"Not very inspiring lobby tea lounge"
They serve a buffet for afternoon tea. The ala carte cake menu was super limited, they only had new york cheese cake. Tried the iced lychee mint tea with the cake, the cheese cake was good. The tea had lots of mint leaves but had no taste of mint. Not a very inspiring tea lounge. Most tea lounges in Hong Kong have live music like a pianist or a harpist but not here.
I just left the JW Marriott and it was excellent. I have stayed here several times in the past. It's well located with lower ground access to Pacific Place and Admiralty MTR station. The staff in the executive lounge was outstanding. I had access due to my Platinum status and had breakfast and evening cocktails every day. I checked in and out via the executive lounge. Rooms were great and clean and modern. I didn't try any of the restaurants so I can't comment on them but everything else was really great! Will stay here again.
"Wonderful hotel, amazing service, great location"
We arrived at the JW Marriott after a very long flight and it was all we could hope for and much more. We took the airport train downtown and then took the free shuttle bus to the hotel (very easy!). From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Our room was ready very early which was great. We had a room that faced the mountains. It was nicely upgraded and had a lot of outlets, including provided converters. We ordered pillows which was a nice perk, and were also provided a bottle of champagne and cupcakes for our honeymoon. The services of the hotel were also nice. We used the pool/hot tub a few times and also used the gym quite a bit. The gym was so nice and they had a ton of machines. The pool was kind of cool, but the hot tub was great, and the view was just gorgeous. The location of the hotel is also great. On the Central Hong Kong side, the hotel is walkable to Soho and the Victoria Peak tram. It's situated on top of a mall that connects right to the metro system. 1 stop over and you are at the main ferry terminals.
"Nice hotel that does not live up to its promise"
For a business meeting on Victoria island I stayed at the Marriott. The hotel is already quite some years old and that shows in the rooms. The lobby, the bar and other aspects remain impressive and commensurate with the high price. The rather small rooms show signs of age: carpets start to be worn, dusty and dirty, The glass door of the shower does not close and so the water runs over the floor. The bedding is fantastic however. Harbor views are a thing of the past. On the West side new buildings all but block the formerly impressive views. This time I happened to be on the side of the Chinese Army flat, so looking towards the mountain. Not quite a view to say: Wow!!! I had dinner at the hotel twice. The first was at the Flint. The steak we ordered proved not be be cured but to be overcured hence bad, smelly and inedible. The wine suffered cork.... (at check out I got a discount, not even a refund......) Our experience at the Man Ho was OK. Excellent food and friendly service. The breakfast is superb. The selection is overwhelming and one has to be well motivated not to overeat. That the breakfast comes at a (high) price is no wonder. The location of the hotel is very convenient. At walking distance of almost all important offices, the underground, the park and .....the tram. For a beer Wan Chai is around the corner!!!
"Grand location, tired property..."
Stayed here for 1 night on very long transit before flight connection. JWM is a great property brand to stay with, especially outside of the US. These brands deliver excellent service and attention - that is what I received from check-in to departure - I was indeed very well taken care of. You are unlikely to get that kind of 'oriental' attention in the US or European based luxury based properties. On check-in, I received an upgrade to a suite (app 70m2). The rooms are immaculate, but show signs of aging - the furnishings appear to be old style, but extremely well maintained. Overall, it gives you a retro 1990s feel, but the ambience is still great, and deserves a full 5*. If you have loyalty status with Marriott, you'll also get the breakfast, etc, benefits... so they gave me all that I had asked, and the stay was great.
