"One week excellent vacation with my family"
Rooms: Very nice, big & renovated rooms. We had family room, and it was very comfortable. Rooms/toilets were very clean, floors were cleaned each day, towels changed each day. Surrounding: Very nice place in front of the rooms, nice sidewalks, views. Swimming pool was clean, sun beds also, same on the beach. Just be aware, that outside the hotel complex, there is nothing much to see, you need a taxi to closest city. Food: Very tasty food, kids loved it. Lot of pizza, pasta, + lot of other good food. For everyone something :-) Vine red/white during lunch/dinner, and soft drinks also. Service: Service was very good, some says that they don't speak English well, or animation only in Italian, but this hotel is in Italia, so it should be Italian :-) And yes, I would recommend this place to all my friends :-) an if I will have opportunity, I would come again.
"We expected more .. "
We were at Valtour Simeri from 23.-30.7 . We decided for the location as my husbands family has long positive history with Valtour villages across Italy and Africa in period 1995-2005. We have booked our vacation months ago on Valtour website. When we arrived we were surprised what we expected to be All inclusive turned to be only Full pension. We asked to pay the upgrade to All inclusive but we were told at the check in it was not possible to upgrade to all inclusive as the tariff is available only to foreign agencies and not to privates. The consequence is that we had to buy the bottles of water at the local shop as they were not available at the room bar, nor at the restaurant but only at bar paid 2€ for half litre bottle, also the shampoo and shower gel were provided the first day as courtesy and never refilled, also the beach towels were on payment 16€ per week per person. The premises were recent, clean, garden green, with one little swimming pool constantly overpopulated, the baby club is accessible only for kids after 2nd birthday, if you have younger kid you cannot even use the baby club premises, there is no "free" kids area where children can play. The personnel speaks only Italian. Any animation/ interaction is in Italian = for foreigners there is none. The cuisine in first days was low level, meat and veggies of poor quality, we ate mainly first dishes and sweets which were excellent. From the 3rd day on the cuisine improved significantly, the quality and variety was astounding, we asked what changed and we were told the Chef was replaced. I am sorry for the fired Chef but happy we enjoyed such excellent food. The beach is nice but not maintained, you see neighbours beaches being cleaned every morning by tractors leaving beautiful fine sand, not at Valtour. What we didn't like is the fact the first 2 rows of umbrellas are reserved to someone who paid extra, means you never really enjoy the sea view. If I compare it with recent experience in another resort, Valtour offered us less comfort and services. We will not return, I would not recommend it to a friend.
"Nice but not of a high standard"
Our group of 6 adults & a 1 year old stayed for a week at Valtur Simeri. Overall it was a nice experience however it wasn't the high standard I was expecting. We checked in at 1am after a long day of travelling. On check in we were informed there was a cold dinner waiting for us however when we asked if we could purchase or get some water from somewhere as they advise not to drink the tap water, we were informed there was nowhere to purchase water at this time and there was 1 small carafe for our party of 6 available. It took half an hour of highlighting the basic need for water until we were shown where we could fill our water bottles! Simply providing 1 bottle of water per guest in the rooms fridges would be a small gesture or directing us to the filtered water straight away would have been an easy fix! We also had to fight to get hot water in order to feed the baby as there is also no kettle available anywhere in the resort (apparently!) The rooms were of a good size, nicely renovated, comfortable beds & a small terrace (no wifi available in the rooms.) The cleaning was hit and miss but rectified once noted. The resort overall is nice, good to relax and the staff were friendly. We found the bar staff to be quite clueless, I think most guests are Italian so the language barrier was a problem. The restaurant food had its days, sometimes a lot of food & nice variety, other days it seemed leftovers were served & there weren't any staff around to replenish anything. The glasses were always filthy & I almost chipped a tooth on a rock I found in the rocket salad! I think there's a bit to work ok in this area to bring the standard up. Overall we had a nice stay & enjoyed our time here. It's a good place to stay just don't have high expectations.
We were in this village for a week. We decide to pass our holiday in this village valtour simeri even if the brand valtour has been sold to an foreigner society. We had some experience in the pass and a lot of things has been changed. Few in good and couple in a bad. I will write my first person exp so I advise all people to do not take it as an expert judgment. Arrival 6/10 After reached the village ( car) the welcoming was not so surprising and explosive. Try to think people drive by an average of 3-6 hour to reach the village under 40 degree sun... I thought that they will be more welcoming and they could understand the long drive time and maybe have an different approach of refreshing ( just small inside). Good 15 min wait to check in .Few welcome by the staff . We manage to get our room on early time so that was cool. Rooms 7/10 I can say for sure that the room are quite comfortable with a small cooling fridge .. air conditioner inside... and good renovated . The only problem is that we had twice strike from cleaning personnel so the room was jut in surface cleaned. For the other days the room was good cleaned. Village+service (offered by) 5/10 The village got an average size.. not big not even small. I think they could it make it work better . Also be aware that you have just a pharmacy and a small market with almost all that you need. No ATM. Animation equipe 6.9/10 Things are changed you can t find anymore big equipe groups like the old time. I have enjoyed couple of shows and few staff persons... I think this equipe it is more focus on children. Sea& beach. 8/10 I think the sea is the highest attraction that they can offer. The beach is clean and a quite good enjoyable sea.. ( maybe the sun bed they should be replace) . Food 2/10 I can certainly say that I ve enjoy little thing I can say that the meat was good. For the rest you couldn't find a lot of variety as a food. Few days you could see the same ingredient like for example fish cook in one way in the lunch and in another day in the evening. Side dish mostly defrosted (badly) and tasteless. Was a big disappointment on the special night ( regional food) that you can find just few thing . Service was good but the were hurry up to clean once the dining or lunch time was finished. We couldn't find somethings important thing such as spoon or containers for water.. not enough for all the people. At the end was a good week I suggest this place for family.
"Nice hotel with small drawbacks"
The hotel could be very good with very little effort and our holiday could be fast perfect if it were not for many little frustrating things... The sandy beach is great and close to the hotel, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. Our three-beds-room was big enough for a family of three and quite new, the bathroom was also good. The food in the restaurant was mostly enjoyable, but very inconsistent - from really poor, uninspired and tasteless to absolutey fantastic, opulent with lots of seafood and vegetables. The cleaning was seriously bad, towels were changed daily but sometimes after a reminder. The staff speak mostly italian and seem to be a bit cautios towards foreigners, may be because of the language barrier. Most of them were not that friendly either, sometimes giving you the feeing you are disturbing them. The hotel is mostly booked by the italians, there are many famiies with kids there. The entertainment was ok, but all in italian. Foreign kids were feeling a bit left out. If you need nice beach, crystal clear sea, good food and relaxing atmosphere - the hotel is for you. If you need high standards and action - go somewhere else.
