"Customer Service is TOPS"
Hotel Monaco in Alexandria offers convenience and comfort, but what stands out most in my mind is the impeccable customer service shown by every friendly, helpful employee with whom I was in contact . I was a part of a fairly large group attending a conference. Everyone, including me, loved the complimentary Wine Reception each evening beginning at 5. What a bonus! How endearing that pets are very much welcome. Yet another added bonus. The airport shuttle service offered to and fro seems to be a fairly good deal; however, both ways involved a long waiting period. This is the only negative; it was somewhat frustrating, and I'd rate Hotel Monaco with five rather than four had this not been the case. Nonetheless, this lovely Kimpton Hotel is highly recommended by me!
"THE BEST OF EVERYTHING IN OLD TOWN - LOCATION, LUXURY, AND SERVICE!!!"
If you're looking for the absolute BEST place to stay in Old Town...STOP looking as soon as you find The Hotel Monaco because you'll find no better place to stay!!! The staff is absolutely wonderful - they make you feel like long lost friends the moment you pull up out front!! Everyone is warm and friendly - always ready with a smile! The place is cozy and gorgeous and comfortable from top to bottom - from the lobby to the guest rooms - the colors pop and the beds - oh, those beds - SO amazing - makes it hard to get up and explore all the wonders that Old Town has to offer! One of the best amenities is that you can bring along your beloved dog - for no extra charge - and they will treat your fur-baby just like one of the family, too! I cannot say enough great things about The Hotel Monaco, and when we go back to the D.C. area (and we WILL be back) - we will be staying at the Monaco again - like there's any other choice'!' No other place would measure up!!!
"Classy hotel in a great location!"
Stayed in a double room with two other friends while in town for a wedding. The beds were soft but the pillows were a little poufy (not hard but not soft). The rooms are well equipped and the minibar is fully loaded with goodies (at a price, of course). The bathrooms have been remodeled and are large. Water pressure is good as well! The location is great if you're planning on exploring Old Town Alexandria. Prime location on King Street! The hotel bar also has great drinks if you don't want to venture out. When we were there for a Thurs/Fri night, it was $200/night - split amongst 3 people it wasn't bad, but if I were solo it would be too pricey for me.
"Fantastic Location and Wonderful Service"
We loved staying at the Hotel Monaco Alexandria; in fact, it may be one of my favorite hotels we've every stayed in. The hotel is in a fantastic location right on King Street, the main street that runs through the charming Old Town area. Just about anything you could want is located within walking distance - lots of beautiful shops and wonderful restaurants. There's also a free trolley that runs up and down King Street that will take you to the Metro station on one end for a quick 20-minute trip into D.C., and to the waterfront on the other. The hotel lobby is beautiful with a boutique feel, and they offer a free wine reception every evening. They also have a restaurant, Jackson 20, right on site. The rooms are very comfortable with a nice desk, great little sitting area, WIFI, and spectacular comfy beds. I'd recommend joining their Kimpton Karma rewards program; we did, and they gave us a gift card for $10 worth of credit for the minibar in our room. We were celebrating a special occasion while we were there, and they sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne and pretty little chocolates. We were touched at their thoughtfulness and great service. Also loved the way things were decorated, especially the bathoom with its cool graphic black and white wallpaper. One fun little twist: If you want a goldfish in your room, they'll bring you one in a little fish bowl, and it even has a name card where you can name your fish. It's a quirky little unexpected surprise that you don't see at other hotels. This is a pet friendly hotel, but we requested a "fur free" room, and our allergies never bothered us once. If you want to stay in a fantastic, charming location with wonderful service, the Hotel Monaco Alexandria will not disappoint. We would love to go back and stay here again someday.
"Location, Luxury and Fun!"
I have been staying at this property for more than 20 years since it was a Holiday Inn and you absolutely can't beat the location and the ability to walk to numerous attractions. I actually work in Old Town and stayed the night for my wife's recent birthday. Kimpton Hotels did a complete upgrade several years ago and transformed the property into a fun, luxurious and eclectic place. First hotel I have seen in a long time that the lobby is actually used by the guests to sit, mingle and enjoy their nightly wine offerings. The rooms are great and the staff very friendly and accommodating. There was a minor snafu with a discount I had arranged and when the desk clerk couldn't authorize the credit, the Manager stepped right in and made it right in a matter of seconds (even though it appeared we eventually received a double discount). Walk two minutes down the street to Landini Brothers restaurant for a fabulous meal. Highly recommended!
