"Disappointing visit with a room like a sauna"
Thankfully only a one night stay. The air conditioning unit in the room did not work making it an extremely hot room leading to a poor nights sleep. What made it worst was the noise from the room above which started around 6.30 am. The old floor boards were creaking and a constant banking around for over an hour. I advised the receptionist who was most considerate saying she would deal with the broken unit and advise the manager to contact me. That was 2 days ago and I have head nothing. At over £150 a night I would expect better.
"Lovely hotel, friendly and welcoming"
I stayed whilst on a training course in Nottingham. The reception staff were really lovely and welcoming. My room was fab, really spacious and elegant. The bathroom was beautiful and most importantly the bed was incredibly comfortable. It was a rare treat to get a really good night's sleep whilst away on business. The only thing preventing a 5 star review was the room service menu. The menu was ok, but wasn't inspiring. All in all, well worth a stay.
"Disappointing room and bed size but some positive points too!"
We spent two nights in a supposedly 'Delux King' room which cost us £285 excluding breakfast (which would have cost a further £13.00 per person!). We chose the hotel because of its central location in Nottingham and because it looked charming and had some good reviews. We were disappointed because the room was extremely small , the bed was too short for my husband who is 1m85 whose feet hung over the end, and also because, on the second morning, we were woken at 7am by the noise of a skip being placed under our window and by the subsequent filling up of it which lasted for about an hour! The other negative point was that we were charged a lot for the tiny packets of crisps and popcorn which were displayed in the room as though they were complementary and also for the small bottle of red wine (which we realised was not complimentary of course) which was charged at over £9.00!! On a positive note, the bathroom was very clean and well supplied with shampoo, soap and towels (although the basin is very low and has a strange tap arrangement!). Also, when we mentioned the fact that we had been woken up by the noise, we were given a complimentary breakfast. The cakes we ordered for tea were delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful.
"Peaceful and quality birthday stay"
I bought my girlfriend a night at the Lace market with a Friday Special offer where you spend a set amount at the restaurant and you get the room for £35 which is a bargain. To begin with not only did I get an upgraded room which was a nice surprise they also took note of it being her birthday and actually left out some chocolate with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate! It was a lovely touch. The restaurant was quaint and the bar staff / waiters really couldn't be attentive enough to our needs. The cocktails were tasty and the atmosphere was relaxed. Despite my girlfriend having a broken foot she did get around ok, but I probably wouldn't advise a wheelchair user to try navigating the hotel. Overall, I would certainly stay again, especially at the bar!
"Excellent Sunday roast, recommend. "
Great Sunday menu and a la carte offerings. We both ordered the beef roast dinners, best roast dinner we've had in ages! The waiter, Adam, was telling us about attention to detail in the kitchen, they make everything in house right down to the butter and chocolate. The waiter himself was very professional, we were so impressed. I learnt a few customer service tips and tricks from watching him that I hope to put to good use in my restaurant.
