"Paradise in a historic heatwave."
Love this hotel, staff and food/wine. The history is as rich as the early guests back in the day. Love to dine at Wrights and the Fathers Day brunch. We loved evening walks and swim in the Catalina pool.l
"Not a good location for a conference"
While the resort is beautiful and the rooms are decent, we had several negative experiences here. Outlets in our room did not work, the pillows were terrible and as a conference attendee, we were charged for self parking WHEN WE DID NOT HAVE A CAR THERE! When I contacted the billing office, I was informed that this was part of the event contract. So all conference attendees were charged $13.03 each day for parking, when they were not using a parking space. So Biltmore got paid double for those spaces being used when someone else used the space. In addition, the FedEx copy center at the Biltmore charge an exorbitant fee for copies, and the prices are not posted. If you need copies, be sure to get a quote BEFORE they make them. Otherwise you may have a heart attack when you go to pick them up. I will not visit this hotel again and have recommended that the organization that hosted my conference not use it again.
"Annual AZ Vacay"
My husband and I were married at The Biltmore and it has always had special meaning to us. As a staple resort of the Phonecian lifestyle it lives up to it's hype. If you are traveling with as a family with smaller kids I would suggest the Villa Suites (full kitchen) and make sure you request the ground floor either on the golf course (Golf View Villa Suites) or the ground floor next to the Catalina Pool. If you can stand the heat June and July are the best months to book for the best rates. The pools make it worth it.
My review is always based on what was expected based on price paid/level of hotel. I don't understand people complaining about $ of Breakfast vs what they would pay outside of the hotel. It will always be more $ at luxury hotel for less than any brunch place 10 mins away. ALWAYS!! My trip took place June 10th to June 12th with rest of my family. Self Parking from Hotel is little bit far from room, but manageable. I really wish my late checkout was granted, but due to heavy booking next day it was denied. Few hours would've been great. But overall it was a great stay. Summer Inclusive promotion is a great promo. It includes parking and resort fee and about $250 worth of food(I was given 20% coupon to make this deal even better due to HHonor status) When I was looking at this hotel, base room with parking and resort fee was about $250, so it made sense to book with summer inclusive rate for about $300 per night with all these things included. Due to this reason, you are pretty much limiting yourself to hotel grounds for dining. Which was fine, because our plan was to do nothing. On site dining also had $10 kids meal. More than reasonable at this type of hotel. Txt Concierge service was great. I've asked random questions at any time and it was always answered. Valet/Front Desk/Waiters/Waitress all provided services you would've expected. Hiking trail is about 10 mins away back of the hotel as well. Coming from East Coast, my kids were up at 4 AM, so we took advantage of it at 5 AM hiking prior to breakfast. Sat, they had DJ playing music and Sun, they had a guitar vocal during our stay. You decide if that's your cup of tea. Thank you for the great stay.
"Skip breakfast. Get a cabana"
While the lunch was decent and the dinner was superb, don't bother with the breakfast. The buffet wasn't available the days we were there, I can only hope they are better than the menu fare. Meats were greasy, bacon was burnt, fruit was some flavorless hard melons and sour oranges and pineapple. Toast and bagels came cold with butter too hard to spread. My friend had the smoked salmon and bagel which she said was good and very generous with the salmon, but I was left very unimpressed. A few days later we ordered a fruit bowl from a little cafe in Orange, Ca that was three times the size with tons of berries, sweet melon, perfectly ripe banana slices, and really tasty fresh pineapple. It cost $2 less than the tasteless stuff thrown in a soup bowl at the Biltmore, and was presented like it was to me photographed for a magazine.
