This is the second time I've been to the Beach Palace. Everything was perfection. The level of service - from the front desk to the spa - was beyond expectations. Great location too; close to downtown Cancun and the airport, and the Beach is fabulous. Looking forward to returning in the future.
We stayed at the Beach Palace last week. From the moment we arrived we were beyond impressed with the services. The buffet always had choice, and Diegoo and Alfredo were amazing. Gabriella the morning chef was incredible. Bryan in the a la carte steak restaurant was a joy. We cannot say enough about the entertainment team. Especially Damian and Gustavo who went above and beyond, always ensuring that our teenage daughter was included and having fun. The rooms are huge, clean, and very warm and inviting. We used our resort credits for massages, which were very relaxing and enjoyable. The pools, ocean, and activity area is clean, and beautiful. We left feeling sad because we will miss the staff. They know your name after the first day, and treat you like royalty. We will be back and will suggest this resort to friends and family.
The bad... We had purchased in advance two rooms (lagoon for our adult kids and beach view for us). In the reservation instructions, we requested that the rooms be close to one another. When we checked in, Jose Luis first offered us two rooms on two different floors. He said it was hard to get two rooms nearby because one was a lagoon view and the other beach view (which is odd since every beach view rooms had a lagoon view room directly across from it). He offered, for a $400 upgrade, we could be on the same floor. We declined the $400 upgrade, and I said we would just make it work. Once we declined the upgrade, he then provided us two rooms across the hall from one another on the same floor (2nd). When we went to check in, the rooms were beautiful but they smelled of something terrible (musty). (I had read this in other reviews too). We inquired about changing to another room. They moved us to the 3rd floor, which smelled too. Then we switched to the 4th floor which was good. The hotel was very low capacity, we were able to get rooms across the hall from one another on 3 different floors (2nd, 3rd, and 4th). This meant the check-in upgrade ($400) was a scam! I would recommend not staying on the 1st or 2nd floor due to a strong odor. Changing rooms took several hours of our first day, and left a bad feeling about the resort, not very relaxing. The $1500 resort credits cost you a 16% fee to use. They also only have a handful of options. We ended up booking some through another company for less money. We would have liked more varied entertainment during the day (there was very little games or trivia). Unless you were interested in pool yoga or volleyball, there was not much going on. The pool on the first several days was FREEZING. It was not possible to get in. About mid-week they started heating the pool, and people could finally enjoy it. This was disappointing, since the pool is a major reason why you go. FYI...At Moon Palace some pools were heated and others not. The good… The resort is beautiful! The service was pretty good. The food was very good. My boys got their hair cut using spa points. With the 16% fee, they were only $6! They looked great too. There was not too much pressure to listen to a time share spiel. Though they did wake us up on our first morning (BEFORE 9am) to invite us come and “learn about resort credits.” We loved the option to be able to stop in, eat, and use the facilities at other Palace resorts. There is a free shuttle from Beach Palace to Moon Palace at 11am. We went for the day, and choose to stay beyond the return shuttle time (5:00pm) so we could eat dinner there. Glad we did. We ate at the Italian place at Moon Palace, which ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. The taxi for four to return to Beach Palace was only $26, definitely worth it. We also took a bus ($1 pp each way) to Sun Palace and ate dinner at the steak place, which was good. By chance, the catamaran excursion we took dropped us off right next to the Isla Mujeres Palace, so we got a drink from there, and sat by the pool. We rented a golf cart to tour around on Isla Mujeres. I would highly recommend this. We only had a golf cart rental for an hour since it was part of the catamaran tour, which felt rushed. If I were going to go back, I would book the Isla Mujeres excursion using the credits and rented the golf cart for the day. Overall it was a good vacation. We booked through Costco which gave us the flights for free, and was cheaper.
"Why become a Palace Resort member'"
My wife and I just returned from our visit to Beach Palace 1/5/18 - 1/12/18. We are long time Palace Resorts members and have visited Cancun many times. This is our 4th year in a row at Beach Palace. We made our reservations for this trip all the way back to June 25th of 2017. Upon making our reservation we requested an ocean view room and was told by Andreas it would be no problem. Furthermore at this time we paid Palace resort in full for this upcoming vacation and they had our money for over 6 months. Well wouldn't you know it upon our arrival last week we were told that we requested a lagoon view''' This could not be further from the truth. So how did Palace Resorts respond to our situation' They offered us a room upsell for yet an additional $225. After paying the "upsell" when we were originally told it was no problem, we found out that the hotel was at %50 or less off occupancy. Furthermore when talking with many other non-member couples staying their during the week that they in fact had the nice ocean view rooms without the upsell charge''' Why would a resort treat a long time member that way, upsell them to a room that was probably available because of the lower occupancy and give a non-member a better room for a lower rate. My thoughts are that is probably better to not go to their presentation and become a member and give Palace Resorts thousands of dollars. I guess its obvious that I am an unhappy long time Palace Resort member. I must however praise some of the staff that went above and beyond during our stay. Victor at the pool bar and sport bar. Ernesto in the breakfast room and Gabriela the omellete maker.
"Lovely stay at Beach Palace"
Pro's: big rooms, hotel is on beautiful private beach, great restaurants to choose from. Boccelli highly recommended if you like cuisine type food. 24 hour room service is included in all-inclusive and well stocked mini bar too. Cons: Hotel is quite dated.
