"Traveling into Spanish History in Toledo"
The town (and ancient capital) of Toledo is worth a trip from Madrid as it shows the Spanish heritage of muslim settlement, even back to Wisigoth and Romans. Carlos V is splendid situated in the middle of the historic town center, right beneath the Alcazar. The center place 'Zocodover' is only a three minutes walk away. Although driving a car and even finding a parking log in the old town is quite challenging, the place is worth to stay. You can stroll all-around the city and see all places necessary to see. We appreciated a very kind and helpful reception and a good breakfast in the morning. For the late drink a small restaurant is nearby.
Nice hotel centrally located. Our room was average size, clean, bright and in good condition Beautiful roof top bar where you could enjoy drinks and beautiful views. Breakfast was adequate with good selections. We parked before we dropped off the bags , it was a uphill climb pulling large suitcases so small bags or drop them off first.
"View of abandoned building with pigeon droppings"
This hotel was booked as part of a small group tour. Our room 217 was sterile with bright lights giving it an institutional feel to the room. The decor, a John Wayne tribute was in my opinion, tacky. The room was simple with two beds pushed together. It is not a boutique or exclusive hotel. The lobby was fairly dark. Our view from the window was of an abandoned building with many pigeons and their droppings. I feel this hotel still deserves two stars as the room was clean, the view from the rooftop patio stunning and the breakfast delicious. The location in the old part of the city was convenient. I would not stay again for fear that the room we were given would not be as shown on their web site, but instead like the one we had.
"Ideal hotel for visiting Toledo"
This centrally-located hotel makes an ideal choice for anyone visiting Toledo. Good quality, comfortable room (ours included a Jacuzzi!). Nice roof terrace overlooking the roof-tops of Toledo, where you can enjoy a drink from the bar. Good breakfast, with a nice selection - I was particularly impressed with the way they catered for my wife's dietary requirements (gluten free). Parking is a four minute walk away, although you can drop your cases off outside the hotel, and a discount is provided over the normal parking rate.
"Conveniently located and clean."
When searching for a hotel in Toledo I did not find a lot of choice. It was either way too expensive ($600) or ($100). I trusted the reviews I read which gave good remarks about this hotel. I was so disappointed...not in the staff nor the location but the hotel and rooms are worn, tired and lifeless. I will give the front desk manager E for effort when we had to change rooms due to plumbing leak. But C- for my experience there.
