"Outstanding location with Caldeira view"
I write this review in English due to the fact that probably more visitors are English speaking. This was the dream holiday of my life... and I was suggested this place as THE place to be by my agent. We were both happy with the location and the view that is absolutely outstanding, However to our opinion the price of the room and all the adjacent expenses in the location (Oia) are way too expensive. The room was fine, however very little space for the clothes and all open... Suprising for a 5 star Property. The bathroom is lovely, but the shower is not in best conditions. When you are in your lovely private Jacuzzi you suddenly see the next door neighbors coming back to their room..... Special.... All together, this is a lovely location, but we were a little disappointed regarding privacy towards the price requested.
"The best in Oia!"
Villa Kalikies was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Greece. I was a bit nervous about booking here given there are so few reviews but I knew it was the sister hotel to Katikies Hotel so I figured how could we go wrong. It turned out to be the perfect choice and even though we loved it when we first got there it grew on us more and more as the days went by. We stayed in the villa double room and at the time of my booking the website did not mention there is an outdoor jetted tub - I thought this was only in the suites (the website has since been updated). So this was an unexpected surprise! However, please note that the jetted tub takes up your entire balcony - there is no other sitting area. At first I was disappointed by this as I would rather have the sitting area - I’ve had hot tubs before and never really enjoyed them, however, I’ve never had a hot tub with a view like that! We loved it and used a lot - it was the perfect temperature and very clean. Also, there is a large terrace for the entire hotel only steps from the room - since the hotel is so small there were rarely guests there so it was really like having your own space. The room itself was beautiful - I love the all white decor and the fresh orchids. And the bed - oh the bed! It was heavenly - the most comfortable we had during our 2.5 week stay in Greece. I dream about that bed! Also the ceilings were really high which I was a bit worried about given it’s a cave room and I’ve read lots about the low ceilings - my husband is fairly tall so this was very nice. We have only one small complaint about the room and that is the tile floor in the bathroom - it is extremely slippery and dangerous especially since it has stairs in it - I think that would be a fairly easy inexpensive thing to fix. We adored the pool area - I had planned on using the pools at the Katikies hotel but we loved the pool so much we just stayed here - it’s so much quieter than the hotel and the views were incredible. It is pretty good size for Santorini and while there are only 6 sunbeds, we always had the pool to ourselves - I think this is because it’s such a small hotel and every room has a hot tub. There is also a bar by the pool and a bathroom so you don’t have to run back up the stairs to your room - this was a welcome surprise! We ate breakfast at the Katikies hotel each morning - I regret not having breakfast at the Villas but I guess we were just in a buffet kind of mood. It is excellent! Now would be a good time to compare the Villas Katikies to the Hotel Katikies. We much preferred the Villas Katikies - I would choose the villas over the hotel hands down every time. The villas are so much quieter and private and far less stairs (the stairs at the villas really weren’t that bad at all)! If you like a scene than the hotel is a better fit for you. I also think there is more value for money here given the privacy and the outdoor hot tub for every room. I have to give a special mention to Eirini, the hotel manager. She was seriously one of the best hosts we’ve ever had at any hotel. She was just very genuine which I feel is a rare thing to find in a hotel - she really stood out to us so thank you! All of the other staff were wonderful as well - especially the staff member who carries the luggage - he also seems to do quite a few other odd jobs around the hotel and is a very hard working man - I can’t imagine lugging luggage up those stairs in that heat! A word about Oia in general - we were taken aback by the number of tourists in the town. The cruise ships send busloads of tourists every day - we were told 70 to 90 buses on busy days! We weren’t even there during the busiest season so I can’t imagine July or August! It could be incredibly frustrating with the crowds so the hotel became a true oasis for us. We would run out quickly for lunch or dinner and then try to make it back to the hotel as quickly as possible - the contrast between the town and the hotel is incredible - the hotel was so quiet, private and serene! Which is something important to note because a lot of hotels in Santorini don’t provide a lot of privacy from other guests and others outside the hotel (you can often look down directly into hotels from the walkways). Villa Katikies really stands out in this regard. One more note: I found a very good deal on this hotel - I really don’t think I’d pay the regular asking price but at a discount it was very good value relatively speaking since the hotels on the island with a caldera view are ridiculously expensive. On the other hand if you’re only staying a few nights why not splurge! So finally, don’t hesitate to stay here - I think it truly is the best hotel in Oia!
"In love with this hotel!"
This hotel was a HUGE highlight of our Honeymoon! The views are stunningly beautiful, the rooms are clean and spacious and the location is great. We stayed here for 4 nights and didn't want to leave. Eirini, the hotel manager as well as the rest of the staff were extremely friendly, courteous and went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. Eirini helped make all of our dinner reservations and ensured we got the best seat in the house! We were even upgraded to a suite for our last night. This place is a must stay if you get the please of visiting Santorini.
"Our hotel was the highlight of our honeymoon!"
Our hotel was the highlight of our honeymoon. You know you are staying at a great hotel when you wake up every day and don’t want to leave! We spent six nights here and wish we could have stayed more. Our room was spacious, very clean and had a minimalistic vibe. The hotel is small and only has seven rooms, which is something we wanted for our honeymoon. A few of the small details that we enjoyed- the bottle of wine the hotel gave us when we arrived, the early morning breakfast they brought us the morning of our flight, the amazing welcome drinks they give you at reception, the awesome playlists on the ipod they provide you in your rooms and the cell phone they give you for your stay to call them anytime you need anything! The best part about this hotel was not the décor or the vibe, but the staff! They were extremely friendly and always willing to help. They helped us book our ATV rentals, make dinner reservations, order taxis and gave us advice whenever we needed it. Eirini, the General Manager, was incredible and makes you feel as if you are the only guests at the hotel. The hotel has a small pool that is extremely private and quiet, but as a guest you are also able to use the facilities at the larger Katikies Hotel which is a few yards away. There they have three pools and a few restaurants that we visited during our stay as well. Needless to say, our hotel set the tone for our entire honeymoon and we cannot wait to go back and visit again one day.
"“Villa Katikies made our honeymoon trip unforgettable.”"
“Villa Katikies made our honeymoon trip unforgettable.” Service was great. Room was comfortable and in the middle of all the attractions. Eirini and the staff at the front desk were amazing, making sure our stay was perfect and there for us 24 hrs a day if we needed help. The room was clean and comfortable and had one of the most beautiful views we have ever seen. So glad we chose Villa Katikies.
