"Great Location and Great Service"
The room was well appointed with a nice interior view from the window. The room size was enormous for a European hotel. The bathroom had a full enclosed shower and a full tub. The building is full of old world charm This was the best room for our entire three week vacation. There was a Live Spanish Guitar event one evening in the bar/restaurant that was entertaining and fun. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The location of the hotel was not far from the Prado and across the street from the Retiro park.
"Perfect location and Excellent Staffs!"
Stayed there for 4 nights with my family of three. The location of the hotel can't be beat. It is a street across from the Retiro park, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant walk each morning/evening. My wife works in hospitality industry and she was impressed with interior and how it feels. Very high ceiling and well appointed furnitures/deco. We stayed at junior suite, so there was plenty of space in our room. I've read some negative reviews and frankly, we didn't face any of it. There is no concierge desk but front desk staffs were very kind and responded quite efficiently to our requests for recommendation and reservations. Just ask, they will find you nice restaurants and will make a reservation for you. One that they reserved for us at our last night in Madrid was located in very quite neighborhood, outside of usual tourist sites, still within 10-15 walk from hotel. We really enjoyed the dining there. I am sure other 5-star hotels offer comparable services but the experience at this hotel was beyond my expectation and mostly because of its excellent staffs, not just front desk but also at dining area. Highly recommend!
Great location across from the park and close to the Prado Museum. Decent breakfast. The front desk staff is very helpful and accommodating. We arrived early and were able to get a room. Would stay again.
"Great location. Ok staff. Expensive. "
We booked this hotel because it was central to all the sites in Madrid and we had some Marriott point we could use to offset some of the cost. The location was perfect and the room was larger than I thought it would be. We could walk or take the metro to every site we wanted to see. Tons of great places to eat close by. We are Marriott rewards member so we have stayed at quite a few hotels over the years and this one was just ok. The staff was not as friendly as I would have preferred. The restaurant was pretty expensive as well.
"AWFUL HOTEL WITH STINGY AND RUDE FRONT DESK"
HORRIBLE, OLD, STINGY HOTEL!! We were offered free continental breakfast, since we are Marriott Gold Members. However, what they mean by continental breakfast is simply a small glass of orange juice, a few bite sized pastries, and a small, small kiddie sized box of cereal. When you try to ask for more food (which is reasonable, as Marriott Gold Members should be entitled to access to lounge service -- aka unlimited food), the waiters belittle you and and your entire family while upgrading your meal (12 euro charge) WITHOUT your consent!! Awful!! As Gold Marriott Members, we are guaranteed 3-4PM checkout, however, they refused to give us late checkout. The front desk workers are awful and unprofessional. They are intolerant of other viewpoints and (wrongfully) ACCUSE the customers of lying. I have stayed in many, many hotels across the world, and I have never been treated so poorly by the front desk workers. I suggest that you do not book this hotel, and if you have already booked it, change your reservation immediately!!!
