"My favorite hotel in the world"
This hotel is the ultimate goal for any member of the SPG family. It includes 2 activities per day at no charge and all the food!! The food is amazing, breakfast filet mignon with dates camel milk' Yes they serve it! The best arab food too! The activities are fun and unique. The location is not far from Dubai but you feel like you are in a very remote location in the desert. This hotel is a must do and once-in-a-lifetime experience! As and spg platinum member there is no benefit to this hotel. BUT it is actually not a bad thing because they treat ALL guest like if they were Platinum 100 members! All rooms are suites, and all the food is included.
"Perfect place to be"
We stayed 4 nights at the Al Maha. One of the best stays we ever had in the last 20 years. Best location, best service (highly professional, but never too much), high level of awareness and very natural behaviour of staff. We would like to thank the whole staff for making our stay unforgettable. Thanks to Arne und Mira for their wonderful management of the hotel. We will definitively come back.
"5 Star all the way "
We are spg platinum and have stayed in amazing places all over the world . It has the same feel as an Explora lodge in Chili , where you integrate with nature . Activities of your choice throughout the day are included with the stay . This resort is ultimum peace , hospitality tranquility ,class . The people and their attitude are exceptional . The food is top quality , with so many choices . I cannot find the right superlative to define this outstanding luxury resort .
"Skip Dubai, Come Here!"
Location: It's about 1 hr outside Dubai with a 15 minute drive down a long sandy/dirt road. That's what makes this place magical. Rooms: Every room is a large suite, even the smallest. Some of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. Club Access: N/A, its all inclusive. Cleanliness: Pristine. SPG Platinum Recognition: Given the exact room we wanted. Treated perfectly. Service: 5 Star. The Breakfast: All the food is out of this world, and with 3 meals a day, you will be extremely well fed. For an all-inclusive, this is anything but "all-inclusive" food. It is extremely high quality (think high-end steak and lobster). Final Notes: This place is magical. If you have the means, this is one of the best properties in the world. It is a unique place in the desert where you will have gazelles and oryx hanging out by your room. The activities are all great. One day is too short, three might be too long depending on your style.
"Great place for relaxation"
Second visit, 12 years later and still going strong. Amazing tents with true privacy and reasonably sized pools (not those ‘plunge pools’). Amazing landscape, great service and stunning food! The rooms have been ‘updated’ but that refers only to the pool deck which has been redone, the rest is more or less as is, so don’t come with expectations that the rooms will be brand new (which wouldn’t fit the place anyway). Can only recommend this place. If you compare it to the other desert options, I would say it differs as follows: Al Wadi (Ritz Carlton, Former Banyan Tree): Kind of similar, but smaller pools (depending on category though) Bab Al Shams: Feels less private more like an arab village, nice large community pool, oriented a bit more towards families Qasr Al Sarab: The dunes are bigger and it feels more like a true desert. But the resort is much larger and less private and the drive is substantial
