"They moved us to their sister hotel - very unimpressed with this hotel"
We travelled as a married couple and stayed for one night from the 6-7th May 2017. This was a birthday surprise from my husband. On arrival, the hotel appeared to be in a good location, with Venice only 15 minutes away on the bus (the bus stop is opposite the hotel). You can get the 4L straight into venice, and buy the tickets at the hotel reception (3 euros each return). Additionally, there are two large supermarkets next door to the hotel too. We arrived before the check in time, and were told we could leave our baggage in the storage room for when we returned and checked in later that evening. We confirmed our reservation at that time. However, later when we returned that evening, we checked in properly and were suddenly told that we would be staying in the hotel next door. We said that we booked this hotel and not the one next door, and we looked at this hotel online and wanted to stay where we had booked and had already paid for. We were told that our room was in their sister hotel next door (Hotel Delfino), and although it's in another building and has a different hotel name, we were told that it was 'like for like' and that it is part of their company. The possibility of being relocated to another hotel was not made clear or ever mentioned earlier in the day when we first dropped our baggage off, or when we booked online. We were very unimpressed, however it was late at night so we eventually went next door. The staff did not appear to be phased or bothered by our disappointment, and would not even offer complementary breakfast as compensation. We were greeted with an unhelpful receptionist upon checking in at the hotel Delfino reception. We were told that there would be water in our room, in which on arrival the mini fridge was old and turned off, and completely empty. It was late at night and the supermarkets were shut, so we went back to reception to request to buy some bottles of water there. We were told to go to floor A, where we could get water at the bar / restaurant. However, when we went there, the bar and restaurant were completely shut and closed down with no staff around. The lights were out in the restaurant itself too. We had to make do without water for the night, which is not what you expect when you've paid for a nice hotel. The hotel lobby was very basic compared to the Ambascatori lobby, and the corridors leading to the bedrooms were also tired. The room itself was ok and the bathroom was modern and nice. However, a few things let it down: plug sockets were becoming unattached from the walls and were not working properly, the wifi was intermittent, the hair dryer cut out after 10 seconds of use and would not turn on again for at least another few minutes, the walls of the bedrooms were very thin and we could hear people talking and moving around loudly in the bedrooms next door and in the bedroom above us!! We had such an interrupted nights sleep due to the noise levels. We were on the 6th floor, and could hear groups of people chatting loudly outside of the hotel on the ground floor! Overall, we were left really disappointed and based on our experience we would not recommend the hotel to others. The best thing about the hotel was the location.
Lovely stay, very small room but was nice all the same. Bus to the centre of Venice was directly across the road and was only on it for less than 20 minutes. You can buy tickets at the hotel. Nice staff and very clean
"Set your sights low in order not to be disappointed"
This was my pick based on information I gleaned from various sources. I don't blame my travel agent at all, she can only offer me advice and counsel, the rest is my decision. I normally only choose 4 star hotels, not for any reason than I have a mobility disability and typically 4 star hotels cater better for it. The funny thing is from a disability point of view, this is fine, but that is about where it ends. The first surprise was no provided breakfast, considering we always stay at places which have provided breakfasts and it is in our itinerary, this is a disappointment. At the time of writing we are trying to sort this out through our agent. The hotel is well presented and clean initially in the foyer area. However, when we stepped out of the lift on floor 5, we were greeted with exposed ceiling work, that is nothing to hide the multitude of pipes in the ceiling. Then we opened the door to our room (515) and thought we were in a surgery given its stark white and very basic presentation. It is a very basic room to say the least. I can handle that fine, it is after all just a place to stay and sleep, though something that is inviting would certainly be appreciated. There is no enclosed cupboard, it is simply a rail hanging from a board mounted on the wall. No side tables except for the top of the minibar fridge on one side and the additional single bed on the other. Considering I need a side table to place medical apparatus on for sleeping (CPAP) a side table would have been nice, even better a working power point. Just as well I always pack an extension lead for such an occasion. The single bed made do as both a side table and a place for us to open the cases since floor space was at a premium. The bathroom was clean and well presented, though it would be nice to have tissues provided. The biggest issue I have with the hotel is the limited internet facilities. Don't get me wrong you have internet, and it is actually fairly fast compared to other paces I have stayed at, BUT only for one hour at a time though. AND you must know your Facebook account details or for that matter have an account to use it. I pity the poor person who does not have one because they cannot sign up for one in order to get the internet. And then when you do sign in it wants you to like the hotel page etc, which I refuse to do considering the limitations being imposed. Overall, if you do not expect much you will not be disappointed. If you are used to 4 star accommodation, move on, this is nnot the pace for you.
"Very bad and possibly against the law"
I booked this hotel through TRIVAGO with a good price BUT!! When I arrived to the hotel checking they told me that I was book in the hotel next door (the hotel Delfino) SURPRISED!! I ask for an explanation and they told me that it was the same stablishment!! Two hotels with different names. When I complained to the manager, the manager told me that it was like that and that's it. I complaint also to TRIVAGO and they offer to cancel the booking and give me a refund! Not very good when you are already at the place. The hotel I stayed was the equivalent of a two star hotel when I should have a four star hotel. The staff was not helpful. They put all sort of excuses before I manage to speak to the manager. The room was old and damage. To use the wifi they ask yo to log with your Facebook account . The walls where dirty and damage. Well what I can say more. A dreadful experience. I won't recommend the AMBASSTORY HOTEL. Also they ask you to pay cash for the parking and tax they don't want credit or debit cards. Good luck if you want to stay in this hotel.
1.Booking.com Lie us at the price. Booking.com said it had a 33% discount, but I paid more than if I booked directly at the hotel. If we booked directly at the hotel, the price for a double bed with an extra bed was 332 euros for 4 nights. Do you know how much it cost in the end' 600 euros ..... without the bill !!!!! When we arrived at the hotel they asked us for the card and took us 600 euros. 2.Lie with the size of the room -22 square meter, we asked for a higher double just for more space. The rom had no more than 3 x 4.5 m. 3. Lie vith the sound isolation-All the neighbors' noises are heard. 4. Lie with the wi-fi free-Is free if you sign in with your facebook account, go wrong, disconnect you, put you in their ads with 2 hotels. If you want good internet you have to pay 3 euro a day. 5. Lie with the minibar-the minibar is empty. And we have not emptied him. 6.Lie with breakfast- A very poor breakfast!!!! Good to eat ... just butter and jam. I have not seen a vegetable or a fruit. ..... I asked for decaffeinated coffee 3 days in a row, they did not give me, they told me to go down to the bar. Unpleasant experience, what to say....My recommendation, bypass this hotel and check when booking with Booking.com.
