A comida é péssima!
"Shouldn't be open to paying guests yet."
Take this place at face value and it looks very nice. Desert environment, well appointed villas, smiling staff. However as soon as you start to look a little deeper the cracks are obvious for all to see. Only one restaurant was open during our stay. This meant that breakfast, lunch and dinner would have to be taken from the same menu in the same place. For two nights this was just about tolerable but had we been there for 3 nights we'd have had no choice but to get in the car and drive into RAK for a change of menu. When we checked in the staff member said the extra beds would be made up for the children during the turn down service. We arrived back from dinner and this hadn't been done, so we had to call for housekeeping, wait for them to arrive, wait for them to make the beds. The communal pool has been drained and is just a hole in the ground left on one side of the resort. When this property was a Banyan Tree the pool had a great little swim up bar in the communal pool and made a great place for kids to meet other kids at the resort. Its absence was definitely noticed. The Kids' Club is a big feature on the website for the hotel, but in reality it felt like something of a TV and colouring camp for kids to be dumped in whilst parents head off to the spa. We went to look at it on the afternoon of our arrival and our kids (7 and 4) who generally LOVE kids clubs actually begged us not to leave them there as they didn't want to do colouring all day. Naturally we didn't subject them to it. On our last night the villa next to ours had the fire alarm going off when we got back from dinner. I called maintenance who came out and assured us it would be taken care of. It took them 4 hours to silence the alarm, whilst continuously assuring us there was 'no need' for us to move rooms as it would be silenced 'in ten minutes'. I understand things like this happen but at a resort like this as soon as it was established whatever problem this was wasn't a simple fix, we should have been moved. That's just standard service. I must say the staff are all trying very hard, but the resort being in the state it is in means they are fighting a losing battle. Ultimately this place should not be open to the paying public as it stands (or it should be hugely discounted if it is). I see some people are giving glowing reviews, but I'm really not sure how. This is not even close to the Ritz Carlton standards yet. I even emailed Ritz Carlton directly about my concerns with this property (not the resort, but Ritz head office) and their unwillingness to get involved in a discussion looks to me like Ritz aren't keen on having their name associated with this property yet.
We were here for 2 nights and the rooms were large and extremely comfortable, our own pool was an added luxury. All of the amenities were first class however, the Rainforest Spa was unbelievable, so much so we went twice. It is definitely worth the effort to get there.
"Wow...just wow! In love with this place!"
We stayed here for 4 nights in November as a honeymoon after our wedding in London. We had also stayed at the resort for 4 nights in October 2016 when we got engaged so the resort is a special place for us. I emailed ahead to stay we would be coming back for our honeymoon and from the moment we checked in until we checked out the whole experience was brilliant. The service has improved so much, the staff who were always so lovely are now even more welcoming and more knowledgeable about the resort. The new pool Villas are beautiful, the new decking is lovely, the new interior is really beautiful and the outdoor furniture is so comfortable. The service on check in was brilliant, we were shown to our room covered in rose petals, heart shaped balloons and there was a lovely note, poem and chocolate cake to welcome to us to our honeymoon. Every day the maids made so much effort to make the villa romantic with towel spans and roses everywhere. We loved biking around the resort, the new Falconry center was fab and we loved the stables and the camels and horses. The absolute best part for us was The Farmhouse, the food was way and above anything we have eaten in a hotel recently. Every dish (and we tried most of them) was fabulous, the staff were fantastic, the venue is gorgeous, the outdoor terrace is perfect for winter and the smoke house is a genius idea. The chef is obviously fantastic at what he does, and his whole restaurant team reflect this. The food was so good we ate there every single night, and enjoyed every meal as much as the last! We can not wait to return, to the gorgeous villas to the fantastic updated hotel and the amazing service, we loved every second!!! Thank you so much to everyone who looked after us :)
