"Good but not a 5 stars hotel "
I had a few mishaps when I got to the hotel. They gave me two single beds instead of the king bed I requested and it took a couple of hours to resolve the issue. But the issue was resolved and we were given a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolates as an apology which was nice. The hotel view is fantastic and the swimming pools are pretty good but if you're looking for a luxurious 5 star hotel this is not it. The rooms are run down, the aircon is loud, we had trouble opening our balcony door, the bathroom has a funny smell and not in a good way and the wifi doesn't work for the most part. It didn't work in our room at all. On the bright side the room has a smart TV and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is okay, nothing out of this world but it has the essentials. We ordered a couple of cocktails when we were in the swimming pool area and as to be expected they cost double than what they cost across the street and they're half as good. It's not the best hotel I've been to but there's definitely far worse out there. I don't know if it's worth what we paid but Iguazu is a beautiful place and the waterfalls made up for the trip.
"OK but annoying"
Stayed here for a conference, which is the only reason I'd spend so much money on a hotel. The common space and pool are nice, but the rooms are very small, the twin beds extremely narrow, and the service barely friendly. Also, tons of rules such as not being able to bring any food or drink into the hotel. Seems that they depend on all the extra amenities like room service to make a profit. So, it's a nice enough place if you don't mind dealing with all the rules and expense.
"Amerian Portal del Iguazu"
Overall, this hotel was ok. Just ok. I don't speak Spanish, just English and Portuguese (mais ou menos). But I could start with, "I don't speak Spanish, English ou Portuguese'" in Spanish, sort of and the staff were GREAT at helping out. The hotel has a great pool area, with a really nice view of the "Fronteira Triplice", the three countries meeting place, plus the different pools are nice, with a spa spilling into a little indoor pool, and two nice outdoor pools, one sort of hidden below the other. The room was one of the problems. The curtains didn't close right, not overlapping the way they should, and the door to the balcony was difficult to open, and the same to lock closed. The beds were not too comfortable, but they were ok. The bathroom, the shower was a tub/shower, but with only half the plexiglass on the side, so it did splash out a bit. And the drain was kind of concave up, an area around the drain, so it was uncomfortable to stand there. The worst part was the Wifi. Which, I went there for vacation, so I didn't really care about the Wifi. But the other people there, my wife and all, were there for a meeting. A great place for a meeting, but with HORRIBLE Wifi, it can kind of upset those people wanting to share information around on the web. Though if you are just there for the Iguacu Falls and the views, it was great!! The food was good too, a decent price for Lunch and Dinner, and Breakfast was great! So, I probably would think about staying here again, but I would definitely search around a bit, just to see what other options were nearby!
"Great location - beautiful hotel"
I stayed at the Amerian for about 1 week during a Congress in August 2017. The hotel is quite stunning, with beautiful pool, interior areas, and rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Not far from Iguazu National Park. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.
"A very nice place"
I found the Amerian to be very clean, comfortable, and convenient. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is good. The business and meeting facilities are also very good. The park around the corner is a nice place to spend some time, especially in the evenings. Shopping and banking are an easy walk, and buses and taxis are close by to take you to Iguazu National Park (highly recommended) or other locations. For those that are environmentally conscious, the Amerian is a member of the Rainforest Alliance, and they have taken a lot of steps you reduce energy and water usage, as well as raising awareness of biodiversity conservation.
