"Summer island hopping 2017"
My first visit to the island and what can i say, just amazing from arrival to departure. the staff where always and hand and extremely helpful. `the rooms that we had for our stay were situated in the furthest most corner of the resort with a short work to the restaurant and pool area and amazing views of the Mediterranean surronding Islands and stromboli. it was truly an amazing experience
"Exquisite resort one of the Aeolian islands with a stunning view on the Stromboli"
In July my family (3 children of 17, 16 and 14) stayed in the beautiful resort of Capofaro Malvasia & Resort… We all had a great time!!! The resort has only 20 rooms spread in a lovely vineyard with a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Stromboli… It has a wonderful restaurant with exquisite food and a nice selection of wine. The swimming pool and spa were also great… The hotel has a shuttle service to the small village of Santa Marina Salina and to a beach club. We had two adjacent rooms which were nicely equipped and comfortable. Not only is the location and accommodation great, but the staff are extremely friendly, highly competent and professional and extremely responsive. An amazing experience!!! I suggest you ask the reception to organise a boat trip to Panarea… They reserved a very nice boat with a kind skipper named Antonello Taranto
"Worthy of a Michelin Star"
Most delicious, flavourful, immaculately presented dishes we have ever tasted. Each so different yet not overwhelming. Perfectly accomplished! A true, natural talent to watch out for! I cannot wait to go back next week. Full of extraordinary flavours.
"A stunning island getaway"
This was our second visit to CapoFaro (the first one being eight years ago on our honeymoon) and we were a little worried it wouldn't be as magical we remembered. Luckily this was not the case! We traveled there early July with our two year old son. The CapoFaro resort is set in the middle of vineyards, vegetable and herb gardens and on a high cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, with the islands of Lipari and Vulcano in the horizon. Simply breathtaking view. The grounds and the whole resort is immaculately maintained and your eye will rest wherever you look. The rooms are rather simple in the Aeolian island style, yet very comfortable, with terraces and luscious amenities that you actually want to use! The week days were very quiet and the poolside was almost empty, yet the weekend had more of a buzz about it with more Italian visitors coming over for a weekend. Not that it every felt crowded or even close to it, with such a limited number of rooms on the property. The only mild let-down for us (compared to last time 8 years ago) was the restaurant - which I will also write a separate review on, but this related to the resort as a whole: Compared to the super professional, casual yet very attentive waiting staff that impressed us last time, the service this time seemed far less professional and some of the waiting staff spoke rather poor English (worse than my pigeon Italian). They were also presumably exhausted as the same faces were there serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day! The menu was also very limited due to a new (yet admittedly cool) one-kilometre concept which means all food needs to be sourced from within one km from the restaurant. This meant a lot of fresh seafood, and vegetables and herbs grown right there in their own garden. But I was pregnant and my husband isn't the most adventurous when it comes to seafood other than fish, hence the lack of variety (fish / sea-food / meat) was a minus for us - especially since we had a young child with us we were eating a lot of our meals there over the 6 days! Also the restaurant is pretty expensive and one day we ended up paying Eur 30 for a very simple pasta for our two year-old, which I thought was just over the top! I don't mind paying a lot for good food (especially when it has been grown with love in front of your eyes) however then I do expect the quality as well as the service to be exceptional. Having said all that, the whole experience at Capofaro was and is amazing for a romantic getaway or a even family holiday as long as you don't expect kids entertainment and are happy to go explore the island when you need something to do. There are plenty of other places to lunch and dine on Salina, so the restaurant isn't such an issue. We will definitely be back again!
