Located in the new trade fair area of Barcelona, AC Som is 200m away from Fira 2 and few minutes away from El Prat airport.
The hotel is well connected with the centre of Barcelona and Plaza España.
"Nice and Helpful to U.S. Travelers"
My son and I checked in the AC Som Marriott at the last minute to have a day in Barcelona after getting off of a cruise ship. Since we did not have plans it worked out perfect. The manager spoke English. Sent off off to explore great places in the city. I had rented a car at the Airport to travel the small towns of Spain the next day and he points us to the local bus. It took us right to the airport for 2. 3 Euros and we got the rental car and were on our way. - Normally I would have been very lost with the sudden change of plans but they helped us make it work - Staff is great!
"Good hotel relatively close to the airport (via taxi)."
We thought this was a very pleasant hotel. There were coffee and croissants in the lounge through the day with a variety of international newspapers. Relaxing. Breakfast (buffet style/generally an extra charge) was excellent with good selection/fresh and clean. Staff in the hotel were very friendly (English excellent) and forthcoming with directions to restaurants/taxi service in the area etc. Seemed to be a "safe" area and we felt secure in hotel. There is a great local restaurant down the street (4 minute walk) called "Maxi". Recommended by front desk and excellent Spanish regional food/seafood/local wines. The mall close by (across street and towards airport) has more (chain type) restaurants/local pizza etc. We would stay here again. Good access (taxi) to cruise ships etc.
""Beware of Stealing chambermaid""
"Beware of Stealing chambermaid" Checked in on the 19th of April, given a double bed instead of a king or queen size bed despite booking directly through their website. Was told, will change the room the next day 20th of April to Queen size bed, came 20th of April in the morning, asked them to change the room before going out for sightseeing but front desk said "don't worry once you come back from Barcelona you can also change" back from Barca town, Front desk said there is no available queen or king size bed ... Had to make noise and voila! there two rooms available I can even choose 5th or 1st floor. Choose Room 107, King Size Bed. We decided to watch a Football match and there was a match between FC Espanya vs Atlico Madrid for the 22nd of April Saturday and we bought a 60 Euro each ticket through an agent in La Ramblas total 2 tickets 120 Euros. We bought the tickets on Thursday the 20th of April, we had a good time in town and went back to the hotel tired and late. The next day - Friday 21st of April 2017, we had a number of things planned out and I made the BIGGEST MISTAKE OF REMOVING THE TICKETS FROM MY SMALL PURSE TO THE WRITING TABLE BESIDE THE TV IN AC HOTEL SOM and gueaa what'' when we came back that evening the room is clean and our tickets GONE. We really wanted to watch that game so, Saturday the 22nd of April - first thing in the morning we decided to head to La Ramblas to buy a new set of tickets but before heading out of the Hotel I wrote a note and placed it exactly where the tickets were stolen from, it says "I KNOW YOU STOLE OUR TICKETS, STOP STEALING" I ALSO WROTE IT IN SPANISH TOO and guess what'''' Our room is clean and the note gone too! I did'nt want to make so much fuss but I know that I have to let the Front desk know because I know they can't act on something they don't know. The Lady in the Reception said, It's so unlikely that it's their staff because she has worked in AC HOTEL SOM for 4 years and no one has lost anything and their staff does'nt simply throw things even an empty water bottle in the table.. That's actually NOT true the mear fact that cleaner took the paper with the note is a testament that the staff does move and tale things. So, my advice to you is - If you can find another property to stay, the furnitures and fixtures here are surprisingly below standard for a Marriot run property, It's far from the City Centre and YOUR THINGS ARE NOT SAFE. Good Luck and I hope you learn something from my experience.
Receiptinst are very helpful and they are English speaking and help for right guidance. Staff are friendly and hotel is very clean. Every day they changed the stuffs and cleaned the room. Breakfast is fantastic.
"Good hotel for a short stay"
We stayed at the Marriott AC Som in Barcelona for only 3 nights, but it served it's purpose. Nothing glamorous or fancy by any means, but I think that's the AC brand. They have a small restaurant, and bar area. The staff at the hotel were very nice though, spoke English & Spanish. We got into Barcelona and to the hotel very early in the morning, and while they couldn't accommodate us right away, they were able to do so by 10:30-11, which was great. We're the type to always take the metro/subway when we can, and the walk to their metro was relatively simple, just a 3-5 min walk to the Ildefons Cerda stop. There's also a mall a block away with a shopping center if you need to purchase anything like that. The room itself was pretty nice, definitely very spacious. All the amenities you would need while staying over are provided. The bed is a little on the hard side, but the sheets/comforters are nice. The walls are a bit thin, as you can hear into other rooms if it gets too loud, but that wasn't too much of a problem for us. Overall, a great stay for us and couldn't beat the rate.
