"Hip and Happening Vibe"
This boutique hotel was referred to me by a my good friend for a short trip to Vancouver. In the heart of Yaletown, hip and thriving restaurant location and quaint and quiet at night. I got a quaint room on the 6th floor (603). I enjoyed the accessibility to my friend's home and really good restaurants around. The Metro is across the hotel so even easier than getting a cab (though at first, I got a cab since I wasn't sure on the location with a heavy luggage) and thus I took it directly back to the airport on the day I leave. ROOM: The room is big, spacious for one but ample for two with luggage area for two persons to spare inside the room. I liked the amenities with the room. *NOTE: my room was near the maid's changing area so doors gets slammed around cleaning hour so if you want a more quiet room or not be woken up earlier, do request NOT to give you this room. STAFF: I had a bit of a run-in (not that friendly or wanting to help me) with directions and location check with one of the front desk person (he didn't know the street crossing of the London Drugs that I was particularly looking for or there was none in the street crossing he sent me to), the rest of the trip was quite good and the other front desk persons and concierge help, I got later on was much better. DECOR: The decor is contemporary modern and I appreciate the fact that shampoos are in secure, locked dispensers. I love their cocktail like flavors from the shampoo to the body gel. Absolutely cool! The coffee machine maker is wonderful and it was stocked everyday during my stay. My only concern is that there is not hot pot for just plain hot water if I want one at night but aside from that, perfect! LOCATION: I chose this location since it is nearer my friend's home and it is similar in price and amenities as another boutique hotel that I was looking into. Although there are no big shops around, Robson is a walk-able distance and there are small boutique shops around plus the Yalehouse Roundhouse (a tourist spot). I haven't tried their chauffeur drop-off/pick-up service but I heard it is offered to hotel guests. You might want to check that out if you will be exploring Downtown. Valet parking is also available though I didn't use it. Verdict: I would say here again and totally enjoyed the more peaceful and less people neighborhood.
Unique rooms; friendly helpful staff; great location made this an awesome staycation! Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Vancouver...everything is within walking distance. Surrounded by great restaurants and across the street from the transit station > easy access from the airport.
This was my first experience at Opus. I have always contemplated staying with them, but when I stumbled across the Amex deal online, I could not pass up the opportunity! Such an awesome deal. At check-in, we had mimosas and I was able to check-in early. The staff was super friendly, and helpful. Our room was great, great decor, cute bathroom. and Location, location, location! I will be coming back on my next trip! This was a completely perfect weekend!
My wife and I stayed two nights at Opus to check out Yaletown. The staff is extremely cheerful, friendly and helpful. We had the courtyard room with fireplace. Nice and quiet compared to a street view room. Excellent bed too. One disadvantage, you can forget something on the patio as I did with my phone. Fortunately they found it and send it back to me. Great charming place and great staff!
"Now this is Customer Service!"
I am not sure that I can appropriately extoll the virtues of the Opus and it’s amazing staff! From the time that I arrived after training down from the airport in the pouring rain to the time I sadly left, it was a wonderful experience. Upon arrival I connected with Jordana who promptly took care of me and offered a wonderful glass of Sparkling wine which I happily drank. Never, have I had this kind of reception! I also have to thank Jordana who quickly handed me a swipe card after I locked myself out. I was in my PJ’s. LOL! Over all the Opus team was very knowledgeable, always willing to assist and go beyond. This was very evident when checking out. The Opus and a number of city blocks surrounding them all lost power and the Team were handing out flashlights and even climbing the stairs to take them to people in their rooms! You are all rock! My Virtual Lifestyle Concierge was Susan and we were well suited. The King Standard room was beautiful with its blue foxglove walls, décor/accessories, great and comfortable bed and a bathroom that could easily fit 10. Room service was prompt and courteous. The Gourmet Burger and homemade potato chips made my “stay in” evening perfect! All Hotels could learned from Opus even if they are not a Boutique. The Staff’s beautiful demeanours and personal care with their clients will ensure that I will return every time I am in Vancouver. Thank so much Opus Team! Laurie Waldron
