This hotel was clean, modern and centrally located. Some areas of the floor looked a little dusty but overall it was a decent stay. The staff was helpful by calling a cab for us and helping with directions.
"Clean hotel with great service and location"
We're enjoying this hotel immensely. Yes, the shower does sometimes spray onto the bathroom floor, but that was the same design in our other hotel in Rome. It seems to be the normal set-up in Italy. As for location, we're quite pleased with being away from downtown. We did discover the tram system, which is 1 block from the hotel. Look up Alamanni-Stazione Florence on the website, click on T1 tram (orange button) and you'll be able to see all of the stops it makes. We boarded just one block from this hotel at the Porta Al Prato - Leopalda Station and for 1.20 EURO it takes us directly to the SM Novella train station (1st stop in the direction of Alamanni-Stazione). From there, you are about a 15 minute walk to Duomo. On the way back, we just headed the other direction. During the daylight hour, we walked it, but in the evening, we felt a little better about taking the tram instead. We had a light go out in our room and I mentioned it to the front desk. They sent a service repairman to our room and he replaced the bulb. All good!
"Out of the Crowds, Close to the DUOMO"
Great locations with Marriott service, Rooms are upscale European, very crisp and modern, baths are large, and we requested walk in shower and they were accommodating. The Lobby bar/restaurant was open most of the day, the late nit fare was tasty and quick service. The hotel is about a block away from the tram that runs to the central train station which is close to the tourist center of Florence. 3 day or week long passes work on tram and buses, including the hop-a-bus that runs around all the standard sites. Staff was great, room clean, AC worked, outside noise was non-existent across street from Opera House,.
"Echoing previous statements about not being a good choice for Elite Members"
I should've read the reviews before staying here. As a Marriott Rewards Gold member, I was deeply disappointed by the lack recognition I got for my loyalty. I don't expect an upgrade every time, but free breakfast and fast wifi would be nice to have. The hotel staff was not very helpful and actually quite rude. This left a bad taste in my mouth for the AC brand as a whole. Other big cons to this place: the minimum temp you can set your room to is 20 degrees C, and the bright blue light on the tv that shines on your face when you try to fall asleep.
"Towels are not enough "
I don't know if it's because we had a early check-in, so that the cleaners didn't settle the correct numbers of towels, we only got 2 bath towels, 1 medium size towel, and NO hand towels... there's even a "half" bag of sugar, which had already been opened.... floor was not clean; the walls were very thin, we could hear noise from the hallway.
