Stayed recently for four nights in awesome Vancouver with my sister. We were graciously greeted in the middle of the night upon arrival after a red-eye from NY. It was my sister's birthday and a brownie and welcome note were waiting for us in our room, but we were too tired to enjoy it! We slept soundly in the very quiet lavender room in the very comfy bed. As others noted, the bathroom with a window wall is kind of odd. Yes, there are blinds and a curtain, but I couldn't help humming "Silhouettes on the Shade". We thought the room could use a bit more storage space. Drawers were few and one was used for food..part of the mini bar...and the closet already half occupied by two nice fluffy bathrobes and an ironing board. The bathroom was big and bright with a heated floor, but a few more hooks would have been nice. Climbing in and out of the tub/shower took a bit of planning. It is very deep. High tech gadgets like a big flat screen TV, smart phone and tablet are in the room for guests' use. We never figured out how to answer that phone, but we could answer the regular one! The staff was terrific and very helpful with directions, etc. Maid service was exceptional. As others have mentioned, the subway almost right across the street and water taxis a couple blocks down make it a great location. Yaletown was okay for walking around especially if you're into pubs and artisanal beer. Or...you can have any part of your body and face treated. Within easy reach is an eyelash place, tons of hair salons, eyebrow stylist, body waxing salon, acupuncturist and a number of yoga studios. Shopping we found was meh..not much we hadn't seen before. Go downtown or water taxi to Granville Island if you'd rather shop than have your brows done. The hotel has a young, urban vibe but the hospitality is traditional with a non traditional edge.
"Great hotel, Excellent location"
We arrived in Vancouver by plane and were able to take the sky train directly to the hotel. The Yaletown stop is right across the street from the hotel. The staff were very friendly and we were upgraded to an executive room which was a nice surprise. They also let us into our room early which was good as it was raining very heavily that day. The location is in the heart of Yaletown and there are so many restaurants to choose from. I would definitely stay here again.
"Great hotel with fantastic service."
My twin sister and I loved staying at the Opus. It's located right across the street from the skytrain station, which was very convenient. We had a bit of trouble finding the hotel because the entrance is so understated; go across the street and turn right (not left). Our room was nice and the beds were very comfortable. It was interesting that the bathroom wall was an outside window, but it was easy to lower the the shade for privacy. My sister was happy that our room TV had a station with the Giants playoff game. The Opus staff went out of their way to be helpful with sightseeing recommendations and dinner reservations. There are many wonderful restaurants on Hamilton Street (very near the hotel). The neighborhood also has many excellent coffee shops within easy walking distance. Vancouver is a very walkable town, we walked to both Stanley Park and Gastown from the Opus. A member of the hotel staff gave us a ride to Granville Island, a great place to shop and eat, and we took a water taxi back to the hotel. Our trip was great way to celebrate our 60th birthday and we both look forward to returning to Vancouver and the Opus.
"great hotel in a great location"
I stayed at this hotel with a professional group. the hotel service was very good, rooms were clean and the location was excellent being in close proximity to many restaurants. decor is very interesting and we all compared notes on what picture was in our room and what color our room was. as stated in another person's review, several people in our group had the glass fronted bathrooms which were beautiful and unique. The only down side was the expensive parking. I had previously stayed at a different hotel for two nights and the parking was not valet but was half the price. our meeting host had negotiated a conference rate for us that made this hotel a little more affordable but by US standards I would say it was still on the pricey end.
"As It Should Be"
Everything worked. It was top quality in both material and service. i was very comfortable, both physically and mentally. My room was not available when I arrived early, so I left my things and went for lunch. When I returned, the handed my my key; my things were waiting in my room. The staff were so nice. What more can I say!
