"Style over Practicality"
I spent a night here this week, it having been booked by my company. For starters, the location is good- minutes from Media City, The Lowry and Old Trafford and a 10 minute drive from Central Manchester. There's also a tram station across the road. Check in was efficient but the staff were rather cold- during my stay I never met anyone who smiled or seemed to want to be there. One of the receptionists even struggled to speak English which must be a prerequisite, surely'! My 1st floor room was very spacious, and very clean and the WiFi worked well. However the design of this hotel really wasn't to my appeal; not enough storage space, wardrobes so short you can properly hang a shirt, an ironing board propped up against the wall because apparently that looks good, cups so small you can't fit the drinks in them, pillows half the size of normal ones, and the bar of soap doubled as a golf ball. I can't say I enjoyed my stay, certainly didn't feel very welcome, and to top it off never got the wake up call I booked. I'm sure this is the ideal people for certain people- possibly those who think we should eat of pieces of slate, drink beetroot juice and drive a hybrid purely because it looks good... Not my cup of tea, but as I say it's clean and has a good location so I can't say it's a "bad" hotel, hence the 3 stars!
"Beautiful hotel! Amazing Facilities!"
We've just held our annual residents meeting here and I can not recommend this hotel highly enough. We used meeting room Quayside 3 and the room was perfect. Excellent AV Equipment, slick, modern decor, air conditioning, drinks and food provided and highly professional staff! The entrance lounge, bar and library areas give a really great wow factor for when meeting guests and colleagues and we wouldn't book anywhere else!! Well done AC Team! Probably the best hotel in Salford Quays now!
"Excellent hotel within easy reach of the main attractions in Salford and Manchester"
Myself and a friend where visiting Manchester for the second day of the South African test match and as Marriott Rewards members looked for a Marriott property nearby. The AC brand, a recent addition to the Marriott family, suited our needs and as we'd stayed in an AC property in Spain thought we knew what to expect. How wrong we were, although the spanish property was very good the AC Salford was the next level up. We stayed 3 nights. The hotel is only one year old and is ideally located within 15 -20 minutes walking distance to Old Trafford football and cricket grounds. There are two tram stops within 5 minutes of the hotel that get you east to the centre of Manchester and west to Media City both within 10-15 minutes. The car park is shared with the IBIS hotel next door and by 21.00 was full so get there early if you want a space, the cost was £7 a day but there is apparently nearby parking available, although we didn't need it. Checkin was extremely smooth and efficient as I'd booked in using the Marriott mobile app, we were allocated excellent rooms on the 8th floor facing the rear of the hotel overlooking the skyline of Manchester and the hills in the distance. The room was a good size and had a large king bed, easy chair, chair and desk, there were plenty of accessible sockets for charging tablets phones and PCs. There is a safe and fridge with a four free drinks plus a coffee maker that uses pods. The bathroom had the most amenities I've come across, bath gel, soap, mouth wash, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, comb, toothbrush and paste, shoe shine, shower cap (apologises if I missed anything). The rain shower in the bath was very good and always nice an hot. There is a large wall mounted TV and the free wifi was very good and consistent, We decided to take the breakfast option which proved to be a very good decision as the buffet breakfast was excellent value for money. The choice and quality is very good with plenty of pleasant staff on hand to keep the area well stocked and clean. All the staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Salford or Manchester, I would certainly stay here again if in the area.
We managed to get a discount on the hotel, so we only paid £80 per night. I was expecting it to be a bit of a budget hotel, but it was completely the opposite! The hotel reception was super busy when we arrived but the man (tall, dark short hair) who checked us in made us feel really welcome. The rooms were lovely with a huge TV and a great view over the city, and the beds were super comfy. The gym has 24/7 access, and a good range of equipment (better than most hotels.) Breakfast and evening food in the hotel was AMAZING with a good range for vegetarians, and there's two restaurants nearby too. Parking was extra at £7 a day but it has full CCTV coverage so we didn't mind. The icing on the cake for me was the heated mirrors in the bathroom (so you can do your makeup whilst your boyfriend hogs the shower) and the takeaway coffee cups so you can avoid paying for a fancy coffee when you go out. There's also a takeaway place that will deliver cookie dough straight to the hotel! It's about a 10 min drive from EventCity (£15 taxi, bus is around £3) but it's worth staying here over a Premier Inn or Ibis. Would definitely stay here again, left a review on Booking.com too 😄
