The room was comfortable, attractively decorated, clean as can be! The staff was helpful and the location is perfect for exploring historic Alexandria or going in to Washington, D.C. I ordered breakfast from room service and everything was delicious and well-prepared. The hotel atmosphere was friendly.
My family booked two rooms, One handicapped and one normal room. We finally arrived to the front desk and said we had two regular rooms. We corrected the man, but he said they accidently put two regular rooms. They did have a handicapped room left, but it was on the 4 floor and we were on the 2nd we asked if they could move our room closer to my handicapped grandma just in case something happened. They moved me and my mother to the 5th floor (A.K.A the basement). We were stuck in the basement for the week because they messed up.
"Quality, Service and Great location"
The hotel is low key and refined, but comfortable and friendly. An excellent choice if you want to be in the heart of old town Alexandria. Convenient to numerous restaurants, shops, and all that makes Alexandria a special place. Check-in, park your car, and walk to everything. The staff at both the hotel and the restaurant are also excellent. If you plan ahead you can often find daily rates considerably below the standard rack rate.
"Perfect stay. Great location."
Hotel Monaco is a boutique hotel located in Old Town Alexandria. This was my first stay in Kimpton Hotel property. The hotel is just blocks from the Alexandria waterfront as well as the historic Gadsby’s Tavern. The location is excellent with tons of shops and restaurants in any direction. Your first impression is the eclectic, sapphire blue lobby. The lobby makes for a very comfortable lounge during the evening wine reception from 5 – 6. Other interesting touches include the option to have a goldfish in your room to “keep you company during your stay”; and who needs a plain, white bathrobe, when the Monaco gives you the choice of zebra or leopard print, terry-cloth robes. I was fortunate to have been upgraded to a suite. The suite was fantastic, with a large sitting room with desk and wall-mounted television. This room was perfect for lounging, entertaining or working. There were two large windows, overlooking King Street that allowed in tons of natural light. Upstairs (yes, upstairs) was the bedroom, comfortable chair, 55-60” television and master bath (there was also a WC on the main floor). The master bath included double vanities, glass shower and large whirlpool tub. Service was also a high-point during my stay from front desk to bellhops to the nightly reception to the turn down service. My first impression of Kimpton Hotels was very positive. This was a perfect stay. I look forward to my next visit.
"Nice place, well located."
My wife and I visited Alexandria and stayed here based on the recommendations of others on Trip Advisor. I agree with those views. This is a very nice hotel. It is in a great location and walking distance to all of the small shops along King Street. We had a suite with a balcony. The furnishings were comfortable leaning toward a contemporary style but not over the top. I would suggest they clean the carpet. Unfortunately the carpet selection is light and prone to show spills. There were spots on the carpet which were noticeable. Our room had a claw footed bathtub my wife liked and shower is pretty much 1/2 the bath with no door or curtain. It works though. Front reception service and checkout were excellent. I would recommend. TIP: Jing the Kimpton Club and the Wi fi is free.
