"One night stay for concert"
Good location but paid £240 for one night in superior double room - quite small room and not worth the money. Clean but small. £17 to park car and £30 for a couple to have breakfast. Just not good value (but supply & demand I guess'). With a bit more research, I suspect I could have got something as good if not better for less £. Overall: good location, clean but small room. Feeling shortchanged from the experience.
"Dirty everywhere with appaling shower floor."
Badly cleaned rooms, dust everywhere; ingrained dirt on window sills and other woodwork; I moved the bed slightly and the carpet underneath looked as it hadn't been hoovered for months; smeared mirrors; But the worst was the shower floor which was in a terrible condition. It had lots of missing grout and the grout that was there was filthy with black mould as was the sealant. I see from other reviews that this seems to be common throughout the hotel. The management should get a grip. Do they not check rooms' The only replies on this site from the general manager are stock responses. This hotel with it's dull lighting and attempt at modern décor seems to be trying to be a boutique hotel when it doesn't even reach the standard of a Travelodge (no disrespect to Travelodge). I find nothing to commend this hotel. Definitely not a 4star hotel.

"Great on all fronts"
Just returned from a quick one night stay with the wife and have to say this hotel is a gem. It's on the doorstep of Waverley station which was ideal for us and is easy walking access to both the old town and new. We stayed in a superior room on the 8th floor and we were really impressed by the large living room, bathroom and bedroom and with everything you need and nice mod cons. We didn't use all of the facilities but what we did see looked great. What particularly struck us were the staff on the front desk. Probably the most professional, swiftest and non hassle check in and check out we've experienced anywhere. If the rest of the staff are as good as the front desk staff then I can understand why the place is popular. Would stay again 100% when visiting in the future.
"Fantastic All Around"
My husband and I recently stayed at Apex Waterloo for a quick weekend break. As far as location goes, this hotel is ideal for seeing the sites ofScotland's beautiful capital city. Upon our arrival we were greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff and was able to leave our bags to be taken to the room while we went off exploring. We were pleasantly surprised when we returned in the evening to find that our room had been upgraded which was especially lovely as it was our anniversary. The room was beautiful and quiet even though it overlooked a main road. There was a lovely pool, sauna and steam room which was a slice of heaven after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. There is an onsite spa that offers a wide range of treatments. While we did not have any treatments on this trip, I have used them on multiple occasions and they are bliss! After a wonderful nights sleep we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and speedy checkout. Will most definitely be staying here again!
