"Not well managed hotel"
We stayed for 2 nights as we arrived in Amsterdam from the river cruise. The air con in the room was not working and the technician told us he cannot do anything about it. After much debate, the receptionist agreed to change our room after seeking the manager approval. Also there was insufficient face tissue paper in the toilet - just left one piece! In the new room, we found one of the power plug beside the bed was not usable and the liquid bath soap was insufficient for the last day of use. Also we ordered fried eggs for breakfast but after waiting for a long time, the waitress told us that the kitchen has only one staff and she is too busy to fried for us. There is also no porter around to help us with our luggage.
"Very hot room"
The air conditioner was non-existent even after complaining the room was very hot a technician came up and was like that is the coldest the room gets. I was unforgettable for 3 nights stay here. The room was nice looking and shower pretty like the picture but otherwise uncountable with no sleep
"Misleading and dirty"
Went for a weekend away last week. As we got to there to check in I tried to have some of the complimentary water by the reception desk. There were no clean glasses and there was only one person to check us in. We were given a twin room though we booked a double room. Called reception 4 times while in our room with no answer, had to go down to reception and was told there was no double rooms left and that they could upgrade us to a nicer room if we pay €29 per night(Whig would I do that) I asked to speak to the manager and was told to wait in the lobby waited for 10 minutes then the manager finally came he ignored me completely like I hadn't been waiting 10 minutes to talk to him.the reception staff signaled him that I was waiting for him and he still didn't come to speak to me he walked right past me and and 5 minutes later the reception guy then told me they "manages to move things round and found me a double room" we moved to that room and it was a double room, room was so dusty and the bed sheets had stains on them. House keeping don't even change the sheet regularly. All in all the rooms are not as they appear in the pictures and the staff not good customer service at all. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
"Beautiful hotel "
Just back from a 4 night stay at Dutch Design with my boyfriend. I have very little bad things to say about it as we thoroughly enjoyed our time here! Reading previous reviews, we were aware that the hotel was a little outside the city but this didn't bother us! It's actually very well situated, with the nearest tram less than a 10 minute walk away. The area is really suburban and it's nice to come back to that after the hustle and bustle of the city. Tram number 2 from lousweg will take you to all the major spots between 15-25 mins depending on where you're going. We purchased our 96hr travel pass from reception which was super convenient. The hotel is really close to the airport too. On arrival we got the number 69 bus outside at platform B15 and got off at anterpenbawn which is like a ten min walk from the hotel. This was much cheaper than getting a taxi and it only took 10/15 mins. The latest tram runs until midnight I think, but if you wanted to stay in the city later you can get a night bus that goes every hour from like 1am - 6am and stops around about 8 mins from the hotel. There are leaflets available with all travel info at reception. The hotel itself was just lovely. We had such a relaxing time. The beds and pillows were some of the comfiest I've stayed in! We loved that there was two showers in the bathroom! One separate shower, and one over the bath. The heated floors were also a welcome addition. They also included spare toothbrushes and toothpaste incase you forgot yours. The room was bright, modern and airy. It comes stocked with a complimentary mini fridge with some Heineken, water, ice tea and other treats. There's an ironing board, iron, hairdryer, TV as well as tea, cups and a coffee machine The outside terraced seating area overlooking the pond is perhaps one of the nicest things about the hotel. We sat out a few evenings with a glass of wine in the sunshine. The only downside I can think of is breakfast is quite expensive. I think €19.75 pp each day is a bit much. We decided against this and instead we got many of the things included in the hotel breakfast at the local supermarket (10-15 min walk from the hotel). Each morning we'd go there for some fruit, yoghurt orange juice and fresh pastries at half the cost. There's also a bakery beside it too. We didn't have dinner there either so I can't comment on that. Overall we had an absolutely lovely stay. The hotel has such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and we would definitely return!
We've stayed at this hotel due to the good reviews. It's situated in a quiet business district but transport to the city centre is also convenient. The beds were confortable, overall clean, however, the security needs to be improved. We slept in one day, at about 1pm, our doorbell rang once, and the housekeeper attempted to open the door. At the time, both myself and my husband were still asleep. Had i not locked the door, he/she wouldve walked right in. Mind you, the "do not disturb" sign was clearly displayed at the door. Reception staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Overall, a pleasurable stay.
