Maria and her staff are truly lovely, amazing people. They are friendly and hospitable. The breakfasts are rich with cakes, meats and cheeses. Beds were comfortable, would recommend not more than 2 people to a room as it was crowded with the 4 of us. The view of the Mediterranean is stunning and it's a short (but steep) walk into the heart of Sorrento. The lemon trees make the yard smell incredible.
"Boutique hotel "
Lovely small hotel with exceptional personal service. On arrival you get greeted by the owner with freshly made lemonade and lemon cake despite it being 11pm! Beautiful rooms with views over Sorrento bay. Breakfast was amazing with homemade quiches and cakes- it was an art form! The rooftop terrace had stunning views, comfy loungers and a hot tub. Whilst there is no pool you can use the pool at the hotel next door. Only downside is the location is up a steep hill and about 1.5 miles from the centre .... not ordinarily a problem but a taxi each way costs E20-27! So either bring comfortable shoes or budget in the taxi costs. The hotel staff couldn't have done more to help us by booking trips, making dinner reservations, booking taxis etc. If you are looking for something different with a personal touch then this hotel would be highly recommended.
We picked Villa Oriana for the views that were posted and certainly it was more than we expected. The wrap-around balcony was such a spectacular place to have breakfast or drinks (there is a roof top lounge/spa that were also wonderful). Maria, owner, and her staff were just so helpful and friendly that the visit was like a family get-together. Breakfast was another treat as Maria bakes several items fresh each morning and they were wonderfully delicious. Being up the hill from town for such beautiful views also meant walking back uphill along a walking path, which seemed daunting at first but turned to be a moderate walk for us, or you can take a taxi. We can't do justice with our words to this wonderful and welcoming Villa, a highlight of our first visit to Italy. We are already looking forward to returning for a longer stay.
"Wonderful stay with a welcoming staff"
We were greeted with fresh lemonade (from their lemon trees) and homemade cake - the staff was welcoming and hospitable and made our stay so enjoyable. It was about a 25 minute walk to the main part of town.
Wow! My mom and I have just returned from our stay and there are not enough positive words we can use to describe our experience here in this paradise! Even now as I write this, my mouth is watering for some of Maria's (the amazing owner) cake and fresh lemonade. I work in the hospitality business and let me tell you, they are naturally the most hospitable people you will find. They go above and beyond to make your stay magical and relaxing. Top notch service from start to finish. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing breakfast. It was like staying in a private home. To start, when we arrived (hot and exhausted from a day that started at the Vatican, Pompeii in the middle, and ended in Sorrento) and drove up that gorgeous driveway to see all of the lemon trees and flowers and then when we smelled the jasmine and other blossoms we really thought we must've been at the wrong hotel! It was so beautiful and beyond our expectations. We were then greeted by the lovely Lisa who really took care of us during our whole time there. We took a seat on the deck overlooking the most beautiful ocean view and Lisa told us to relax and brought us fresh lemonade from the lemons from their garden and a fresh baked piece of Maria's apricot cake. One would think after you check in, that would be it and that they were just trying to make a good impression the first day, but NO!! They were welcoming every single time we came home and on a particularly long and hot day, insisted that we sit down to lemonade and cake before going to our room to nap. The breakfast baked every morning by the owner was hands down the best food we had all trip and we were in BOTH Paris and Italy on this trip. Maria is a master baker and bakes 3-4 different cakes every morning and then has a quiche, eggs, the freshest mozzarella, amazing tomatoes and many other items in this incredible spread! The setting is amazing, the staff is warm, helpful and friendly and it is very spacious and clean with gorgeous views. Only suggestion would be for you to rent a car while there as it is a bit removed and makes it a little difficult to get around sorrento while you are there. Again, can't say enough good things. This is hospitality at its finest. My mom and I will have fond memories of our time there forever and we will definitely return.
