The Palazzo Gottardi is situated on Strada Nuova, in the heart of Venice's old city centre, near innumerable places of interest: the ancient Jewish ghetto (which is near an area full of inns and trattorias offering typical Venetian cooking), the famous Rialto market, the Santa Sofia wharf, and, of course, the Piazza San Marco and the church of Santa Maria della Salute, from where one can see a wonderful view of San Marco Bay.

"Bringing in the New Year in St Mark’s Square"
Recently celebrated our anniversary and brought in the the New Year in St Mark’s Square in Venice with my family and stayed at the exceptional Hotel Ca Gottardi. The hotel was beautiful and authentically Venetian with all usual haunts just a short and delightful stroll away that allows you to savour Venice at its best. The hotel staff and especially Diego were at the top of their game and could not do enough for us. I fully recommend this hotel, we arrived by private water taxi at their water door and were welcomed with a complimentary drink. If you are planning a trip and confused by the choice available you really can’t go wrong with thIs establishment as it is so lovely. Thank you Diego and Company for a wonderful stay and start to 2018.
"Hidden Gem in the Heart of Venice"
We were very pleased with the beautiful rooms and friendly atmosphere of this lovely boutique hotel. We are regulars to Venice for the Biennale and wanted to try something new to our usual, and because we'd invited guests, we wanted something clean, central and value for money. We love this local area and the staff were very attentive, booking our restaurants in advance of our visit and also welcoming us at their private jetty at the bottom of the palazzo. The central lounge/reception area was chicly designed with the modern velvet chairs and slick lighting and candle lanterns found in the nicer boutique hotels, with the typical Venetian layering of styles and periods done so well. The rooms were exceptionally clean - I am beyond picky to the point of despair for my travel companions - and recently decorated and lined in the beautiful Venetian silks you come to expect from the higher end hotels in Venice. Breakfast catered for all and even included some gluten free options which is so difficult to come by in many Italian venues. We were very kindly upgraded to the most palatial rooms. High ceilings, rich red and gold silk walls, canal views and sumptuous crispy clean white linens and towels. In room drinks - coffee and Bellinis in our case - were offered on the house which makes such a difference compared to some of the larger hotels we’ve experienced in the city that charge for everything and have bad attitude to due the high and guaranteed numbers of guests. Umbrellas' Complimentary night cap for bed' They have it all and SO reasonably priced. Only 50 metres from Ca D’Oro water bus stop too! We will very much be staying again and supporting this lovely hotel in a city saturated by so much tourist rip offs. My full marks are based on everything you need for a high quality and comfortable stay in the city. The 3 stars currently awarded to the hotel must be because of it being a boutique. If you are looking for his & hers towel robes, slippers, writing paper etc, then they don’t have currently but it would not be out of place here. Thank you again for your assistance and kindness Ca Gottardi.
"Lovely little hotel just be careful of the room location"
Staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy. We went for Superior room for canal views. Unfortunately we had a room overlooking the canal, pedestrian step bridge, road, and adjacent restaurant. Had the air-con been working we could have closed the windows at night and been perfectly happy. Unfortunately the lack or air-con (we were told they have to turn it off in October!') and the weather necessitated open windows. Don't get me wrong, Venice is marvelous, the hotel was nice, but the noise at night through the open window was also an unforgettable experience.
"A charming hotel in a great location"
I stayed at Ca Gottardi for a couple of nights on my first ever visit to Venice. The hotel is ideally situated and the staff could not have been more helpful with recommendations of restaurants and key highlights for my short visit. The hotel was clean and very comfortable with a delicious breakfast. Would love to stay here again on my next visit to Venice.
"BED BUGS! CIMICI! トコジラミ! 臭虫!"
BED BUGS! CIMICI! トコジラミ! 臭虫! Our room was infested with both adult and nymph (baby) bed bugs! For both adult and nymph to exist, the infestation has existed for a minimum of two weeks. The hotel staff originally lied to us and said a dog had brought in the bed bugs with a previous guest, but then admitted they had known of a previous infestation when we challenged them. Previous reviews on TripAdvisor show this hotel has been infested with bed bugs since May 2017 but they are still renting rooms! Had to fight with staff and the manager over the phone after our stay as they still wanted payment (we did not pay them anything in the end). We spent the final day of vacation in hospital getting steroid shots and antihistamine shots as my partner was was bitten so badly - the nurses in the hospital had never seen anything so bad, and had never seen anyone with as many bites from only one night's exposure. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
