"Pretty hotel but needs some improvements"
This hotel is lovely but needs some improvements. We were visiting over New Year's and it was very warm. Our air conditioner in our room kept going on and off (fuses were being blown)and there was no air on in the hallways or main area. The young man handling the luggage was delightful and although he couldn't speak English we were able to communicate just fine. He helped us open the door between our sons' room and ours and gave us a map showing the area. The help at the main desk was not friendly or helpful. We felt that we were imposing on them to receive help on transportation and restaurant reservations. We also needed to receive some smaller Argentine pesos so we could tip various individuals and no one in the hotel could help us. The rooms were clean and spacious with a lovely view overlooking the pool and views to Paraguay and Brazil. The breakfast was a very nice buffet with plenty to eat. Work needs to be done on air conditioning and service.
Friendly staff, the moment we arrive reception was very helpful and got us to our room as quickly as possible. The room was incredibly large and had a great view of the 3 borders. The food was excellent, staff efficient, has a lovely nice pool to relax in the afternoon after seeing the falls. If I had to knit pick, no tissues, but it seems nowhere in South America has that. Highly recommended.
"Grest views but loud and run down"
Amerian Portal Hotel has a great loaction and great views. But, the room we got had an AC that did not work the first night (and when you are only staying for two nights it really makes a difference). After the third report about the AC it was fixed. Overall the staff was very uneven, with great service in the main restaurant and good english too it went downwards to staff in the pool bar that did ot work at all, no english, messing up our orders and a partly rude attitude among the reception staff. Finnally the room had no/very poor sound isolation.
"Great hotel for visiting the falls"
Located on the edge of the town, just 15 mins walk to shops etc. Lovely pools and gardens with gorgeous views to Paraguay and Brazil. The bus to get to the falls was right outside the hotel which was marvellously convenient. There are lots of comfy sitting areas and the decor is very attractive. The meals in the restaurant were really excellent and good value for a 4* Hotel. Drinks were also very reasonably priced. I would strongly recommend this hotel with a warning to book a room facing the pool not the front of the hotel. Our room was lovely, spacious and modern but at the front of the building and close to the kitchen extractors which were rather noisy. When checking out be sure to check you haven’t been charged the 21% vat that foreign visitors are exempt. We saw a warning of this on Tripadvisor so were careful to check and sure enough we needed to ask for it to be removed. I would definitely return to this hotel.
"Not that good"
Out of my 2 week Patagonia trip with Iguazu, this was my worst hotel. I have to give some credit to the Facilities because they were decent but the rooms and their food need a lot of work. I do t recommend this this place if you are picky about room quality and cleanliness.
