"Nice hotel .... but"
Nice modern hotel outside city center but only 5 minutes walk to two metro stations (exceptional metro service in Madrid by the way!) - with 10 minutes only to get to city center. Hotel is very easy and quick to get to from the airport via metro. Line 8, then line 9 and get off at Sainz de Baranda stop. Nice modern rooms. However, very very poor flooring acoustics. We stayed four nights and every night around midnight we were awaken by the room above us with the guests walking around their room for about one hour in their shoes/high heels. The floors are hardwood with no carpeting to absord the sound. I complained to the front desk on 3 separate occasions but nothing was done about it. On the last night, I even called the front desk at midnight. So, if you want to sleep, ask for the top floor of the hotel. Full breakfast is available at 11,5 € - a bit expensive but it is worth it. They could make available a short order cook to cook eggs instead of the ready-made “lukewarm” eggs available in the self-service trays. Short order cooks at breakfast are usually available in most large hotels I have stayed in and greatly appreciated - nothing worse than cold eggs! I was also pleased to receive service in French at the front desk from Mr. Ousmane - Merci! All things considered, this is a great hotel to consider for your stay in this beautiful city. Just ask for a room on the top floor.
"Nice size for europe"
Was in this hotel as part of a Trafalgar tour and was surprised at the size of the room having stayed at other hotels in Europe. Spacious to north american standards with a fully renovated bathroom. Bed needs a serious upgrade as it felt like a sofa bed very thin mattress. The hotel staff were superb and the garden area and artworks were lovely. Very close walk to Retiro Gardens and Prado Museum. Lovely little convenience store across from hotel too so bought items to fill our room fridge nightly. Morning breakfast was decent size and taste. Was hoping for more spanish style foods and less american breakfast style but understand it probably suits most clients.
Good hotel with two entrances, so take care not to be lost. The lift is taking its time to move from one floor to another, maybe it could be faster. Tonight would be the second time to be there, on the first one the hotel was fully booked and there were too many people on the breakfast time, but waiters were really fast trying to do their best for not being a mess. Let's see, I trust it would be better than good!
"Spoiled by the breakfasts"
A modern 4 star hotel that welcomed us warmly and in good English. This is a twin hotel comprising two blocks with similar entrances. This can be confusing when coming back to the hotel from different directions. Our bedroom was clean and of reasonable size. The bed was firm but supportive and bathroom was of a good size. We did not use the onsite restaurant but used instead the Ibiza, a very handy bar/cafe which served good sized portions of 'snack foods.' We can recommend the Spaghetti Bolognese. A taxi stand is virtually at the door and €8-10 will take you to the Prada or Reina Sophia museums. A nearby bus stop to the same places costs €3.50. There are plenty of good local places to lunch or snack, and a chemist, in the immediate vicinity. Breakfast was disappointing lacking both in volume and hot items not being replaced quickly or not at all. Sadly, this occurred on each of our three breakfasts and let the hotel down.
"Really nice hotel for business meetings"
I'm here for a business meeting with colleagues and the hotel is relatively nice. Food - lunch is great, lots of variety, Vegan friendly as well! Breakfast - less. Rooms - I was in the 10th floor, the view to the city was really nice, but comparing to an equivalent hotel in Romania, for example, the windows are small. Shower - maybe it's only my room, but in general the maintenance is not really good. You could see that cleaning crew are doing fine work - but if the plumber is not blocking leaks and some of walls are not repainted - they have no chance in covering it. Cleaning - fantastic. No complaints. Business halls - good for up to 50 people. Nice and cozy. Coffee breaks have great variety of snacks. Location - 12 minutes from the airport (30€ price) There are fast foods and nice bars in 5 min walking distance. * look for a large historical garden if you like sports. Many people are there. Enjoy !
