"Frank at the front desk is the best"
just returned from 3 day stay with the family . I want to thank Frank (at front desk) for going the extra mile. He seemed to be working at the front desk when we woke up in the morning until we returned at night. His cheerful assistance, recommendations and all around first class service make this wonderful stay even more enjoyable. We similarly received great service in the dinning room.
"Stay at a nicer place"
I delayed writing this review by a week as I wanted to make sure I wasn't too frustrated when I wrote it as I am normally pleased with most of my Marriott stays, which is a lot as I have 72 nights this year and am a Platinum Elite rewards member. After this stay, I'll never stay at an AC Hotel again. This was my first experience in an AC and it is definitely a lower lever Hotel than others in the Marriott chain. My advice is to spend a few more Euro and go to a nicer place. So where did they go wrong' The staff was kind and let me check in early. I was nicely welcomed and most of the front desk staff (the gentleman in the directions office offered great service) but when I checked into my room I found into the room I found urine on the wall (I'll share a pic). The fitness center is the size of a closet. It has one weight bench, one bicycle and one very old treadmill. There was nothing to clean the equipment with, so guests get to enjoy using sweaty, dirty equipment. The room didn't have places to store my clothes besides the small closet, so this hotel is definitely not good for families to stay. Also, with families you go through a bit of laundry and there are no self-use washers on site. The hotel offers laundry but at 4,50 Euro just to have your underwear washed -- you can imagine how pricey that is. There is no option to have an entire bag laundered, which I highly recommend Marriott do as more people would then pay for this service. I asked a woman at the front desk in the evening if there was a laundry nearby that I could walk to and she acted as though she didn't understand what I said and walked off. Fortunately, the kind gentleman in the morning gave me a map and showed me how to get to one. The breakfast is over-priced and the service is very poor. If it's not in your room rate, the breakfast is 16 Euro each. The breakfast staff is room and untimely with cleaning the tables. All the tables were covered in dirty dishes even though just one table was being used at the time. When I asked if they could clean a table of dishes for me the woman just stared at me, so I asked if she could in my broken Spanish. This seemed to infuriate the lady who was visibly mad but she did go clear a table. Aside from the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom and fitness center, I have rom safety concerns for those with children. One thing to be cautious of is the tub is about 18 inches off the ground and is very difficult to get in and out of. So who should stay here if not families' There is no computer or printer for guest use, so this hotel is not good for business stays. Really, I have no idea who this hotel would be good for -- but it's not good for me. Also, to note so that the manager can't argue and say they didn't know with this post I already emailed them about it (I'm not able to post a pic of her response as Trip Advisor won't let me upload an iPhone screenshot). Do yourself a favor and stay at a nicer hotel.
"Nice quality hotel at a reasonable price"
While this hotel is not downtown, but it is a quality place to stay with several advantages: - great room with excellent bed - parking is only 17 euros per night - about 8 euro cab rides most places downtown with a taxi queue in front - metro/train stop two blocks away (although we found the change at Espanya station at bit in convenient) Overall a very nice place to stay at a very good overall price, especially if you have a car.
Stayed here for 2 nights after Mediterranean cruise. Not in the middle of things,so rates are lower, but easy access to metro to get into old Barcelona. Comfortable room, very helpful staff, had good burgers and salads for dinner.Sort of a business hotel, but worked fine for our purposes,so would recommend without hesitation.
"If location is important"
This hotel is out of town and a 30 minutes taxi ride from the city center with traffic jams almost all day long). So if you're there as a tourist, it is definitely not the most convenient place to stay. However, it is very close, a 15 minutes walk from the Fira convention center and if that's the aim of your stay, this hotel is worth consideration. The hotel is OK but is not standing out, hence, combined with the inconvenient location, the average score. Let me start with the average part. The hall with the bar is rather small and not very inviting. The service is average. The rooms are OK and had 2 one person beds, joined together. The bathroom was good but was missing a few features. No shaving mirror (or make-up mirror for the ladies), no washing cloth and no iron to restyle a wrinkled shirt. About the last thing, I was told that you could ask for one but there were only a few in the hotel and they were only available for a limited time. On the positive side, the breakfast was complete although not extravagant. The usual eggs, meat, cheese, sweet stuff, fresh (!) fruit, different sorts of bread ..; You have to serve yourself some coffee from the Nespresso machine. The breakfast room was rather small but that did not seem to be an issue as there was always room to sit even as the hotel was fully booked (I think). For a decent dinner you have to take a taxi to go into town. While we were there that was a real challenge as it once took me more than half an hour to grab one. I was told that this was due to a strike of the public transport sector and that normally, there are some taxis waiting in front of the hotel. On top, there have been a few issues with the elevators, that did not contribute to a better score. The staff was correct but at some points not helpful (e.g. in getting a taxi when there were none available). To end with a positive note, with a few modifications, I'm willing to review the score to 4.
