"stay here if you are visiting Old Town"
Super clean, super comfortable in a charming historic building. Ideal location for walking around old town. Friendly attentive staff. Cozy living room (their term for the lobby). Free wine hour for guests. Dog friendly. Be aware of the $27/day parking fee. But the room rates were very reasonable. I will stay here every time I come to Old Town. Pay up for the rooms with a balcony overlooking the courtyard.
"Dogs 1st Boutique Hotel"
I was looking for a hotel that was nice, walking distance to local shops, had a nice restaurant and most importantly allowed my 50 pound dog to stay for free! I kept finding there were pet charges between $50 - $150 for your pet to stay. Not only did my dog stay for free, the room was lovely (beautifully decorated) which included a doggie bed and dog dishes. Additionally there was a human wine happy hour in the lobby from 5-6. The staff was lovely and I would 100% stay here again (with or without the dog). Also, the ribs at the restaurant (Jackson 20) are worth mentioning. Outstanding!!
This hotel is perfectly located if you want to easily visit and enjoy Alexandria. You can walk to tons of restaurants, the water front, and it is pretty close to the main high way. My husband and I were in town for a long weekend and this hotel perfectly suited our needs. Everyone was very friendly and there is a parking garage right next to the hotel where you can park overnight for a fair price (on the weekends). The hotel is a little on the pricey end, so it was nice to be able to save money on parking. My only issue was with room service (which isn't even run by the hotel). They completely messed up my order and then when I called, they said they would send me up the right food, but never did, and we were still charged. Other than that, we had no complaints.
"Second stay - and would stay again"
A nice hotel - great decor (contemporary design featuring a historic twist given the location), great service (smiling and friendly staff at every corner), and very comfortable. Room clean and quiet (never heard anyone around us), and bed very cozy. Don't mind the dog friendly atmosphere - the town is absolutely dog friendly so if having dogs around isn't your thing - don't go to Alexandria. By far the best thing about good hotel - location, location, location. Can't beat it.
"Kimpton Hotels, Always on Top"
While pricey, like all other Kimpton hotels, the Monaco Alexandria is beautiful, clean and staffed with friendly employees. Dog friendly and the decor is definitely unique and fun, again, in line with the Kimpton Brand. I particularly love the choice of colors. The location is perfectly situated on the main strip of Old Town Alexandria's King St. It's nice being able to walk out the door and be close to everything. If you are looking for a place in Old Town that is in the middle of all the popular spots, this is the place. The King St. Metro is about a nice 15 minute walk from here. There is a free trolly that rides up and down King St. that you can take too. I have never parked my car here, so,I can't speak on that, but there is a cheap public garage across the street where the fountain is (in front of City Hall) on N. Fairfax St. that I recommend. This lot has hours of which it operates, so take note of that before parking there.
