Excellent hotel. Right in the middle of downtown Alexandria. Near all the King Street restaurants. Staff was exceptional. Room was clean and very nicely decorated in the "Hotel Monaco" style. Front desk was very helpful. I will stay hear again.
"Cute hotel in a great location"
I stayed at the Monaco for a short business trip. We had a meeting on King Street, so we stayed here to be able to walk to our meeting the next morning. We walked down King Street to eat dinner. There were lots of people walking around, including families with children. I would love to go back to this area again when I have time to take in the sights. The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was polite and helpful. The mini bar/fridge was stocked with lots of treats and beverages (who doesn't want some gummy bears and a glass of wine') There is a restaurant attached next to it that we had a drink at the night of our stay, and then ate breakfast at the next morning.
"Very comfortable "
7 of us stayed for 4 nights, and we were all very pleased. Our rooms were large and very clean. The staff was most helpful. A very nice cocktail hour with wine and appetizer. We all would recommend this hotel, and will certainly go back.they have continental breakfast, which was very good.
"Trendy, eclectic and awesome"
Very clean, great service and located in an interesting city. The staff is very friendly and dedicated to making your stay comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants something unique clean and very well maintained.
"Okay, but not great"
Stayed here for two nights while on business in DC. I normally stay at the Madera, but there was no room this time. The Moncao is nice, and well located, and has the usual Kimpton advantages. I did however find the room too small (surprising), and the choice between a stuffy room and a noisy aircon unit right next to the bed not that great. Also, it overlooked the courtyard which was quite loud until late on Sunday night. The pool is okay, but not really good for proper swimming, because it is too shallow at one end. Gym looks functional. Location is fine if you want to be in Alexandria, but not for DC, too far out, and adds a lot in either time, or taxi fees (or indeed both). Can't comment on other services, since I did not use them, due to the short stay. I am going back to the Madera. If I were in the business of visiting Alexandria, rather than DC, I'd stay here.
