"Family Favourite night away"
We spent a lovely night away for the midterm break. A super deal included 1 night B n B, a 2 course dinner and tickets to Aqua Zone for 2 adults, 1 teen and 1 ten year old. A welcoming and swift check in awaited us. Our family room was spacious, well equipped, modern and spotless. Our evening meal was scrumptious , served efficiently and with a smile. We slept so well and felt well rested in the morning. Our breakfast was just gorgeous, such a lovely display of fresh food choices and coffee of a desired standard. Our check out was swift and we were sent on our way to the National Equatic center with a pleasant farewell. As the Mum in our house I feel we had lovely family break, all the boxes are ticked and I feel refreshed to get in gear for the next step.. the run up to Christmas. Thank you to all staff!
"Garrenteed a good night's sleep"
My job requires me to stay away 4 nights a week, mainly located near the office for the last 5 years. I've stayed in all the hotels in the area and I have to say that this one is certainly good value for money. I always say, it has to have a good mattress, good pillow and a strong shower and this hotel has all three. They have a decent breakfast buffet, a bar menu that ticks all the boxes (not too complicated) and one of the best bar staff found in the greater Dublin area (I must mention the famous Ozzie who is a keystone of the team). It's centrally located between the N3 and the N2 and serviced by a good road network so I never seem to get delayed in traffic. Perfect for the corporate traveller and a short distance to all the main attractions in the area. Enjoy...
"We "Blanched" In Blanchardstown!"
We stayed at the Carlton as we were attending a family wedding taking place there yesterday. We were checked in quickly and efficiently by a very pleasant girl at reception. One member of our group (the mother of the bride), was unfortunately left waiting over 20 minutes for the key to the room, despite having been told the room number and that the room was ready...no explanation for the delay and as you can imagine, time was of the essence. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We went down to the bar, for some lunch, where we met some more of our party, who said they had been waiting about 40 minutes for the sandwiches they ordered. The staff were very pleasant and we had no complaints about the food. The breakfast next day was excellent. Unfortunately, we could not say the same about the wedding food. The bride and groom had ordered food for 100 people, with a couple of specific requests, for about 5 guests, myself included. Having been in the pub trade for a vast number of years, I can confidently say, that whatever number of people the hotel catered for, it most certainly was not 100!! The food ran out after a few minutes, with several guests getting NOTHING to eat. I asked the manager(I assume he was the manager) if the sandwiches contained butter( as I cannot tolerate it) and he assured me there was no butter in any of the sandwiches. Taking him at his word, I tucked into a sandwich, only to end up with a very upset stomach for the remainder of the evening...as yes, there was butter in the sandwiches!!! Some of the guests sitting at our table actually ended up with no food at all. I don't think I'm wrong or alone, in thinking this was appalling. The bride and groom were very upset and the "manager" really didn't seem too bothered about the situation. The bar staff need to be taught how to pour pints (particularly Guinness) properly, before being let loose on the paying public. They also need to be told to dump the slops, not top them up from the pump and sell them to the public!! The drinks were not cheap and we should not have to deal with sub-standard products or service!! As a party, we took about 10 or 12 rooms (unsure of the exact number) and also spent a lot of money ( accommodation, lunch and drinks). It is such a shame the the positive experiences we had at this hotel, were offset by the disregard, if not disrespect, shown to us at other times. For this reason alone, I (and the rest of our party) would not stay at this hotel again. Pity....it had started so well.
