"Cold tiny room before all day on business"
This is my first bad experience in hotel, although I’ve stayed both in luxurious and economy class ones. Arrived with two colleagues who had same kind of booking as I did, both of them got a double bed rooms, it was warm and they slept well. My tiny room on the last floor had both cold water and temperature was so low that I had to stay in my winter jacket in the room while prepating for next days presentations and busy day. I waited for room to get warmer while we went for dinner in hotel’s restaurant, food was good both during dinner and breakfast. Room didn’t get any warmer and there were no extra blankets. I received an extra heater from hotel staff but it warmed the room up only by after 2 a.m. So I had to sleep with my jacket!!! Hotel personel told me “yes well it’s cold in Norway now”. This was ridiculous to say to someone who came from northern Sweden. And water in the shower was cold as well, took much time until the warm reached the last floor. So I tried to get a bit warmer staying in the shower... I honestly don’t understand why this hotel was one of possible choices in our company’s travel agency. I will never return and will not recommend it to anyone. Attaching the picture of my room. This is what you get for 1200 NOK (price as in agreement from travel agency). Plus being tired before an important busy day. Hotel staff was friendly though. And food was good. Location is good. Only for that I rank my stay poor instead of very bad. I’m really sorry to write my first negative review, but please be careful and check out your room before you stay.
"Great food at this hotel, though amenities feel old in comparison to the modernity of Scandanavia"
The absolute best thing about the hotel is the breakfast buffet (I unfortunately did not partake in the afternoon snacks or the dinner - I wish I had!). It's an older feel of a hotel, more traditional, actually quite romantic. I prefer a more modern style, which you can get in the Citybox, Comfort Xpress hotels. Do the math - if you're someone who loves to eat out, then this hotel may not necessarily make sense for you financially because you have so much food included. However, if you're on a budget and you're staying with others, this is a great place to get value for your money.
"The best a man can get.....not Gillette but Bastion!"
Small but nice and homely Hotel centrally located in Oslo, only a ten minutes walk to Oslo Sentral Railway/Bus Station and pedestrian zone, Karl Johan Street. Extraordinary good service and a good free evening buffet! Arrive late' No problemo!
"I strongly recomend"
Even thaugh it was a business trip I felt like at home. Nice atmosphere, nice food and professional staff. The hotel is located in a quiet place. I strongly recomend Nordic Choice Hotels especially the one in Oslo.
"Breakfast AND Dinner included...this place is an incredible deal!"
I was really impressed with my two nights at the Hotel Bastion. First of all, and most importantly, you have TWO meals included with your room. Many places include breakfast but I have never stayed in a hotel that also gives you a free (and quite good!) dinner as well. They also provide a snack of pancakes in the afternoon. Food (and everything else) in Oslo is very expensive, so getting two meals included will save an individual or family a lot of money. Location was convenient. A short 7-8 minute walk from the train station/subway. Karl Johans Gate, the main shopping street was maybe 5 minutes away. The room was pretty nice as well. I booked a "deluxe" room- Room 614- using my Choice Privilege Points. For it being the top level of room, I thought it could've been a bit bigger and the furniture was a little tired looking (stains and holes on the desk chair) but the bed was comfy and clean, as was the bathroom, so in the end that's all I really care about. Would I stay here again when in Oslo' Definitely!
