"Very close to airport, with free shuttle service every 30 minutes."
Large room, with a table and 2 chairs, desk with mirror and chair. We could look out our window and see planes landing and taking off. Excellent shuttle service to the airport every half hour. Staff very friendly. Restaurant on site. Only drawback to the room is the lighting was very poor.
"We will definitely be back!"
Lovely hotel, ideal location for those travelling to airport. However during our say we went to the zoo but it was only a 15-20 minute drive from hotel. Kids loved how you could see the runway and aeroplanes from hotel room. Staff are really friendly, especially the waiting staff who were very helpful for accommodating the children.
"One night stay before honeymoon"
Lovely room, with nice treats in the room to congratulate us on our wedding. Manager also gave us prosecco with our dinner. Very handy to keep the car there while we were away. Airport shuttle was great.
"The Carlton is a mid-range airport hotel with excellent staff in a not really fit-for-purpose building."
Staff were friendly and fully competent - all good there. Room was clean and relatively high standard, very good bed and bathroom. Room service 24 hours was good and menu varied. Now for the 'but' ... but this is an airport hotel and as such it falls short in some key areas. An airport hotel is a place I can time-out: crash and rest up. Somewhere quiet and with enough room to do this, right. Sound-proofing is not the best. I thought the window was open when I arrived & I just needed to shut it. Oops, No it *was* shut - that's how poor the sound-proofing is. It's just not sound-proofed enough for an airport hotel. AND on top of the runway in the distance there's a major ROAD right outside. They started jack-hammering at tradies hours early in the morning when I stayed. Request a room in the 'back' of the hotel if you can as it is further from the runway noise and the road. Or use sound-cancelling headphones. While the room is OK quality it was a bit cramped: no simple place for a suitcase or for the huge and very heavey room service tray. There's nothing on, or near, the room phone to show you what number to dial for what service. For Reception dial 0 (zero). BTW nothing on the phone shows you 0 = reception. The Carlton is a mid-range airport hotel with very good staff in a not really fit-for-purpose building. If you want good rest, pay for a better hotel. If on a budget stay somewhere cheaper and travel with sound-cancelling headphones. Last thing. If you do stay there... Make sure you read the instructions and have a note on you about the shuttle bus pick up point because Dublin Airport is one of the worst sign-posted airports on earth and the areas outside are vast with no map or any kind of guiding system. I couldn't even find a central information point. Perhaps there is one, but there are no signs showing you where it is or how to get there. No staff around when I got there around 7PM. There IS an area allocated for shuttle buses but it's out of the way and not obvious: Zone 16 (your email has told you, but not where it is & how to find it). So, ASK someone where it is. I did and a local pointed to a huge pillar with 'God is Love' on it and said 'you need to get there'. I thought he was trying to convert me or taking the mickey, but he was actually giving me very clear directions. If they changed the words on the pillar to 'Shuttle Buses Stop Here', everyone would get around a lot easier without the need for prayer or divine intervention. ;-
"Best airport hotel"
Good shuttle service to and from the hotel from Dublin Airport; easy, warm and efficient check-in; friendly, professional staff with smiling welcome; lovely room, warm and comfortable and a great evening meal with cocktails and wine - why would we stay anywhere else when flying out of Dublin'' Planning our next trip already ...
