takes place and the other is The tower which is fairly new , you can actually feel it. With a hot red décor , pool , Jacuzzi and ants on the ceiling it gives you a feeling what you are about to experience later during your stay . But yes its like a 2-3 minute walk to the club area . We stayed at the Tower area in the “Anything can happen suite” with stage view. The suite is perfectly decorated with a Jacuzzi on its balcony .No matter where you decide to stay a stage view room is a must , as it simply kick starts your day , on one hand you have beautiful view of the sea while on the other the stage .You can start the pre party right in your room .With this suite we got a “King “ and “queen” band and were actually treated like one. For all the hotel guests the entry in the club area is free and at their newest club “Hiibiza “ , entry till 1:00 am is free. Just before you get your bookings done, do check their event calendar and plan accordingly. During our two-night stay we actually never left the hotel ,as on one night DJ Snake and armin van bueren were playing while on the next day there was party of Martin Garrix. So the Party scene was divided in two areas one was the open theatre area where the djs started playing from 6 pm to 12.The plus point for hotel guests was that you could actually carry your drink from the room here and no restriction on number of times you can enter. So at the end of one gig you could actually go to your room , top up and of course listen to the music from your balcony and join in when your music starts playing. After 12 right across the road Is “hi Ibiza “- ushuaia’s newest club which just opened in this july which is for the after party. It also had three different areas with different djs playing till like 6or 7 in the morning (We actually never made it that far) Now coming to the breakfast, the spread was as good as you can expect it to be. From candy corner, to ice creams, fresh wraps, burgers you name it. All In all of course this luxury came for a good price, but trust me it was definitely worth it .
