"I found this hotel hard to find even with GPS but once found pleasant hotel"
Once I had found the hotel which is tucked away in a small plaza that even my GPS couldn't find. I received a warm welcome at reception but was disappointed to discover that the pool was closed and also there was no dinner service in the Restaraunt The room was spacious enough but the view was non existent more or less an air vent No wonder the curtains were closed in the room Overall the hotel is pleasant and a good location to city centre
"A disappointing bonus night"
After finally having sufficient bonus points (hotels.com) we looked forward to a free night. The hotel has smart design and excellent location near the cathedral. The room was big, but there was absolutely no view - just a small light shaft. The second disappointment was the maintenance of the outdoor pool. That was not advertised on their website. Breakfast was nice, but not better than to make this an average stay in a fantastic city.
A great hotel centrally located with underground valet parking. The room was well appointed with a good bathroom and a/c. The buffet style breakfast was one of the best we've had in a spainish hotel, lots of choice and constantly restocked including hot dishes. Would strongly recommend this hotel. We didn't try the restart but chose to go to our favourite Italian L'Tagliatella.
"Weekend city breaj"
This hotel is very centrally based with say a 100m of all the best tapas bars. It is also very close to the cathedral and the Castle which are the 2 main tourist attractions in my opinion . Parking can be a problem in Almeria but this hotel has underground parking for about 10 euros a day which is a godsend. Room was nice and quite large amenities quite basic really but the roof swimming pool is nice to relax at on a hot day. Fridges in room too the chill drinks and take up!
We were booked into this hotel for 7 nights and arrived quite late in the evening and given the keys to a room looking on to a very small inner courtyard. As the room had no net curtains we would have had to live with the curtains continually shut as to the left and right of our window were other bedroom windows and directly opposite (approximately 3 metres away) was the corridor window. We were promised an alternative room the following day as the hotel was full that night but the only alternative room available was only slightly better as it gave us a bit more light but it overlooked the small outdoor bar area adjacent to the pool. Luckily this bar area was not open at that time as customers would have been able to look directly into our room as once again no net curtains on window. However anybody passing the window en route to the pool would have seen directly into our room had they looked in our direction. There was two of us booked in yet we only ever had one shower gel and one shampoo despite reading on previous Tripadvisor reviews that the hotel spokesperson states this must have been a mistake as it is company policy ALWAYS to provide 2 gels and 2 shampoos when two guests are staying. On one occasion when we came back after being out all day we were disappointed to find that we had not been left any Gel or shampoo at all. We did ask at reception if we could have some but could get the male at reception to understand what we were after and had to resort to using the 'golf ball' soap for showers that evening and the following morning. Another comment we would like to make regarding the bathroom was the positioning of the toilet being so near to the sharp corner of the glass shelf of the sink unit. When sitting on the toilet the corner was only approximately 10cms from eye level and when turning to use the toilet tissue one really had to take care not to bump this sharp corner. The bath plug had PUSH written on it in very large letters but no matter how much either of us tried neither of us were able to have a bath that week as the water just ran away. The plus at the wash hand basin did the same. There was also no shaving/makeup mirror which we thought was common place in a 4 star hotel. There was however a very powerful shower which we both appreciated. Breakfast was adequate in the morning but rarely did we find that both hot dishes were replenished. Most days we could only have one hot dish but for some odd reason they always replenished the dishes10 minutes before the end of the breakfast period. Normally when on holiday we have a drink in the bar before retiring to the bedroom at the end of the day but were not enticed in any way by the gloomy surroundings and lack of atmosphere in the bar of this hotel. We enjoyed Almeria and the hotel was very conveniently situated for all the historical sites but just requires a bit of a makeover and a bit of attention paid to the standard of the rooms.
