The Abbaye de Talloires is situated 12 kilometers from Annecy on the eastern side of the lake. Located in the heart of the Talloires bay, getting to the abbey is not difficult. Annecy is served by a High Speed Train (TGV) station and Geneva airport is less than an hour away by road.

"2 night retreat"
Tough choice between 4 and 5 score. Would have preferred espresso maker in room. Bar in basement has no view. Historic hotel is beautiful but would have preferred the luxury of nejghbor hotels like The Cottage.
Magical place to stay! Stunning view by Lake Annecy on the charming Bay of Talloires. The 1000-year old historic building is tastefully renovated recently, yet preserved its timeless elegance. It's our second time staying here and we can't wait to come back again! Top notched service- Warm and caring staff delivering professional attentive service, that consistently exceeding 5-star quality. Restaurant served amazing and original food (indeed one of the best restaurants in the region) with good selection of wine (knowledgeable sommelier). Overall a truly wonderful stay! (We had our wedding here last year, and we can't be more satisfied with flawless service delivered by the staff from planning to execution. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a lake wedding venue. )
"charming but disappointing"
We feel there was more shabby than chic and our room ,although it had a lovely lake view, was shoebox sized and the bathroom tiny - we were on the 3rd floor -no lift - so you could be going up and down all day if you don't plan. We ate at other hotels for dinner and breakfast and they seemed better value.
"Hotel with a view that is hard to beat"
We stayed at the Abbaye and loved it. It is situated on Lake Annecy in Talloires and the location is superb. It was a lovely old building and the cloister where you check I. Is amazing. The rooms are relatively small but given the age of the building that is to be expected. There are rooms with views over the lake which seem to be most sought after but we had what was called a garden room. We loved it and you could see the lake from our balcony. Excellent restaurant, eating outside in the garden is wonderful. One of the highlights for us was pre dinner drinks on the lake shore in front of the hotel. View was wonderful and we waited for sun to set behind The Roc du Chere before heading in for excellent dinner.
"Truly unique m special place"
My wife and I are home probably only a month or two during the year. The rest of the time we live in hotel suites in amazing hotels: the Bel Air in L.A., the University Club in New York, Clardge's in London, the Ritz in Paris, the Beau Rivage in Geneva, the Peninsula in Shanghai, etc. L'Abbaye in Talloires, France is definitely more low key, but it is nevertheless one of our favorite places to stay in the world, and we try to stay there at least two weeks every other year. The location so unique, so much prettier than Lake Geneva or Lake Como. There is no better view, no better light on water and mountains anywhere. Furthermore, the staff is extremely nice, especially the manager Sylvain, and Madam Kirchner. The half month we stay here is always one of our happiest experiences of the year. In the 1600s those monks certainly picked the right location. Cezanne certainly painted and loved the beauty of the colors and light, and my fellow Missourian, Mark Twain (who spent as little time on his boyhood soil as I now do), wrote a wonderful description of L'Abbaye, the Lake and of Annecy, that I would love to appropriate. However, I just 'second' his deft description that you can read, if you google "Mark Twain L'Abbaye". Just experience it for yourself. No place rejuvenates my spirit more than coming back here. Enjoy!
