"Busy but very nice hostel, with good service."
We had a nice star at this hostel during the carnival. Or course it was very busy at that time. But the service was good. The real plus is the beach right acrros the street. The breakfast is wonderful, but once again you havé to wake up early to avoid the crowd.
"Great hotel, close to the beach "
Lovely lobby, very well decorated. Close to the beach (just across the road). Check in took a long time, but staff was friendly and efficient. Great rooms for conventions. I recommend and will stay here again in the future.
"High hopes higher disappointments"
It’s tarted well, nice lobby, well decorated! Firendly staff at front desk, very polite and willing to help. We expect no more from a four star rated hotel! Well located, just front Barra da Tijuca beach. Room was nice and clean. Pool is on rooftop with amazing view. So far there is no reason to give only 2/5 rating. It was always nice until last night. I decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Arrived at 8:30 PM. I had ordered a Tounedor, medium to medium rare. 40 minutes later, there were no sign of my dinner. I asked the waiter about the dish, and the answer was ... “ oh, I just remembered the kitchen regard it”. Based on the non effective answer, and no actions taken, I called off my entree and complain about the supposed well trained staff . The only suggestion made by the restaurant staff was ... “ I can send your entree to your room.” let’s be reasonable here, If I want a room service I probably would request it earlier. It pissed me off a lot. I went to a front desk, asked the staff there to call the manager. The young clerk told me to tell him why was going on. I described what happened and the only answer was , what is your room number please. Really''' Customers service under the bottom line of customers experience. I can tell you, Windsor chain... you just lost a customer and I will spread the word about you services and not caring about your guests.
"Very nice hotel, the scheck in desk is a bit slow"
I have stayed in this hotel a few times before ( no, they dont recognize you, even if you stayed there only yesterday). The best parts of the hotel are: the nice pool, the very easy beach access and the best coffee that comes with breakfast in the "western hemisphere". The staff was a lot more focused last year, most probably because it was the Olympic year. This year all was a little bit "not so good" anymore. But still, it was very nice. Admittedly, most of the staff from the bellman to the receptionists are on the more " arrogant" side and tend to look down on you...
"Humiliating Situation "
I arrived in this hotel property yesterday on September 24th around 4pm, it took them 4 ever to find my reservation, I had booked the reservation yesterday in the morning, after a decent amount of time my reservation was found. I am in Rio de Janeiro from California often in order to visit friends and family here, about 8pm yesterday a friend of mine came to the hotel to have dinner with me, the hotel has a nice bar area facing the pool, where we planned to eat, my friend was in a pair of bermuda, T shirt and flip flops, he was stopped once he entered the lobby, and treated really bad by security and the receptionists !!! The staff treated him in a very condescending way, and they informed me and him that visitors were NOT allowed by any means in the hotel property not even to join me at the bar / restaurant by the pool !!! It was a very humiliating situation for me !! I had never faced anything like that !! I truly understand that the hotel cares about everybodies safety and I totally agree with them about trying their best to keep track of everyone entering the hotel premises, in hotels like the Marriot, Sheraton here in Rio de Janeiro for example, all my friends and members of my family have always been extremely welcome by everybody, hotel staffs there are happy we choose their properties to receive our friends and family to join me at their restaurants and bars !! They even offer me discount cards, many of theses hotels host weddings, birthdays, graduation parties, local people in Rio purchase their services and are welcome, the hotel take a photocopy of a picture indentification card, they provide a paperwork to be filled out containing personal information of the people we want to join us in one of their many public environments like: disco bars, restaurants, bars etc and the hotel welcomes our friends and family and truly becomes our home away from home. I had booked 4 days and 3 nights here at the Windsor Marapendi, the hotel facilities are very good, but due to the condescending way we were treated yesterday night, I'm checking out in 4 hours and I'm on my way to the Sheraton hotel in Leblon !! One more thing, this property is extremely far away from the south part of Rio de Janeiro, kind of isolated area, it is far from the places people want to be in Rio, but that's NOT the reason why I'm checking out, I was willing to give them a try but due to the lack of professionalism, politeness, respectfulness shown, I'm checking out in less than 4 hours !! I'm used to 5 stars hotels, I know exactly what to expect, personally I don't recommend this hotel, despite the nice facilities, they have a lot to learn about customer service !!!
