"A clean and comfortable hotel"
We stayed at the York Marriott for two nights on business. The room was clean with just a little touching up of the decoration required. Very comfortable mattress, efficient air con, good breakfast, short bus trip into York. All in all a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and efficient without exception. My only niggle was that wii had to be paid for.
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on the 18 06 2017 we had a ground floor garden room we had read the reviews about the air con not working so as it was so hot the day we travelled we didnt expect it to be a good experience but it was excellent air con was working staff were freindly the room was huge and so was the bed and tv the food we thought was a little expensive but for what we paid for the room it was good value for money
Can't fault our stay really. We stayed for 2 nights and paid £208 in total. The rooms are slightly dated but clean and comfortable. Included in the price we had use of the pool and sauna etc. The gardens at the back are beautiful and especially if the sun comes out ( it did for a few hours on our first night :)) York centre is a short bus ride from right outside the hotel and only costs £1.60 each way so saves messing about trying to find parking and also means you can enjoy a pint or glass of wine on the water front in the city. Stunning city and would come back again! People extremely friendly too.
"Viewing york for first time"
Booked a grandstand balcony room with a view of the racecourse and yes you can in the sense that I can see the isle of man on a clear day from blackpool. Do not think you are getting a directors box in the thick of it because you are not. Hotel is dated and online photos of the room seem to have been taken by an estate agent photographer to make it look bigger. £300 for this room for 1 night and received a room with no working telly ... a shower that would have overflowed had i stayed in it any longer due to poor drainage and no dressing gowns or branded slippers as advertised to create the luxury experience because according to the cleaner they were short on the delivery. Now contrary to the above comments I thoroughly enjoyed our york experience with the location the weather and also the staff but the grinding thing is this ...i didn't pay for it...my partner did at a cost of two weeks wages as a treat to take my mind of other stuff and she was a bit disappointed with value for money. Breakfast was good drinks are expensive. Tricky one this...i enjoyed it but hardly worth this money. 4 star maybe when new but maybe needs a revaluation in its current form.
"York races weekend with girlfriends"
This was the second time we stayed at the hotel for the races. Weather was amazing. Had a lovely walk across the racecourse to get to the hotel which was very convenient. Hotel was clean, staff were friendly, breakfast was excellent. The pool area was lovely at 7am when we had it to ourselves. The beds were very comfortable and the air con last weekend was very welcome. Rooms were spacious and we didn't hear any noise from other guests. Plenty of room in the car park. We are making this a bi-annual girls trip so will be back in 2019. Would recommend it.
