"Not bad but not 5-star for sure"
We spent Christmas & NY at the hotel in a family suite for 9 nights. The terrace of the room was very nice and big. I'm sure it will be more appreciated in the summer. No complain about the size of the rooms and bathrooms, but can see signs needing renovation. The worst experience we had was when our neighbours came back at 4am one morning, and it was like their party was right in our room! So, the rooms are definitely not sound-proof. Fortunately, that was only one-off experience and it was not the room beside the one of our children. Daily house-keeping was minimal, just making the beds (no change of sheets during our stay) and changing the towels.Would have appreciated if vacuum cleaning was done occasionally. We were glad that we weren't on half-board as the food at the restaurant was expensive, few options and not good. Breakfast was relatively decent but it's the same buffet every morning. There is also a lack of tables especially during the last hour of breakfast service. I suppose this is not an issue during summer when the terrace is also an option. Nice pool but it's a shame it's not heated, so no swimming possible even though on certain days when it's about 18 degrees, it could be a nice option. Reception very friendly, taxis were always readily available outside the hotel, nice walk/run along the beach to Puerto Banus.
"Family Xmas get away"
Just back from this hotel , I can't really fault it , Nicolas on reception was always smiling even after showing us 5. Different rooms we eventually all upgraded there was 7 of us , we had 424 amazing room seaveiw two seating areas jacuzzi it was fabulous and my mum had the guadapin suite on the ground floor room106 that was fantastic too massive windows looking out to sea it was very special the decor is very dark Balinese , we had a a Xmas eve 3 course set evening meal which was delicious and only 40 euros each which was very good value we had a massage which was ok , breakfast was great and had lunch there as well can't fault the food , my only moan would be that the bar just off the reception is very drab needs a facelift pronto!!!!! I would stay here again I imagine in the summer it would be buzzing it's in a fantastic position and I noticed lots of other bars attached to the hotel which was closed because of the winter season , yes def be back Thank you guadapin your staff are lovely and the girls in the bar are lovely .
"Mrs k Harvey"
We arrived at this 5* hotel for Xmas with friends. Reception brill and most staff great, room small but ok we left some clothes in case due to lack of wardrobe space. Well run clean and friendly then the evening meal..... half board people got 3 choices of starters and mains so between us we tried most things! I can only describe the meal as a disgrace!!!! The size i would give my 3 year old grandaughter!!!! We complained to the restaurant and reception that we were unhappy and hungry!!!!The same next night so we ended up eating out for the rest of our break!!! Breakfast good but please don't book HB your treated as second class and not made welcome! The Manager was rude to us and insisted no other complaints, well he should have been at breakfast because many had plenty to say then and also decided to eat out. Not 5* star in my opinion we travel a great deal and know the area well
"Nice place apart from the food!!!"
We stayed at this hotel with another couple for a week over Christmas on a “Half Board” basis. Having read the reviews previously posted we were, to say the least, somewhat disappointed with the overall experience. The hotel itself is very pleasant, well situated overlooking the beach, with a number of amenities. Unfortunately whilst we were there most of them were closed, leaving only one small bar behind the reception area and one restaurant open. Breakfasts were buffet style with a good variety of foods to be had. . Even though it was the end of December we were still able to sit out on the terrace most mornings to eat it. The only downside was if you wanted a fried/poached or omelette egg doing. Most mornings it was a lady cooking who kept things moving at a decent pace. On a couple of mornings it was a man cooking. I don’t know if he was a “stand in” moved in from doing another job but he wasn’t as efficient as the lady, and long queues soon built up. Our biggest let down were the evening meals. As Half Board customers we were certainly treated as the “poor relations”. The Half Board menu was very restricted, usually with only four, often unusual, options. Even if you were lucky enough to find a meal you liked it was invariably served either under cooked or cold. The meals were so poor that, despite having paid to eat there as part of the holiday package, we abandoned eating at the hotel in the evening and went into Puerto Banus and ate there. Complaints about the restaurant to the Restaurant Manager, Hotel Reception and the Hotel Manager had no effect – just brushed off with “no one else has complained”. Either they were being economical with the truth or other guests must have been suffering in silence! We spoke to a number of others staying and didn’t find anyone who was happy with the food.
"Not a 5 star, but still very nice"
I stayed with my parents for a week over Christmas and we had a lovely time. The hotel is lovely, but I was very disappointed by the bathroom. There were a range of amenities and the size of the outdoor terrace and views made up for it. I woke up each morning able to see and hear the ocean. Breakfast was amazing, fantastic range of foods and drinks and served from 8-11am. The staff were very well turned out in black trousers, bow ties and black aprons. We were able to sit outside most mornings and lingered for as long as possible. The reception staff were lovely and couldn't do enough to help us, I also had a massage and the therapist was lovely. The spa was closed for refurbishment so my massage was carried out in a room beside reception, which was quite noisy and not ideal but I still enjoyed it a lot. There is a small garage at the top of the road for essentials and the walk to Puerto Banus is only 10 minutes along the sea front. I would definitely return to this hotel and hope to do so in the summer!
